Chapter 39: Chapter 20: The Zombie Temple, The Fallen Reincarnator Appears! (Part 1)
From this magic ring that did not belong to this native world, Alex deduced there was a ninety percent probability that the Fallen Reincarnator was indeed this God King Arthur.
Without hesitation, he transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot straight into the clouds.
In truth, he couldn’t care less whether Prince Bourne lived or died. All these zombies were destined for death anyway; it was merely a matter of who died first.
Judging by the architectural patterns of this zombie race, the higher a zombie’s status, the more ostentatious and conspicuous their dwellings would be. Now that the zombie race ruled the Earth, they had no reason to hide in the shadows.
Therefore, Alex only needed to locate the grandest structure, which would undoubtedly be the seat of the zombie royal family.
The lightning he became leaped between the clouds. As he continuously utilized the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Alex grew increasingly proficient at traversing as pure electricity.
The Rumble-Rumble Fruit’s ability was akin to merging with nature itself, not requiring Alex to burn his own Cosmo. Every time he burned his Cosmo to its absolute limit, it took a toll on his lifespan. With an alternative ability at his disposal, Alex naturally prioritized using the Devil Fruit.
He felt as though he had become a god patrolling the mortal realm, riding a chariot of thunder.
The true potential of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit was continuously being unlocked, his speed surging like a roaring thunderstorm.
Crack! Boom!
Golden lightning zigzagged through the clouds, leaving fleeting trails of light across the planet’s atmosphere.
The speed of his lightning form was incredibly fast, roughly clocking in at 300,000 kilometers per second. The equator of this Reincarnation World’s planet was merely 40,000 kilometers. In a single second, Alex could circle the globe seven and a half times.
In just a few minutes, his gaze was firmly drawn to a behemoth structure below.
It was a colossal temple spanning dozens of kilometers. Its main building towered over a hundred meters high, resembling a massive black beast crouching upon the earth.
On the pediment at the temple’s peak, gilded zombie characters were engraved, gleaming with a seemingly holy luster under the sunlight. Alex recognized the words at a glance.
"Palace of God King Arthur."
Perhaps because it was daytime, not a single zombie could be seen patrolling the temple grounds. However, the marble floor of the grand plaza in front of the temple was polished as bright as a mirror, devoid of even a speck of dust. Clearly, dedicated zombies cleaned and maintained it every day.
"This is the place."
Retracting his electrical form, Alex plummeted from the clouds, landing steadily in the center of the plaza.
The main doors of the royal palace were wide open. The interior was pitch black, resembling the gaping maw of a man-eating beast and radiating a heart-palpitating, oppressive aura.
Paying it no mind, Alex raised his hand and condensed a basketball-sized sphere of pure electricity. The orb emitted a blinding white light as it floated in front of him, driving away the surrounding shadows.
Alex strode confidently into the grand hall.
To his surprise, the hall was entirely empty. There were no guards and no priests; only a majestic golden statue towered in the dead center.
The deity’s face was hideous and menacing. It had an ashen complexion with two curved fangs jutting out from its lips, stretching so long they practically touched its chin. The throne beneath the statue’s feet was built from a mountain of human bones. The hollow eye sockets of the skulls stared blankly toward the entrance, as if screaming in silent agony.
On the floor directly in front of the statue, several lines of "divine text" were etched in dark red liquid. Alex swept his gaze over them, immediately comprehending their meaning.
"The King of Gods, God King Arthur, is the incarnation of decay and the gospel of death. He is the one true God who liberates all life from their mortal shackles, guiding them toward eternity."
"Call upon the name of God King Arthur, and recite the prayer of eternal life. I shall return from the void to save my people!"
"He really has guts to call himself a god!" Alex shook his head slightly, a flicker of mockery flashing through his eyes.
