Chapter 714: Chapter 714: If You Dare to Leave Me, I’ll Die for You to See
Annabelle felt uncomfortable and frowned. "Leona, don’t be like this."
They had just had a fight. She hoped that after their arguments, they could have a proper discussion instead of ending things this way every time.
"Fine."
As Leona spoke, he shifted his head and rested it directly on her chest. His hands were still holding her waist tightly. He said impatiently, "How about now? Is this okay?"
Annabelle was speechless. She placed a hand on his forehead to check his temperature, then said softly, "Leona, I think we still have problems between us. This isn’t good. I think we should take a few days to cool down and really think about what to do next. I don’t want us to always be fighting, always doubting, always mistrusting each other."
Leona lifted his head to look at her and said pitifully, "I was really wrong."
Annabelle sighed. "I’m not trying to make you admit you’re wrong. Besides, I don’t even think you are. I’m just saying that there have always been problems between us. I think we should take a few days to cool off and think. Otherwise, something bad is bound to happen sooner or later if we keep going like this."
Leona let her go and sat up straight. Just as Annabelle thought he was finally going to sit properly, he threw his arms around her neck again, burying his face in the crook of her neck as he spoke.
"Annabelle, I really know I was wrong. These past few days you’ve been gone, I haven’t been doing well at all. I missed you so much. And I got sick. I can’t sleep at night when I don’t see you. Don’t leave me again, okay?"
Annabelle sighed, gently brushing his bangs aside. Her cool hand checked his temperature. He was still burning up.
She gently pressed a kiss on his pale forehead and said, her voice laced with a trace of heartache, "I know you’re sick. That’s why I came. Honestly, you’re a grown man. Why can’t you take proper care of yourself?"
Leona laughed. "If I hadn’t gotten sick, you wouldn’t have come back to see me."
The realization dawned on Annabelle, and she looked at him with displeasure. "How could you do that? It’s your own body. What am I supposed to say if you won’t even take care of yourself?"
Leona looked at her and answered with extreme seriousness, "That’s why you can’t leave me. The moment you leave, I get hurt or I get sick. Even if I don’t get sick on my own, I’ll make myself sick. If it would keep you by my side for a lifetime, I wouldn’t even mind being crippled."
Annabelle truly didn’t know what to say to him anymore.
"You..."
"In short, it’s just one sentence: If you dare to leave me, I’ll die right in front of you!"
Annabelle: "..."
’Why does that line sound so awkward in this context?’
’Then again... he really had done something like that before.’
Annabelle looked at his handsome, flawless face and asked, "Leona, what did I ever do to deserve you loving me this much?"
"It isn’t ’like’."
"Hm?"
"Annabelle, you are my life. You’re an obsession I could never let go of in this lifetime, not even in death. You’re like the very heart inside my body."
After speaking, he smiled again. "I know this makes me sound pathetic and not very cool, but I don’t want to be impressive, and I don’t want to be cool. I just want you."
"Annabelle, if one day we were both poisoned, or faced with a choice where only one of us could live, I would do everything in my power to make sure you were the one who survived."
