Chapter 715: Chapter 715: Why Is Your Cold So Severe?

When Annabelle Linton heard this, a sharp, violent pain shot through her heart.

If they were both poisoned, facing death with only one chance to be saved, he would save her, and she would save him.

Annabelle Linton smiled and hugged him back, her hand caressing his face. A complex look filled her eyes. "Leona Grant, we’re both going to live well."

"Mm."

...

With no work to do, they were always idle.

After returning to the bedroom, the two of them put on a movie.

But they hadn’t been watching for long before Leona Grant leaned against Annabelle Linton’s shoulder and fell asleep.

Looking at his handsome face, Annabelle Linton couldn’t resist planting a soft kiss on his lips.

’He always said I didn’t love him. That I didn’t love him... But how could that be possible?’

’If I didn’t love him, why would I have stayed?’

’I just didn’t show it, that’s all. The truth is, I really, truly love him.’

Recalling the scenario Leona Grant had described earlier, Annabelle Linton felt an inexplicable emptiness inside, accompanied by a wave of panic.

’If we were ever really faced with a situation like that, what would we do?’

’Would we really have to sacrifice one for the other?’

As Annabelle Linton mulled it over, she suddenly found it a little absurd. It was just an offhand comment, yet here she was, wracking her brain over it. She was being utterly silly.

Annabelle Linton gently laid him down on the bed, placed a pillow under his head, and tucked in the covers. Then she went to brew some medicine for him.

’A cold might seem like a minor ailment, but it’s not something to be taken lightly. So many other illnesses start with a simple cold.’

Leona Grant woke up in the evening, but he wasn’t feeling well. His face was a little pale, and his voice sounded congested.

Annabelle Linton couldn’t help but scold him, then pulled out her first-aid kit to give him a thorough check-up. It was, indeed, just a simple cold.

Worried she might have misdiagnosed him, she called a doctor over. The doctor confirmed it was really just a cold.

’Dressing so lightly and taking a cold bath—it would be a miracle if he *didn’t* catch a cold!’

Although Annabelle Linton looked thoroughly displeased, she still gave him his medicine and a sponge bath.

He didn’t have much of an appetite at dinner, managing only a bite or two of the simple congee.

Seeing that he couldn’t eat, Annabelle Linton lost her own appetite.

That night, she set up an IV drip for him and kept watch by his side.

His heart ached for her, and he told her not to wear herself out, but Annabelle Linton insisted she was fine.

The next day, when Leona Grant woke up, he found Annabelle Linton slumped over by his bed, fast asleep.

Her long hair veiled her face, and the sunlight shining on her created a soft, picturesque scene.

’Looking at her like this, she probably didn’t get a good night’s sleep at all.’

Watching her, Leona Grant was suddenly filled with a mix of guilt and heartache.

He got out of bed, gently lifted her onto it, and covered her with the blanket.

But the moment he covered her with the blanket, she woke up. She groggily reached out, placed a hand on his forehead, and asked sleepily, "How are you feeling?"

A wave of warmth washed over Leona Grant’s heart. He was about to say something, but couldn’t stop himself from coughing.

Annabelle Linton shot up, her brow furrowed with worry as she patted his back to help him catch his breath.

"Why is your cold so bad?"

"It’s not... COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH..."

Leona Grant couldn’t get two words out before he started coughing again.

Annabelle Linton felt this cold shouldn’t be taken lightly and insisted that he go to the hospital.

Leona Grant refused, but he didn’t have a choice in the matter.

After quickly getting ready, the two of them headed to the hospital.

They made an appointment to see a specialist for the check-up.

...Such are the perks of being rich—seeing a specialist for a common cold.
