"What are you even thinking? Do you think that I have lived long enough? Why will I waste the rest of my life in prison for a disobedient brat like you?" Old Madam Han was just scaring Han Ziyan. Who would have thought that the woman would take her casual remarks seriously? Did Han Ziyan think her life was so precious that she would waste her leftover good days in jail?

Han Ziyan always carried the guilt of living under the Han family’s roof with a shady identity; naturally, she was filled with terror whenever someone from the Han family showed the slightest bit of animosity toward her. What if they found out that she was Meng Yunhan’s daughter? Then forget about killing her; they would want to skin her alive!

Thus, when she saw Old Madam Han walking toward her with a knife in her hands, she was worried that the woman knew about her identity. With a thief hiding in her heart, how could she not be worried?

Upon hearing Old Madam Han’s response, Han Ziyan inwardly heaved a sigh of relief and took the cleaver in her hands before rushing toward the kitchen. She realised that maybe she had spoken too much already and it was better to keep her mouth shut and do some work. If she continued speaking to Old Madam Han, who knows what might come out of her mouth?

When Old Madam Han saw her running inside the kitchen, she could not help but frown. She had a feeling that Han Ziyan was hiding something from her, but she could not pinpoint what exactly it was.

While Old Madam Han’s suspicions were rising, Han Ziyan was patting her chest. She was overjoyed over the fact that she had hidden the truth from getting leaked, but she had no idea that her actions only made Old Madam Han even more suspicious of her.

"What are you doing here?" Han Yong was preparing stir-fried meat with some leeks and prawns when he saw Han Ziyan walking into the kitchen. However, he hadn’t gone back home for many years; he knew that Han Ziyan was not someone who liked working in the kitchen. There was one time when he asked her to help him cook some rice, and she made a fuss, saying that her hands would end up getting too hard.

Because of this very reason, his mother had scolded him bloody for mistreating his sister just because she was an orphan and adopted by their family.

Don’t think that I do not understand what is going on in your mind. You want to shirk your responsibilities by leaving everything on Ziyan? Don’t even think about it. Just because she is adopted doesn’t mean that she has no one to protect her. Don’t even think about acting like a capitalist just because you think that Han Ziyan has no one to protect her.

Back then, Han Yong had no idea why his mother was scolding him so much; he usually asked both of his sisters to help him in the kitchen, and his mother had never made an issue about it. But all of a sudden, he was named a capitalist because he asked Han Ziyan to help him? Ever since then, Han Yong understood that Han Ziyan’s status was different from theirs, and he did not ask her to help him in the kitchen.

So how could he not be surprised when he saw Han Ziyan coming to the kitchen with a knife in her hands? When was the last time she even entered the kitchen willingly?

Han Ziyan’s face flushed when she saw the look in Han Yong’s eyes. She stubbornly raised her head and glared at Han Yong as if he was looking at her in the wrong way. "What? What are you looking at? It’s not like I have never helped."

Even though she was the one who said that, Han Ziyan turned red in the face. Even she could not believe the lie that she had spoken.

"Help?" Han Yong’s expression turned even more bewildered when he heard Han Ziyan’s response. When had this woman even thought about helping anyone? However, he did not say anything, as he did not want to be accused of bullying Han Ziyan. He pursed his lips and then silently turned his back on her. "Do whatever you want to do."

Han Ziyan rolled her eyes when she saw Han Yong’s actions. Did she look like she was dying to speak to him? Of course not! She immediately walked past him and picked up the piece of pork belly that was kept on the kitchen platform. However, as soon as she picked up the piece of pork belly, she ended up heaving heavily. The smell that was coming from the pork belly was too fishy, as no one had cleaned it up.

Han Ziyan, who had never stepped inside the kitchen, had no idea that the piece of pork belly would smell so bad. She immediately pursed her lips and tried to stop her lunch from coming up, but the harder she tried to keep the food from coming up, the harder it became to keep it in her stomach.

"Ugh..."

Han Yong had just finished deveining the prawns when he heard the sound of someone dry heaving behind him. Upon seeing Han Ziyan cupping her mouth, he frowned and parted his lips to scold her. It was good enough that Han Ziyan was not being of much help when it came to cooking, but what was she doing throwing up in the kitchen? It was just a piece of pork!

But before he could scold her, Han Ziyan brushed past him and rushed outside.

"What the—"

Han Yong did not even understand what was going on, and by the time he came out of the house, Han Ziyan was already sick all over the flowerbed. Seeing her so sick, Han Yong could not understand what was going on.

"What happened?" Old Madam Han also heard the commotion and walked outside, she saw Han Ziyan throwing up and turned to look at Han Yong. "What is going on?"
