Chapter 110: Chapter 55: Phoenix Wing Ice-Thunder Burst! Ophiuchus! (Part 2)
"Begone!"
The Darkseeker army scattered and fled like stray dogs, but one solitary figure remained in place.
It was a young Darkseeker, his grayish-black skin still carrying a youthful sheen.
He hesitated for a moment before finally falling to his knees with a thud. He kowtowed incessantly toward the Sagittarius Cloth, his forehead striking the bluestone slabs and emitting dull, heavy thumps.
Alex’s consciousness perceived his presence through the Cloth, and a cold, metallic voice echoed directly within the young Darkseeker’s mind.
"You are a Darkseeker. Why do you bow to me?"
The young Darkseeker jerked his head up, revealing a face marked by a massive, hideous scar. He gritted his teeth, his voice trembling yet exceptionally resolute.
"Lord God! My name is Ren Syke! I have a question in my heart. If you can answer it, I am willing to die immediately!"
"Speak."
"As a god, why are you so biased, determined to drive our race to absolute extinction?"
Bloodshot lines surfaced in Ren Syke’s eyes.
"Although our race cannot look directly at the sunlight and craves flesh, we too have joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. We have our clan inheritances, and we have even created our own brilliant civilization! Our lifespans are far longer than humans, and our progenitor was originally transformed from a human! We are the continuation of the human race; we are humanity’s evolution!"
Alex’s heart stirred slightly.
The fact that the Darkseekers had not gone extinct after fifty years and had even managed to develop their own civilization... perhaps this was precisely the choice of the planet’s consciousness. They were no longer simple monsters, but a brand-new biological species.
He remained silent for a moment before asking.
"What do you desire?"
"I implore Lord God to give our race a glimmer of hope for survival!"
Ren Syke kowtowed heavily, the blood oozing from his forehead blossoming on the bluestone slab.
"I am willing to become your priest, to spread your divine majesty among our race, and make all Darkseekers submit to you!"
Alex’s thoughts churned rapidly. The population of the Darkseekers was currently millions of times greater than that of the humans. If the Darkseekers could also convert their faith to him, the speed of his Divinity accumulation would far surpass what he gained from humanity alone.
He put away the golden bow. A wisp of golden Divinity flicked from his fingertip, slowly descending into Ren Syke’s body.
"I give you ten years. If you fail to do so, you will die and your race will be exterminated. Remember: no matter what, always leave humanity a path of survival."
Feeling the majestic, boundless power suddenly surge within his body, Ren Syke trembled with ecstatic joy. He kowtowed repeatedly, his voice thick with tears.
"I will absolutely not disappoint you, Lord God!"
As the Sagittarius Cloth transformed into a streak of golden light and dissipated, Ren Syke stood up. Gazing in the direction the Darkseeker army had fled, a new hope ignited in his eyes. He tightened his tattered clothes around him, lowered his head, and set off on his journey.
A new legend belonging exclusively to the Darkseekers was quietly raising its curtains.
...
Back in the Sanctuary, Alex’s physical body slowly opened its eyes. A flash of divine light darted across his pitch-black pupils.
He looked up toward the direction of the sacred mountain, raising an eyebrow. Between the Sagittarius Temple and the Scorpio Temple, unbeknownst to anyone, a quaint and archaic palace had appeared, radiating a mysterious aura.
The architectural style of the palace was exceedingly ancient; weathered stone pillars stood tall and erect, supporting the heavens like the arms of primordial giant gods.
The pillars were carved with intricate patterns: winding serpent motifs intertwined with shining stars, every single detail of the snake scales clearly visible.
Occasionally, one could see fragmented, mysterious runes dotting the structure, faintly exuding an aura of healing and salvation.
The dome of the palace was covered with dark gold tiles, reflecting a warm, mellow luster in the night.
"It really is Ophiuchus!"
