Chapter 512: Chapter 431: Eve of Deployment

The people who survived the apocalypse were no fools. They knew that something so abnormal meant trouble was brewing.

In their eyes, Morhaven Base had never been worth a second thought, except for the fact that it was home to Flora Bloom.

Flora Bloom had discussed it with Sepherdine, Quinn, Seth Warren, and the others. A zombie congregation of this magnitude was not something Morhaven Base could handle alone.

But to make the other bases take this threat seriously, they first needed to earn the trust of their leaders.

Even within their own base, Flora Bloom had to go to great lengths to let everyone see the threat for themselves. What would it take to convince other bases?

So, all one hundred thousand of Morhaven’s superpower users were divided into two groups.

One group, comprising about ninety thousand low-level superpower users, began working day and night. They risked their lives clearing zombies from the cities surrounding Morhaven, all in a frantic push to level up.

The remaining ten thousand superpower users, all Middle Level or higher, were organized by Flora Bloom into training groups based on their ability types.

The Gold Ability Users were dispatched to the major shopping centers to forge weapons and defensive gear. The Earth Ability Users were assigned to a group under Ethan Monroe for specialized defensive training.

The plant-type superpower users trained with Cynthia Grant and Nolan Jennings, focusing primarily on strengthening their control over their vines. Afterward, they would venture into the Morhaven forests to find suitable evolutionary plants and establish channels of communication using their spiritual power.

During the day, the Fire Ability Users trained with Neal Wallace to increase the intensity of their superpowers. At night, they would go with him to the Golden Crow’s territory to face the trial of its True Sun Fire.

All the Fire Ability Users had to stand together and withstand the True Sun Fire blasted by the Golden Crow.

This tested not only the strength of their spiritual power but also each individual’s endurance under extreme conditions.

After all, the Golden Crow’s True Sun Fire could melt anything in existence, to say nothing of human flesh.

Finally, there were the base’s Water Ability Users, who possessed virtually no offensive capabilities.

Superpower users of this element were highly sought after by other bases.

Ever since the apocalypse, clean water sources had become nearly impossible to find.

Even when such a source was located, the mutated creatures living within it were incredibly difficult to handle, and a single misstep could be fatal.

However, thanks to Flora Bloom’s immensely powerful root network, Morhaven Base had a unique advantage. The roots not only cordoned off underground seawater and other water sources but also absorbed and purified harmful substances, treating them as nutrients.

As a result, Morhaven Base had no shortage of water.

In Morhaven, this made Water Ability Users no different from ordinary people.

This time, however, Flora Bloom handpicked a large number of Water Ability Users and formed them into a single squad.

Over ninety percent of this squad consisted of women. Furthermore, because the abundant Water Energy made their skin supple and smooth, even the plainest among them was a beautiful young woman with a remarkable air about her.

Flora Bloom’s goal was to teach these Water Ability Users—who saw themselves as useless—how to protect and defend themselves.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that most Water Ability Users seemed gentle and weak, or that the Water Element lacked offensive power. Water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it.

As long as one’s spiritual power was strong enough, and one could release a sufficient volume of water with enough speed, it was possible to transform that water into all sorts of shapes.

Flora Bloom herself had experimented with transforming water into sharp needles to attack wild beasts.

The destructive power was considerable.

However, compared to controlling the needles with spiritual power, it was far more convenient and less draining to simply attack with a reinforced weapon.

So, the task Flora Bloom assigned to all the Water Ability Users was to repeatedly and completely exhaust their spiritual power each day, replenish it with Crystal Cores, and then drain and refill it again.

Superpower users felt less fatigue than ordinary people, so getting less sleep had little effect on them.

Aside from eating, drinking, and relieving themselves, Flora Bloom allowed them only three hours of sleep.

Of course, Flora Bloom herself followed the same schedule, sleeping only three hours alongside the Water Ability Users.

At first, everyone was on the verge of collapse under this high-intensity cycle of depleting and replenishing their spiritual power.

Having never participated in combat, they didn’t know the agony of complete spiritual power exhaustion.

But Flora Bloom, a powerful and demanding figure, was watching them at every moment. They were together for everything but sleep, even sharing meals.

While they trained, Flora Bloom trained right alongside them.

Initially, no one dared to complain.

Gradually, however, they discovered that their spiritual power had increased significantly after a while. Someone who could originally release only ten cubic meters of water at a time could now release fifteen.

This caused their confidence to soar, and they began to truly believe in Flora Bloom’s training methods.

But after that, Flora Bloom changed the training regimen once again.

Thus, they went from training release volume, to training release speed, and then to training how to compress the water’s volume during release.

The final requirement, which would mark their "graduation," was to be able to compress the released water into a fine needle within a single second.
