Chapter 108: Chapter 54: A Hero in His Twilight? (Part 2)

Under the control of his Cosmo, the Sagittarius Gold Cloth drew the golden bow, aiming directly at the Darkseeker army. A metallic voice, devoid of human warmth, spoke coldly:

"Retreat to the underground now and swear never to set foot within a thousand miles of this temple. If you do, I may yet spare your lives!"

The High Priest let out a raspy, mocking cackle.

"What a massive boast! Who do you think you’re frightening? Where is the arrow on your bow? My King, do not be deceived—his lifespan is surely at its end. He is using this charade only to scare us away!"

"Charge! Slaughter these humans! Our Divine Race is about to reclaim this world!"

The Missing Arrows

Legend had it that the Sagittarius Gold Cloth once possessed three arrows: the Arrow of Shadow, the God-Killing Golden Arrow, and the Arrow of the Goddess. Each possessed its own miraculous properties.

However, due to various circumstances, only one arrow remained. And that single God-Killing Arrow was currently embedded in Saori Kido’s chest. Where was Alex supposed to find another?

Bourne, emboldened by the High Priest’s goading, felt his confidence swell. A flash of relief crossed his eyes.

"The human race truly is despicable—shameless and full of schemes. Fortunately, you discovered his weakness!"

He raised the King’s Sword high, issuing the final command to attack.

"Hear my order! All forces, charge! Kill every human, topple the statue, and raze this temple to the ground!"

"ROAR!"

The cries of millions of Darkseekers caused the very sky to change color. On the ground, corpse-demons with razor-sharp fangs sprinted across the rubble, their claws carving deep furrows into the earth. In the sky, bat-riders blotted out the sun, their flapping wings stirring a black demonic mist like a moving storm cloud. Giant corpse-monsters carried battering rams, each step making the earth tremble violently. The bluestone tiles of the plaza cracked in web-like fractures.

The apocalyptic scene turned the faces of the newly awakened humans deathly pale.

"It’s over... we just got our power, we can’t stop this..."

"Against these numbers, there is no hope for victory!"

Archbishop Robert pushed himself to the limit, constructing a golden shield over the temple and shouting to reassure the crowd: "Do not fear! Our God will save us!"

"Since you wish death then i shall grant it," Alex murmured, his gaze turning icy.

He hadn’t intended to completely eradicate the Darkseeker army. The I Am Legend world’s primary value to him was the generation of Divinity. If he killed them all, the human extraordinaries would have no struggle to endure, no reason to pray, and thus, no way to generate Divinity.

But Bourne and the High Priest’s repeated attempts to dance on the line of death had finally enraged him.

’Killing fifty percent... that shouldn’t be a problem.’

Calculating the power needed, Alex remotely operated the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, slowly drawing the golden bow to its breaking point.

An ice-blue Cosmo and golden Divinity intertwined across the bow’s frame. Behind the Cloth, a pair of massive light-wings unfurled—feathers woven from ice crystals and thunder. With every beat of those wings, fine shards of ice and sparks of electricity cascaded down, painting the sky in a mixture of glacial blue and shimmering gold.

A layer of white frost gradually coated the armor’s surface. Even the bowstring of the golden bow condensed into ice. The surrounding temperature plummeted to its absolute limit, freezing the moisture in the air into a fine, sparkling mist.

Hum!

A translucent arrow materialized on the bow. The tip was a moon-like ice crystal, sharp enough to sever space itself. The shaft was entwined with golden lightning—a living thunder-snake that crackled and hissed, sending sparks flying that carved tiny fissures into reality.

With 30 points of Divinity bolstering his Cosmo, Alex’s power had already surpassed the bearing capacity of this entire world. He could almost hear the world’s consciousness groaning in pain.

"Die!"
