Chapter 65: Freezing Hell, Hourglass of Time! (Part 1)
Seiya, Shiryu, Ikki, and Shun witnessed with their own eyes as Alex took the Ophiuchus ultimate technique head-on.
While still in mid-air, the light faded from Alex’s pupils, and his body gradually turned pale and withered.
The hearts of the four Bronze Saints instantly plunged into an icy abyss.
As soon as they had entered this temple, they had been taken down in a single move by the mysterious Saint named Odysseus. Afterward, even when they desperately tried to ignite their Cosmos, they found they couldn’t muster a single ounce of strength.
They had thought that the arrival of Alex, the strongest Gold Saint, would bring them a glimmer of hope for survival. Never did they expect that the first sight they would see upon waking up was Alex being utterly defeated!
The four widened their eyes in unison, their bodies trembling slightly, completely unable to believe the scene unfolding before them!
Meanwhile, warning boxes continuously popped up before Alex’s eyes.
[Warning! The Hunter’s life is in critical danger. Use the Hourglass of Time immediately?]
[Warning! The Hunter’s life is in critical danger. Use the Hourglass of Time immediately?]
Alex’s body crashed heavily to the ground. Blood surged from the wound on his chest, flowing along the crevices of the bluestone slabs like a winding red stream.
Soon, his breathing completely stopped, and his body lay utterly motionless.
All that remained in the Ophiuchus Temple was Asclepius’s smug, cold laughter and the suppressed panting of the four Bronze Saints.
In the final moment before his consciousness dissipated, Alex only felt his body grow weightless.
When he regained his senses, he found himself floating in a dreary, gray void, his body feeling light and helpless.
There was no green poisonous mist of the Ophiuchus Temple around him, nor the bright sunlight of the Sanctuary—only an endless, biting chill eroding his very soul!
’Is this the Underworld...?’
Alex muttered to himself, attempting to mobilize his Cosmo. However, he discovered that in this state of death, the vast majority of his power could not be utilized. Only a faint glimmer of divine light continued to burn quietly deep within his soul, resisting the dark erosion of the Underworld.
He looked down. Beneath his feet lay an endless black wasteland littered with shattered bones.
In the distance, a dark river flowed sluggishly. A dilapidated boat floated on its surface, rowed by a skeletal boatman draped in a black robe and clutching an oar. He was ferrying numb souls, one by one, to the opposite shore.
Sensing Alex’s gaze, the skeleton looked up and stretched its bony jaws into a wide grin.
"Another Gold Saint? Off to where you belong with you!"
Suddenly, Alex felt an irresistible, massive suction force. Then, completely involuntarily, he was pulled into a gigantic cavern.
The floor of the cavern was covered in black ice. Countless golden chains were intertwined within the ice, each chain firmly binding a transparent soul.
These souls varied in shape and form. They lay there silently, with only parts of their heads exposed; their bodies had long since completely fused with the solid ice!
In mid-air, a massive phantom floated. Its face was indistinguishable, but it radiated a suffocating, oppressive pressure.
The very moment Alex appeared, the phantom spoke in a cold, indifferent voice, as if reading a final judgment.
"Those who dare to blaspheme the gods can only suffer endless torment in the Freezing Hell! Alex, I sentence you to imprisonment here for hundreds of millions of years, never to enter the cycle of reincarnation!"
Boom!
The entire Freezing Hell instantly plunged into darkness. A gigantic hand materialized out of thin air, descending slowly, about to press Alex deep into the bottom of the ice.
Alex didn’t panic in the slightest. Right before he was struck by Asclepius, he had already crushed the Hourglass of Time in his inventory space.
At this moment, the countdown before his eyes was slowly approaching zero.
[Rewinding Time... Countdown... 9... 8... 7...]
Suddenly, a faint, mocking voice echoed.
"Hahaha, Alex... so you’re here too..."
Alex turned his head, only to see the soul of Deathmask buried deep beneath the ice, with only his head exposed.
Even in this pathetic state, Deathmask’s face wore an expression of heavy mockery.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... Look who I see! If it isn’t Lord Alex, the strongest Saint of the current era! Weren’t you acting all high and mighty? In the end, you didn’t manage to live much longer than I did..."
"Let me guess... Was it my Sekishiki Meikai Ha (Underworld Waves) that sent you here?"
