Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 641: Felix’s condition

The hall fell into suffocating silence the moment Gumiho asked that question.

Mo Feng looked at her with parted lips, shock clear on his face. Kharos seemed equally stunned.

As for Jae Hyun, a musing smile appeared on his face. ’Hahaha, does she have nine lives, or is she just plain stupid?’

Vincent’s silver eyes narrowed at Gumiho. This mere beast from a backward place in the Lower Realm truly knew no difference between heaven and earth. How dare she demand an answer from the dragons?

He was just a moment away from making her apologise on her knees when Felix answered, "Dragons aren’t siding with humans."

He leaned back in his chair as he continued, pointing at Vincent, "You see, the humans of this continent pray to the Snow Dragons. When the war between beasts and humans broke out, it was natural for the humans’ guardian dragons to support the humans in the war."

His statement even caught the elders of both clans off guard. They barely managed to keep themselves from breaking into laughter. It was true that the people of the Lower Realm prayed to the Elemental Dragons, serving them as gods. This culture began through the brainwashing of the Almighty Sovereign. After conquering Vyoman, he had accumulated a large amount of negative karma. To reduce it, he spread the lie that dragons were the gods of Vyoman and that by praying to them, one could achieve unimaginable success on the path of cultivation. He even ordered each dragon clan to fulfil the wishes of some people so that the rumour could be firmly established.

After granting life-changing wishes to kingdoms and clans every few hundred years for over tens of thousands of years, the dragons were naturally hailed as Vyoman’s divinity.

But that role of guardian had already become a thing of the past. Dragons no longer needed to act as guardians. They had more accurately become tyrants, growing extremely arrogant after being revered so highly by the people of Vyoman.

That’s why hearing Vincent being referred to as the guardian of these humans elicited such a reaction from the clan elders.

It was more of an insult to him to be considered the guardian of such a lowly race.

Vincent glared at Felix, but the latter merely smiled back at him as if requesting him to play along.

"So it’s not that the dragons are supporting the humans in the war, but just Lord Vincent performing his duty," Felix explained, his tone calm. The friendly smile never vanished from his striking face as he continued, "To be honest, if the dragons really were in support of the humans or acted personally, the beasts would have been wiped out in less than an hour."

Another suffocating silence followed. Riksharaja and Mriga reacted immediately, the former tightening his grip on the armrest while the latter moved the beads in his hand in prayer.

Vyaghra’s amber eyes narrowed at the threatening words, while Gumiho remained completely unreadable.

There were only six dragons present here, with four of them possessing unfathomable cultivation bases. She didn’t possess any information about how many more dragons there could be with such strength.

So it wasn’t really an exaggeration that the dragons possessed the ability to wipe out the beasts within an hour.

"So, if this war ends, it should be beneficial for Lord Vincent as well," Gumiho stated. "The humans he cares about would no longer lose their lives in this meaningless struggle."

Vincent barely kept himself from retorting, while Felix simply nodded in agreement.

Gumiho drew a scroll from her storage pouch and moved it towards the two dragons at the front through the air.

"These are the conditions and offers by the Beast Faction for a peaceful alliance between the two races."

The scroll opened before the court with a wave of Felix’s hand.

He read the details in a calm tone that reached every corner of the hall.

---

Offers:

1. The Beasts grant shared stewardship of the Lingtian Mountains. Each Demi-God or Sacred Beast shall receive one Inner Mountain with superior Soulforce and one hundred Outer Mountains, allocated according to cultivation realm.

2. Both races shall enjoy equal access to the natural resources within the shared ranges under jointly established quotas.

3. The parties pledge joint defence against any external threat to the mountains or either race.

Conditions:

1. A joint Sect shall be established in which both humans and beasts must send disciples. Masters shall be drawn from both races and shall teach cultivation together with the principles of harmony.

2. A Council of Elders, composed equally of humans and beasts, shall oversee shared affairs, mediate disputes, and administer the alliance.

3. Ownership of the Inner Mountains will remain fixed. As for the Outer Mountains, a friendly competition between the disciples of the High-Tier cultivators will occur every ten years. The winner can obtain the territories of the loser.

4. Gumiho shall be the leader of this alliance, overseeing the Council of Elders.

Kharos’s eyes widened as he heard the conditions. They seemed too suspiciously good to be true. If not for the dragons, the beasts clearly held the advantage in the war. They didn’t even know that the dragons were supporting the humans, yet they had come up with such a peace offer that contained no unfavourable condition for the humans except for the last one.

Of course, they would be sceptical about making the beast goddess their alliance leader.

"This is the first draft," Gumiho explained, rising from her seat. "The conditions and offers are flexible."

"Hmm." Felix rubbed his chin in thought. "This is certainly a tempting offer. Not only will it increase the harmony between the two races, but it will also increase the strength of the Western Continent as a whole. But..."

His eyes narrowed at the last condition. "If you are made the alliance leader, what is the guarantee that you would not discriminate between humans and beasts?"

Every Demi-God in the room wanted to ask the same question. Kharos straightened his back, anticipation clear on his face.

"I will take the Soul Oath to provide judgement based on facts without discrimination between the two races."

Gumiho’s revelation elicited a low gasp from the hall.

’She is willing to go that far for humans?’ Kharos gasped inwardly. If it were up to him, he would have immediately accepted this offer. However... humans had no right to decide their fate.

"I can see no problem with this contract," Felix agreed, rising from his seat.

He took slow, deliberate steps towards Gumiho, only stopping when there was a distance of less than five metres between them.

Forming a charming smile on his face, one that had stirred the hearts of countless maidens, Felix continued, "You see, Lord Vincent spent a Divine Artifact to help Mo Feng reach the Demi-God Realm and survive this war. To recover his losses, he asked me to provide him with another Divine Artifact in exchange for half of the Lingtian Mountains once the humans won the war."

Gumiho’s eyes narrowed at his revelation. He released a long sigh. "But since the Lingtian Mountains are basically the foundation of your peace alliance, I can’t possibly take half of them. But again... Divine Artifacts are priceless. I can’t just hand one over to Lord Vincent without getting anything in return. And since he needed the Artifact, the war must continue between the two races until the humans emerge victorious. So..."

His eyes gleamed as he gazed at Gumiho’s figure, which seemed even more enchanting, even more alluring from up close, and he continued, "I have a better solution."

He lowered himself to one knee, placed a hand over his chest, and revealed, "From the moment my eyes fell upon you, you captivated my heart, Goddess Gumiho. I’m willing to offer the Divine Artifact to Lord Vincent, which will end this meaningless war, if... you agree to marry me."
