Chapter 34: Chapter 17: Son of the God King? Divine Word Spell? (Part 2)

The walls were draped with air-dried human skins, upon which eerie symbols were painted in dark red pigment.

The center of the hall was filled with long tables. Bound to each table was a naked human. Their skin was as pale as paper, and their hollow eyes stared blankly at the ceiling. They didn’t show the slightest reaction even when Alex broke in, as if their souls had long been extracted.

"Intruder!"

Following a shrill roar, a large number of zombies clad in black armor swarmed in from the side doors. The weapons in their hands ranged from cold steel to firearms, clearly models once used by human armies.

The clacking sound of rounds being chambered echoed continuously as pitch-black muzzles were aimed in unison at Alex.

"Halt."

A low growl sounded, and the zombie army lowered their weapons and stood at attention, their movements so uniform it was uncharacteristic of zombies.

Alex followed the voice and saw a zombie wearing a blood-red robe walking down from an elevated platform at the far end of the hall.

His crown was forged from gold and skulls, and his robe was embroidered with dark red patterns, looking as though it were dyed with coagulated blood.

The most surprising aspect was his face. Although his skin still bore an ashen hue, his facial features were completely intact. Aside from the elongated fangs, he looked practically identical to a human.

This zombie wiped a bloodstain from the corner of his mouth with a napkin and looked Alex up and down with great interest. His eyes flickered with pleasant surprise and greed. He looked like the gourmand Hannibal encountering his ideal, top-tier ingredient.

"A human? You have quite a good physique. Your muscle density far exceeds those pigs in the farms. You look delicious."

His enunciation was clear and fluent, even carrying a hint of an aristocratic accent. If one didn’t look at his appearance, he sounded no different from an ordinary person.

This zombie’s intelligence was high enough for effective communication.

"You’re the one!"

Alex knew he had come to the right place. He stared into the creature’s eyes, his voice as cold as ice.

"Are you the King here?"

The zombie spread his arms, completely unbothered by the mysterious human who had just descended from the sky.

"I am Bourne Phillips, the ruler of the Divine Race within a thousand miles. You may call me Prince Bourne! My grandfather is Arthur Phillips, also known as the renowned God King Arthur!"

"The Creator God of the Divine Race!"

Alex chuckled.

"If you were about to die, would your grandfather come to save you?"

Prince Bourne covered his face with one hand, as if he had just heard the greatest joke in the world.

"Hahaha. Human, you are brave, but you probably have no idea what kind of existence God King Arthur’s bloodline truly represents!"

The zombie named Bourne pointed a single finger at Alex and shouted in the zombie language.

"Humans are forbidden to move in this domain!"

Alex felt his body grow heavy, as if an invisible mountain were pressing down on him. It instantly gave him the oppressive sensation of being hundreds of meters underwater.

But that was all it was. This level of restriction couldn’t even compare to his weight-bearing training when he was practicing to become a Saint. He had once carried an iceberg on his back along the ocean floor near Siberia, trekking for hundreds of kilometers!

However, the ability this zombie displayed made him rather curious.

Prince Bourne leaned in, sniffing the air around Alex.

"What an intoxicating scent of flesh and blood... It is rare to find such a pure human nowadays. I’ve decided. I will keep you in a golden cage and slice off a piece of your meat every day to savor slowly..."

Before his words even faded, his throat was suddenly clamped in a death grip by an ice-cold hand!

Alex applied a little pressure with his fingers, and Bourne’s neck bones let out a crisp snap.

The zombie widened his cloudy eyes in sheer disbelief. The greed in his gaze was instantly replaced by terror.

"H-how... how is this possible... Why aren’t you bound by the Divine Word Spell?"

Alex didn’t answer; he merely increased the force of his grip.

With a crisp crack, Prince Bourne’s head was completely severed from his body, tumbling to the ground. The head rolled a few times across the smooth floor tiles before finally coming to a stop at Alex’s feet.

Prince Bourne’s gaze was deadlocked onto Alex’s face. He watched as this human male revealed a cruel smile, his voice carrying a bone-piercing chill.

"Does any piece of trash got guts to falsely claim the title of a god these days?"
