Chapter 150 - 149: Why Is The Monster So Kind? (Part 2)

It was a bright summer day, Eleanore was with her best friend of that time, Flora Damaria. They were sitting in the Sinclair Mansion’s Garden, talking over tea, when suddenly something struck in Flora’s mind.

"Elle?" She calls her and Eleanore immediately places her milk glass away.

"Hmm?" She tilts her head looking for Flora’s question.

"Am I your best friend?" She asks, remembering the time Eleanore ignored her and talked to others for a long time in the last party.

Eleanore was puzzled by that question. Flora has and will always be her best friend, then why would she ask a question like that?

"Flora, why are you asking that? You are of course my best friend." She smiles.

Flora’s face lightened up with a huge half-moon smile, as she pulled out a paper and a pen from her small handbag. She started screeching on it and Eleanore wondered what she was jotting down on that blank paper.

Eleanore curiously leans forward on the table, to get a glimpse of what she was writing. However, she couldn’t even read a word from that far.

Just when she decided to walk to her seat, Flora finished writing whatever she was writing. She raised it up in front of Eleanore and she immediately let out a laugh.

"Best Friend Contract?" She laughs.

"Yes, sign it and then you will never be able to evade it." She says with a big smile, as she slides the papers forward and asks her to sign.

Eleanore continued to laugh as she signed the paper and promised to be only Flora’s friend forever.

For a long time, since she had that dreadful fight with Flora, Eleanore wanted to know more about her. It took her more than three months from then to finally remember a silly memory related to her. It immediately sent a sense of calmness in her body as she smiled.

Her eyes slowly opened, when that dream ended and she found a naked chest in front of her. It seemed firm and strong, as it had held her all night. She moved a bit back, but his hands were embracing her so tightly that she couldn’t move.

Eleanore tried a few more times and it still didn’t work, that’s when Caelestis woke up as well.

"Looks like someone is awake, after shivering all night." His sarcastic tone immediately made Eleanore cringe.

She bends her neck to look at his handsome face from up close. He was smiling as he increased his grip on her.

"Why are you suddenly being so nice?" She asks.

Caelestis fell into deep thought when that question was raised. He, himself, wasn’t sure exactly why he was acting like this. However, something in him told him that he was responsible for her and that he had to keep her safe, at any cost.

"I don’t know, maybe because I do not want you to die yet. I want you to grow old with me. We will live together forever, without anyone else—"

Before he could ruin the end like always Eleanore shut his moving lips, by pressing her index finger against it. "Shut up! You are being so nice. Don’t ruin it by adding those hateful words.

Caelestis smiles, as he holds her palm and pushes it away from his lips. Then he cuddles her again tightly, "You should sleep more, somehow you seem to still be cold." He says, closing his eyes and slipping into deep sleep again.

It wasn’t even morning yet and Eleanore, herself, was still a bit sleepy. So, she chose not to argue and instead fall asleep again.

Hours later, when her eyes opened again, she was laying on her back and her eyes could catch the sun that was seeping through the curtains. She could still feel Caelestis’ warm, heavy hand on her waist and on under her head.

"You are finally awake." He says, as if he had been waiting for her to wake up.

Eleanore turned to him, "Were you waiting for me?" She asks.

"I guess."

She looks away again, feeling much better now. There was not a hint of cold left in her heart. "You should have left if you were awake. Don’t you have work to do?"

Caelestis ignored her words and instead, asked what he had been meaning to ask her since the moment she woke up in the middle of the night but held himself back. "What happened to you in that room?" He asked.

Eleanore waited for all the memories to flow back and then began, "After Lady Adena locked me in that room, I thought it was one of her poor jokes. Turns out, it wasn’t. There was a red, blood color circle drawn underneath the bed in that room. Suddenly the door closed tightly and even the balcony window. It was all so scary."

She gulped as she continued. "The black smoke that came out of that circle pulled me into a dark void and then I saw the past. I think he was trying to pull me into itself by manipulating my mind."

Her gaze turned back to him. "It was back magic." She says.

Caelestis flinches on hearing that. "How do you know?"

Eleanore thought for a while as she turned to the ceiling this time. "Black smoke, shiny glaring eyes, mind control, knows everything about, things even I might not be aware of. He looked dangerous. If he ever comes for me next time, I don’t think I will survive." She remembers that vague image of the woman who saved her. She said she won’t be able to meet her until her hands fall on fragments.

’What fragments?’

Eleanore’s view was blocked, when Caelestis suddenly appeared in his view. His arm was still under her head; the other one moved for support near her face. He caught her cheeks with that hand once he had gained support from the one under her.

"I won’t let anything happen to you. You will survive." With that, he softly kisses on her forehead.
