Chapter 511: Chapter 431: Eve of Deployment (Part 2)

"It’s not about what it means. You said it yourself. *If* this is really how it is... Well, I’m telling you, it is. So, are you going to kill yourself?"

"You think I’ll believe you?" he retorted stubbornly, though his eyes were already starting to waver.

Flora Bloom’s gaze swept over the representatives from the various teams and factions gathered in Villa Area No. 3.

"I know many of you here—perhaps even all of you—don’t believe me.

Zombies are just byproducts of a viral infection, so how could they have a society and thoughts like humans?

Let me tell you, the intelligence of a Middle Level zombie is high enough for them to strategize and deploy troops—enough to defeat you humans, who don’t even dare to face the truth about them.

And that’s not even mentioning High-level zombies.

A single High-level zombie can take on thousands of humans. Of course, a human High-level Superpower User can also fend off thousands of low-level zombies.

But are your Superpower Levels high enough to defeat them?"

No one said another word.

Just as Flora Bloom had said, they didn’t believe her. Or rather, they didn’t *dare* to believe, unwilling to face the reality of what she was describing.

Even if Sepherdine was reluctant to believe it deep down, he trusted Flora Bloom.

Flora Bloom knew she had said all that needed to be said. All that was left was to deliver the final blow to the subconscious wall of denial they had all erected.

The Golden Crow was now large enough to carry everyone present. So, without waiting for dawn, Flora Bloom had them all leap onto its back and set off toward the first zombie-occupied territory they had discovered that day.

The moment they set foot on the Golden Crow’s back, every single person—from Flora Bloom’s own team to the various captains invited that night—wore an expression of pure gravity.

They knew that after tonight, their comfortable days in Morhaven Base were over.

As soon as she was on the Golden Crow’s back, Flora Bloom nestled into Lex Cross’s arms and fell asleep. She had been guiding the Golden Crow in flight all day, and she was exhausted—not just physically, but mentally.

She had the Golden Crow retrace the flight path from earlier that day. The superpower users had excellent eyesight; at this altitude, they could see everything she could.

No one was a fool, especially not these superpower users. They would see for themselves, analyze the situation, and determine if what Flora Bloom had said was true.

By noon the next day, everyone was sitting on the Golden Crow’s back, physically and mentally exhausted, with dark circles under their eyes and somber expressions. It was then that Flora Bloom finally woke up in Lex Cross’s arms.

She calmly fed Polly some milk and baby food, after which Jade distributed some steamed buns they had kept in reserve.

They all ate mechanically. No matter how exhausted they were, no matter how bloodshot their eyes, none of them felt the least bit sleepy.

Seeing Flora Bloom was awake, one of them asked in a hoarse voice, "Captain Bloom, what... what do we do now?"

"Eat. Then we head back to the base and make a long-term plan."

From that moment on, everyone in Morhaven Base became incredibly united. With Sepherdine taking the lead and Sherman Lynch acting as the battle commander and strategist, all the superpower users merged into a single force.

Seth Warren and Quinn served as two of the squad leaders under Sepherdine, and all the smaller factions within the base were disbanded and integrated into the new force.

Meanwhile, Flora Bloom and Lex Cross’s thirteen-person special forces team would act as the advance squad, planning to assassinate the High-level zombies in the nine zombie gathering sites.

Of course, the fourteen of them were not nearly strong enough on their own. The advance squad was also joined by Isla Preston—a pregnant, High-level zombie—and Joel Bloom, a superpower user with control-type abilities.

Morhaven Base had approximately 100,000 superpower users. Around 90,000 of them were low-level, mostly at rank two. Just under 10,000 were Middle Level, mostly at the first rank of that tier.

As for High-level Superpower Users, there were only fifty, and Flora Bloom’s squad accounted for half of them.

On paper, this force seemed comparable to the smallest of the zombie settlements. But if they were to launch a direct assault on one, it would undoubtedly be a one-way trip.

The low-level zombies alone already outnumbered the entire human population of Morhaven Base.

If it weren’t for the Middle Level and High-level zombies, all the superpower users in Morhaven Base might have stood a chance at clearing out the massive hordes of low-level ones.

However, dealing with a zombie horde that also included a thousand Middle Level zombies and three High-level ones was not going to be as simple as one plus one equals two.

Morhaven Base’s move to recall all of its field-stationed superpower users raised suspicion among the other allied bases. One after another, they sent communication requests, asking what was going on.
