Chapter 710: Chapter 710: Annabelle Linton, You Don’t Really Love Me, Do You?

By the time they were done playing, another half hour had passed.

It was getting late. Time to head back.

After the children left, Annabelle Linton looked around for Leona Grant, but she couldn’t see him anywhere.

Her gaze fell, her spirits low.

For some reason, she felt that Leona Grant wasn’t very happy today.

’Is it because of Aaron Wyatt?’

Annabelle Linton stood where she was, lost in thought.

The director walked up to her and patted her on the shoulder. "Annabelle, what are you up to?"

Annabelle Linton snapped out of it and smiled at the director. "Oh, nothing. Just standing here.

The director watched her for a moment before smiling and asking, "You love him very much, don’t you?"

Annabelle Linton looked at the director, confused, unsure of what she was trying to say.

The director looked at her and smiled gently. "I can see from the way you two look at each other that you’re deeply in love. No, actually... he loves you even more than you love him. Love is always like that, full of ups and downs. Annabelle, don’t let someone who loves you slip away, and don’t get hung up on someone who doesn’t. You need to remember that. He went over to the beach. Go talk to him. This situation with you and Aaron... it would be hard for anyone to stomach." ℯ

After hearing this, Annabelle Linton fell silent for a moment before heading toward the beach.

Sure enough, Leona Grant was standing at the edge of the beach, smoking. His tall, slender figure stood perfectly straight.

He was as handsome as ever, yet an unmistakable air of loneliness seemed to cling to him.

Annabelle Linton slowly approached him, pressed her cheek against his back, and wrapped her arms around him from behind.

Leona Grant’s body tensed for a moment, but then he continued to smoke without a word.

Annabelle Linton just held him from behind, and the two of them stood in silence for a long time.

After a while, she let him go and spoke in a low voice.

"When Aaron Wyatt and I first met Donna, he had a very serious congenital disease. It had reached the point where even doctors had given up hope. But we didn’t give up on him. We firmly believed that as long as we gave it our all, we wouldn’t have any regrets, even if we failed. Failure isn’t the scariest thing in the world. What’s truly scary is giving up without even having the courage to try.

Later, we raised money for Donna’s surgery. Right before he went into the operating room, Donna said his only wish in this world was to have a mom and a dad. Aaron Wyatt and I were the only ones who fit the bill, so we pretended to be his parents.

The surgery was a success, and after that, Donna called us ’Mom’ and ’Dad’ for years. We didn’t have the heart to refuse him—we just wanted to give the kid a little bit of happiness. Leona Grant, can’t you understand that?"

"..."

Leona Grant said nothing.

Annabelle Linton looked at his cold, unmoving back. She let out a detached laugh and turned to leave. "Go ahead and be angry. You know perfectly well that Aaron Wyatt and I are just friends, but you can’t get over this mental block, so you keep acting this way. But don’t forget, your feelings don’t just affect you. They have a huge impact on other people, too. Let’s just leave it at that. We both need to calm down."

With that, Annabelle Linton turned and walked away.

Leona Grant watched her go, then spun around to face her.

’She’s walking away so coldly, so resolutely,’ he thought. ’As if without a shred of reluctance to leave.’

’All I wanted was for her to explain things properly. Was that so wrong?’

Leona Grant called out after her retreating figure, his voice filled with sorrow. "Annabelle Linton, you don’t really love me, do you?"
