Chapter 77: Chapter 39: Reversing Death, The Birth of shinigamis! (Part 1)

Deep within the subterranean cavern, the campfire crackled, casting the flickering shadows of the four children against the rock walls.

Having dismissed the other villagers who had merely acted on a whim, the birth of the very first batch of shinigamis had to be handled with extreme caution.

Alex knew exactly who the four youths before him were; they were guaranteed to successfully ascend as shinigamis.

As for anyone else, Alex simply didn’t have the patience or time to slowly guide them.

Among the four, the tall, slender boy with narrow eyelids, Tsunayashiro Kyōen, looked up at Alex.

"God, can we obtain supernatural powers like Brother Ade?"

"Brother Ade’s Quincy Power is just too cool!" Kuchiki Kyō tilted his head up. His refined features looked exceptionally translucent in the firelight, and his eyes flickered with undisguised yearning. "I want to become just like him."

"Yeah! If I can gain that kind of power, I’m willing to pay any price!" Shiba Enjō, with his short, fiery red hair, clenched his fists tightly and looked at Alex with an expression full of anticipation.

Alex looked at them, his dark eyes completely devoid of emotion.

"Ade’s ability is entirely unique in this world. You cannot imitate it."

He paused, his voice suddenly turning freezing cold.

"But you can obtain a power capable of rivaling it through other means!"

Really?

A trace of pleasant surprise flashed in the eyes of the four youths. They dropped to one knee, addressing Alex just as Ade did.

"Teacher, please instruct us!"

Alex replied coldly, "I am not your teacher. I am merely a guide pointing you down the correct path."

Alex had absolutely no desire to become the teacher of these four.

If history took its natural course, the Soul King would eventually be betrayed by these four, have his limbs severed and organs hollowed out, and be reduced to a mutilated stump used solely to stabilize the realms.

Thinking of such vile deeds, Alex refused to forge any deep connections with them.

He paused for a moment. "Before we begin, you must be prepared to forfeit your lives!"

Hearing these words, the light in the youths’ eyes wavered.

Does obtaining power capable of rivaling Ade’s require the price of our own lives?

The little girl named Shihōin Yoruha burst into tears on the spot.

"A-are we going to die?..."

Alex’s expression remained indifferent. "It’s not too late to back out."

The children looked at one another before ultimately shaking their heads.

"I won’t back out. I want to contribute to the village, just like Brother Ade..."

"It’s too hard on Brother Ade alone. Every day he comes back, he’s so exhausted he nearly collapses. I want to share some of his burden."

Alex felt a slight warmth in his heart. No matter what might happen in the distant future, the hearts of these children right now were still pure and sincere!

Since he had already arrived in this world, perhaps Ade’s fate could be altered.

Setting aside his preconceived notions about the four children, Alex nodded slightly.

"Very well. Prepare yourselves. We are beginning now!"

A white halo pulsed from beneath Alex’s feet. Starting from their legs, the four children instantly froze over. In less than five seconds, all four were simultaneously transformed into solid ice sculptures.

Their eyes were wide open and mouths agape, as if unable to believe that Alex—the man they revered as a god—had actually attacked them!

Ade was also caught completely off guard. He looked at Alex; he knew all too well just how overbearing and absolute Alex’s domain of Absolute Zero truly was.

Even the immortal, indestructible Void Beasts couldn’t easily escape once frozen!

His four friends were merely ordinary humans. Being turned into ice sculptures meant they would be dead in a matter of moments.

"Teacher!" Ade abruptly stood up. "You froze them all! Won’t this kill them?"

Alex’s expression was terrifyingly calm, and his next words instantly shattered Ade’s composure!

"They are already dead."

Regardless of their monumental achievements in the future, right now, these four children were nothing more than ordinary mortals. Under his domain of Absolute Zero, they couldn’t last even a single second.

"Ah!"

Ade stumbled a step backward, his back hitting the rock wall. Cold sweat instantly soaked through his thin clothes.
