Chapter 149 - 148: Why Is The Monster So Kind? (Part 1)

Eleanore was half awake, on her way back to Lancaster Mansion. She didn’t once let go of Caelestis. The freezing cold in her body didn’t subdue and the warmth his single arm emitted was not enough. Soon the carriage pulled over and Caelestis took her to her room.

"What happened?" Marina asked, when she saw her mistress in his arms half unconscious, shivering as if she had been stranded in snow for days.

Caelestis gently placed her on the bed, carefully laying her head on a bulky pillow. "I will explain that later. First Change her clothes." He could see Eleanore was struggling in that huge birdcage like skirt and extremely tight bodice.

He tried to leave but Eleanore had clenched his hand so tightly that he couldn’t get his hand out of her grasp. "Eleanore?" He called but received no reply.

So, he went closer and gently shook her chin. "Eleanore? Can you hear me?" He asks but again receives no reply.

Caelestis continued to call her out and received nothing, until he called her in another way. "Elly?"

"Hmm?" She opened her eyes slightly and looked at him. Elly was her pet name in the original world. That’s what her mother used to call her.

"Let me go, you need to change." He whispers.

"No." She turns away, unwilling to let him go.

"Then what do you want, huh? Do you want me to see you change?" He asks in frustration, but she still wouldn’t let off his hand.

"Elly! Let me go for now, I’ll be back once you change."

Eleanore thought for a while over that offer and finally left his hand. She felt like her joints had frozen in its place even after she tried to move them. She clenched her hand around her chest as she turned over. Her teethes were gritting in the cold and it wouldn’t stop no matter how hard she tried.

"I will send Lilith in a bit." He leaves the room, and Marina begins to loosen the corset. Soon Lilith joins in and once they are done, Eleanore is left with only under garments.

"I brought this thick blanket, it can help." Lilith suggests.

They wrap her in that blanket and Marina checks for fever but turns out even her forehead was cold. She was not sick, just cold.

Lilith rushed out of the room and told Caelestis that they were done with a nod. He got in and found Eleanore extremely cold and still awake.

"Eleanore, are you feeling better?" He asked and in return she simply shook her head, unable to speak.

He turned to Marina, and she looked clueless too. "She doesn’t have a fever." She reveals, uncertain of what to do next.

Just then he felt a cold touch on his wrist, when he turned his gaze down, he found her hand clenching on his wrist again as if he had something she was seeking. Her crimson eyes, begging for that thing as she suffered through some unique kind of pain, no one knew.

Lilith arrived in the room, with some servants holding a fire heater. They place it near her bed side and within minutes, the temperature in the room rises, yet there was no difference in her temperature.

Caelestis knelt on the ground and started rubbing her palm, which made her feel a little better but she was greedily craving for more.

When Lilith and Marina saw that, they too joined in and started rubbing her palms and legs. With all the heat the three of them were trying to provide her, only Caelestis’ could reach hers.

"I think it’s working. Let me find some more maids." Caelestis got up and was about to leave but Eleanore stopped him.

"Don’t go, please." Her voice was faint and weak. "Stay."

Caelestis turns to her, "I will be back in a bit."

"I do not need anyone else." She pulled her hand out of Marina and held it out to Caelestis as if asking for him to hug her. "I only need you."

"What do you mean?" He was puzzled by her actions and words. They didn’t have that kind of relationship. Until yesterday they didn’t even talk to each other.

Eleanore gulped in as she tried to explain the situation. "I need your warmth." She says and loses strength to explain anything ahead.

She wanted to say more, that only his heat could reach her and nothing else in the world was working to subdue the cold that had frozen inside her body. However, as she tried to say those things her energy fell short, and her hand started to fall back down on the bed.

However, Caelestis hugged her immediately before her hand could touch the surface of the bed. She slid her face between his neck and his shoulder, a s her hand tightly embraced him into her arms.

She could hear his breathing that had started to quicken, as she tried to get closer to him. Greedily wanting more, so that her frozen heart could melt. Just a huge was not enough, she wanted more. She wanted him in her bed and held her close to him all night. Only then she would be able to fall asleep that night and find peace from this suffering.

As if her voice had reached him, He climbed in her bed and got in her thick blanket. He slid his hand down her waist and pulled her closer to him and Eleanore buried her face in his chest, still shivering and breathing heavily.

Caelestis felt her harsh breathing on his bare chest, so he asked out of concern. "Do you need your pump?"

In return, she shook her head and reduced the distance between them. It was a strange feeling, he could feel the cold air she was emitting, and he could quickly feel how much her temperature had dropped from that.

A person like him, who could move in winter without a single coat covering his body. Even for him it was too cold. So much so, that he could feel a few shivers passing through his own body.

’Just what is happening with her body?’ He wondered.

Lilith whispered to Marina. "Let’s leave."

Marina shakes her head and gets off the bed. Before she could leave the room, she checked on her mistress once again. She was still shivering unstoppably but somehow looked in a better condition than before.

"My Lord, If you need anything. I am outside." She says, before closing the door behind her.
