Chapter 56: Chapter 28: Saga’s Fury, The Hydra! (Part 2)

The two Gold Saints stood side by side in the frozen marsh. Their powerful Cosmos repelled each other, actually causing the surrounding space to ripple and the ice surface to continuously crack beneath their feet.

"I can tell you haven’t stopped training all these years." Alex nodded slightly, acknowledging Saga’s strength.

Saga’s cold snort carried an imperceptible hint of frustration. "The feeling is mutual!"

Alex’s words sounded exceptionally grating to his ears. His defeat at the Pope’s Palace years ago was branded into the depths of his soul. As proud as he was, he still couldn’t accept his defeat to Alex.

Alex smiled faintly and turned to walk deeper into the marsh. Watching Alex’s white cape fluttering in the wind and snow, Saga felt an inexplicable sense of reassurance.

As long as he and Alex joined forces, even if Poseidon, the God of the Sea, were standing right in front of them, he would have the power to put up a fight!

Thinking of Mina, the delicate girl in the village who always filled his bag with baked breads, Saga subconsciously clenched his jaw. He bit down so hard that the muscles in his cheeks bulged.

The human skeletons faintly visible beneath the ice had become his most agonizing vulnerability at this moment.

"Beast, no matter what you are, I will make you pay with your life!"

Alex’s domain of Absolute Zero continued to expand. The ice beneath his feet spread endlessly, freezing the dark green miasma into hexagonal snowflakes.

Saga followed closely behind, suddenly realizing that a thin layer of ice had condensed on his Gemini Cloth.

Gold Cloths possessed at least ninety percent resistance against all negative status effects. During their last battle at the Pope’s Palace, Alex hadn’t been able to freeze his Cloth, but now...

’Alex has gotten even stronger! Moreover, his Cosmo now contained an overbearing, destructive power alongside the cold that could freeze anything.’

Saga had never stopped training during his years locked in prison, but he found that the gap between him and Alex seemed to have grown even wider.

’Damn it! How on earth does this guy train?’

The two stopped at the edge of the dense forest. Before them lay a lake as black as ink. In a world completely sealed in ice, only this body of water remained undisturbed, resembling an obsidian mirror embedded in the snow and frost.

Normally, there might be nothing wrong with this lake, but in a forest where everything else was frozen solid, the fact that this water remained unfrozen immediately alerted the two to the anomaly.

"If I’m not mistaken, the monster you spoke of should be hiding right here," Alex said flatly as he stopped walking.

"It’s definitely here! I can smell the stench of that beast." Saga clenched his fists and declared with absolute certainty.

Alex and Saga stood on opposite sides of the lake, forming a pincer formation. Alex leaned over and dipped a single finger into the water. With his fingertip as the epicenter, a thick layer of ice instantly formed across the surface of the lake.

A translucent pillar of ice explosively shot down into the water, expanding at the dark bottom of the lake into a radial array of spiked ice lances.

If there really was a monster in this lake, continuing to hide would result in it being completely impaled by the ice spikes!

A few seconds later, the lake water began to boil violently like a kettle. A massive amount of green bubbles gurgled up to the surface, only to be instantly frozen into frost under Alex’s domain of Absolute Zero!

Boom!

The lake’s surface violently blasted open, throwing up a ten-meter-high wave. A colossal black shadow leaped up from beneath the surface, letting out a furious roar at the two Gold Saints.

"Roar!"

As the water mist dispersed, the monster revealed its true form. Its body was as thick as a giant python, towering over a dozen meters high, and its surface was covered in dark green scales.

The scales reflected a purple-black glint under the snowy light, looking as hard as solid metal. From the gaps between the scales, a viscous, dark-green sap oozed out. As it dripped onto the ice, it instantly corroded honeycomb-like holes into the surface.

It possessed three necks in total, rather than the nine heads from the legends. Near the base of its necks, however, there were six gruesome, severed stumps.
