Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 717: No Incubation Period
Chapter 717: Chapter 717: No Incubation Period
Upon hearing this, Annabelle Linton instantly fell apart in her chair.
’No incubation period...’
’It’s uncertain if this virus can even be cured, and most importantly, there’s no incubation period!’
’Without an incubation period, even if it’s curable, there’s no time to develop an antidote.’
"How long does someone have after getting infected?"
Quentin Holland looked at her and said, "Three to four months, at most."
With no incubation period, the maximum was only three to four months.
"A palliative must have been created along with the virus, right?"
’Leona Grant and I must have been infected around the same time, but she’s already showing complications and I’m not. That has to mean a palliative exists.’
’Vivian Yates, you want me to come find you myself, don’t you?’
TCH—
Annabelle Linton looked at Mr. Holland, tears already welling in her eyes. "Mr. Holland, please don’t tell anyone about this. From now on, start developing an antidote. Just one dose will be enough."
With that, she rose and headed for the door.
Quentin Holland watched her go, a bitter lump forming in his throat. His voice was full of heartache as he said, "Annabelle, the best way to handle this is to go into isolation and then slowly search for an antidote. This virus doesn’t have a known cure. Don’t take any risks. I’m willing to spend years with you developing one. If we can’t find it, then I’ll stay with you for the rest of your life."
Annabelle Linton wiped hard at the corners of her eyes and said with a smile, "Don’t worry. I’ll be fine."
’Since they poisoned us, they must have conditions.’
’So why not go and see exactly what those conditions are?’
’To put it simply, I can’t let Leona Grant take any risks. What if this virus is completely incurable? Am I supposed to just let Leona die?’
Heh.
’Leona Grant, you said that when faced with an impossible choice, you would always choose me. I feel the same way.’
—
Vivian Yates wasn’t hard to find. It only took one phone call.
In a corner of the bar, Annabelle Linton looked coolly at Vivian Yates and got straight to the point. "What are your terms?"
"Oh? Not going to catch up a little, cousin?"
Vivian Yates took an elegant sip of her red wine and said with a wicked smirk.
Annabelle Linton’s gaze was as cold as a bottomless abyss. "Give me the palliative," she said icily. "I at least need to test it, don’t I?"
Vivian Yates covered her mouth and giggled. "As expected of the great Dr. Linton. I guess there really are no difficult cases that can be hidden from you, huh? But what’s the use? You’ve spent your life saving people, yet in the end, you’re still going to die by this virus’s hand. If you’re so capable, why don’t you save yourself?"
Annabelle Linton watched her coldly and scoffed. "You think you’re so high and mighty? You’re just someone else’s pawn. Vivian Yates, don’t forget—the moment I die, you won’t live either."
A flash of shock crossed Vivian Yates’s eyes.
’She never expected this woman to be so clever.’
’Then again, it made sense. How could I have gotten my hands on such a rare virus by myself?’
Vivian Yates’s lips curved into a smile as she said, "It doesn’t matter. Die sooner or later, it’s all the same. If I can drag you down with me, well, that would be a truly meritorious deed."
With that, she placed two pills on the table and said in a cold voice, "Leave Leona Grant within a week. Otherwise, everyone dies!"
Annabelle Linton took the pills and looked at her coolly. "Since there’s no antidote and we’re all going to die sooner or later anyway, what makes you think I have any reason to listen to you?"
