The young son looked at the video, and was instantly enamored by the animated vegetables. It’s like they were sucked into the world, not letting their attention waver away from it.

"A-B-C-D-E-F-G..."

And for a few seconds, the duke’s young son didn’t utter a single peep. He remained silent, watching as the vegetables danced in front of him.

At this moment, both the parents were completely surprised. They had never seen their kid so... calm and so serene! Usually, nothing could sate the kid’s tantrum unless he was given the thing that he wanted.

But now, he was not saying anything. He didn’t even jump out of his seat like he usually does.

"Amazing...," the Duke praised. "What is that thing?"

The Lamia attendant smiled. "That, sir, is a tablet. It’s basically a larger screen phone."

"Tablet? Screen? Phone?"

It was at this moment that the Lamia knew that she had done her job properly. Now, a very rich and very powerful duke was interested in phones, which was exactly what their Supreme Leader wanted.

He had specifically asked all Rebornian attendants to subtly show off the uses of the phones so that they would be interested in buying the technology.

"This is a phone," said the Lamia, showing off the phone that was sold in the Nation of Reborn. "This is the keyboard where you can click and input letters..."

The duke looked at the phone that was handed towards him. He inspected it with great interest. "You mean to tell me that this... technology is readily available to all the residents of... your nation, Reborn?"

"And all of our corresponding allies and territories," the Lamia nodded.

"I’ve never seen such a convenient technology for messaging! Honey, buy this one for me!" said the duke’s wife.

Of course, the duke was more than interested in buying the phone. However, he looked at the tablet that was now held by his son. It had a much bigger screen, with no physical keyboard on its front end.

It looked like this ’tablet’ was way more valuable than the phone now in his hands. It was, therefore, much more desirable for someone like the duke, who had everything he wanted in his life. His title suggested the fact that any item held in his hand befitted such stature.

He didn’t want something that the general public had. He wanted something exclusive! Something only he had!

"How about that tablet? I wish to buy one of those," said the duke.

The Lamia pursed her lips and made it seem as if she was hesitating on saying something. "This... this tablet is currently not for sale and is something that is only given to Rebornian employees..."

She was telling the truth. Right now, they weren’t selling the tablet to the general public. But of course, that wasn’t the whole truth.

Michael just made sure that the tablet would become a hard-to-obtain commodity, thereby making it more desirable in the Elite Society. And just as Michael thought, it had the exact same effect that he intended. The duke wanted the tablet.

"Tell me what you want. I will give it to you. You want territory? You want riches? You want to never work again in your life? I can give it to you as long as you give me this tablet."

The Lamia seemed like she was in a very tough spot. "Since it seems like your son likes the tablet, then I will give it to him as a gift," said Lamia.

"You don’t have to do that," said the Duke. "I will compensate you plenty. You think that I can’t?"

"No, of course not, sir. It’s just that we are prohibited from selling the tablet. However, there is no rule saying that I cannot gift it to someone else."

The duke’s eyebrows raised, completely taken aback by the demi-human’s generosity. He had always been the one generous, as a duke. He had never had someone else giving him something without an ulterior motive.

"Still... I must compensate you. By giving me this tablet, you are risking your own job. You may even lose it if your superiors find out that you have given this tablet to someone else."

And in this regard, the Lamia was very assured. "No need to worry. Lord Michael will not punish me for such things. He rewards good deeds. That’s why we follow him."

The Lamia then continued. "But if you really insist on something else, then I shall urge you to buy this phone from me. It is a more advanced version of the one that we have at our Nation."

It was at this point that she showed him the new version of the phone.

The touchphone.

It was a much smaller version of the tablet, but with all the features of the phone. It could message, it could browse the internet, it could take pictures, it could do everything and more!

And best of all, it was, as the duke wanted, exclusive! This phone wasn’t sold to the general public yet.

Michael had made sure to sell the touchphones only to the Elite Society in order to cater to their luxurious needs.

Once he was handed the phone, the Duke immediately glowed in joy. "This is good! This is exactly what I wanted. I shall purchase this from you."

"That’s great!" said the Lamia attendant. "Now, I’ll only need to sell 99 more phones in order to meet my quota."

The Duke immediately shook his head. "No, I shall buy all that you have in stock right now. With me buying your phones, you’ll exceed your quota by thrice than your other employees!"

"REALLY?!"

"Yes! And I see that your company is offering food and drinks and other products. I’ll buy those as well. I’ll make sure that they know I bought it because of you, demi-human."

The Lamia could almost burst from joy. She only came here to sell the touchphone. But ended up selling almost everything she had in stock!

"I shall procure everything for you and your family!" said the Lamia. "Except for these appliances..."

"Huh?"
