Chapter 151: Attacking the Kobold Village (2)

The movement of almost three hundred goblins and hobgoblins hardly went unnoticed. The kobolds were prepared when they arrived at the edge of the clearing. But per the Chief’s order, they were not allowed to leave the jungle.

The Kobold Village seemed to be prepared for their advance. Lines of kobolds were stationed near the wall, especially at the broken wall that was shot by the fireball. More Kobold archers were standing on the platform behind the intact wall.

As Red reported, he had taken down one tower on this side. There were two more towers, but that was on the other side. It hardly mattered to them. The Chief wanted the tower to be taken down as well. Around thirteen Kobold Archers cramped in that remaining tower still hadn’t learned their lesson yet.

Red didn’t immediately attack the village. He was not even standing with the group. He was up in the tree, doing a patrol. That was to ensure that there were no Kobold Scouts sneaking up on them.

Just to be safe, he did like three rounds of checking. That was how cautious Red was. But of course, he did three rounds for another reason. It was to renew his blessing.

All his blessings were halfway expired. He still had enough for two hours, but he didn’t want to take the chance. He didn’t know how long this fight would last, so he went further to have his fill before the war.

It seemed the village had a limited number of Kobold Scouts. They were quite weak in face-to-face fights. That made sense that they only had enough numbers to scout since they were not that useful in combat.

Red returned to the group, landing next to the Chief. The others were surprised by his sudden appearance, even the three Goblin Champions, but not the Chief.

"Do you need me to take down the tower first, or do you want me to shoot at them?"

He pointed at the kobolds that lined up in a spot with no wall. There were like forty or maybe fifty kobolds there. The fireball would kill at least half of them if it hit. But the issue was that they could run, while the kobolds in the tower could not run.

"I may only have one attack, as they might storm out of the village after my first attack," He added.

With how prepared the kobolds were, that might be the case. The concern was that they didn’t see a single Elite Kobold Fighter yet. But he could see the kobolds were gathering behind the wall.

"The tower first! We will fight them if they leave their village, and I want you to focus on their backline when that happens."

Red stepped out of the jungle. The kobolds had already found them out; there was no use hiding anymore. He would get closer so he didn’t mess up his aim. That was when he felt something off.

He didn’t know what it was, a strange feeling that made him uncomfortable. He didn’t think much about it and was about to cast his fireball. That was when he saw something; it was more like a dot at first. But the dot was getting bigger, and he realized it was coming to him very quickly.

It was a spear, a big one. The spearhead was glinting dangerously, and he moved quickly. He rolled to the right, avoiding the spear. The spear landed with a loud thud, striking the ground.

He quickly stood up, ready for a second if there was a second one. Fortunately, there was no second spear. The first thing he checked was the bow on his back. He rolled with his bow on his back. His bow was fine, but a few arrows fell off his quiver.

Only then did he check on the spear. The spear’s shaft was as thick as his arm, and its spearhead was silver, glinting in sharpness. That spear was taller than him. It was about one and a half times his height. If that thing hit him, he would die. That thing might not kill him, but he would eventually die.

That was when he realized what that uncomfortable feeling was. It was his instinct sensing the danger. He didn’t know what to feel about this newfound thing. He couldn’t think of anything as of now. His heart was racing as he faced yet another near-death experience. He considered this one because it was a close call.

Red was glad that he didn’t charge up his fireball. He needed to focus on drawing his mana since he was using more mana than the skill required. He might not be able to avoid the spear if that happened.

Levelheaded was activated, helping him to calm down. Once more, he was grateful to have such a skill. He looked up to find who threw the spear.

That was when he saw a towering figure, slowly making an appearance from the other side of the village. The figure was even bigger than the Chief, two heads taller.

It was holding the same spear in both hands, wearing the black armor that fit his build, but it didn’t wear a helmet. Rows of Elite Kobold Fighters followed behind that towering kobold. There were more than forty, or maybe over fifty Elite Kobold Fighters.

The towering kobold raised the spear, and Red quickly moved. He returned to the jungle, climbing up the tree, using it as cover. He moved five trees to the side, positioning himself to shoot his fireball.

The towering kobold, which he assumed was the Chief of the Kobold Village, lowered the spear. The tree became good cover for him. That towering kobold looked daunting for sure, but that was not enough to scare him enough to stop him from shooting his fire.

"Take down the tower!" The Chief ordered

Red charged his fireball, using six times the mana. Once more, the thought of using seven times the mana crossed his mind. It was worth a try to cause massive chaos among the kobolds. However, he stopped himself from trying it. He couldn’t make an error in his attack; his fireball was crucial in this battle. The thirty-second cooldown would be detrimental if he failed to take down the tower.

The kobolds noticed the fire, but there was nothing they could do to stop it. The Kobold Chief raised the spear, trying to take him down. However, Red quickly released the fireball before the Kobold Chief could throw the spear.

The fireball hurtled toward the last tower and collided with it.
