Reborn as an Extra
Chapter 824: Rex Family, Origins! Part-9.
While Allen and the others were busy in the meeting, Farim rushed towards the temporarily set healing ground where Meena was supposed to be working.
"Wha-what’s going on? Where is Meena? How did she faint?"
Being pressured by Farim’s powerful aura, the guards nearby felt their legs turn into jelly as cold sweat covered their forehead.
"S-sir, Lady Meena has been transported to the palace in Lady Astra’s personal healing office."
Hearing those words, Farim let go of the guard and hurriedly rushed back to the palace and made his way to Astra’s office in a matter of a millisecond!
"Oh, you are here. You rush things too much; sit down on that chair, and let me check her."
Astra, who was supposed to be in the meeting, had already made her way to the office before Farim and was instructing the other healers to place Meena’s unconscious body on the patient bed in the office.
Farim nodded at Bela to show his gratefulness and walked over to the bed on which Meena was lying down.
With a worried look on his face, Farim sat down on the nearby chair and held Meena’s palm tightly as if he feared that she would fly away with the wind and leave him behind.
Seeing this scene, Bela could only sigh and walk over to the other side of the bed to do the checkup.
With practised ease, Bela placed her hand on Meena’s neck and easily found the carotid artery, which was still beating with the rhythm of the heart, which meant that Meena was alive and she had only fainted for some reason.
’Let’s just do a full body checkup...’
[Master Grade Healing Magic: Maximum Detection Output: Full Body Scan!]
It only took Bela a mere few milliseconds to scan the entirety of Meena’s body, and a sudden frown appeared on her face.
"Hmmm?"
Farim, who had been watching Bela’s expression, panicked and hurriedly asked,
"Wh-what’s wrong? I-is there something wrong with her?"
Hearing those questions, Bela looked at Farim with a weird gaze for a second, then she took a long breath of relief and spoke in an awkward tone.
"It’s nothing serious; she’s perfectly fine. It’s just that she’s exhausted because of spending too much mana and energy in healing others. But..."
A look of hesitation appeared on Bela’s face, but then she looked at Meena’s face for a second and then decided to speak out the truth.
"Look, as you know, awakeners are still considered mortals even if they reach rank S... so even they need proper rest and mental peace from time to time."
"This is especially true for female awakeners who are ’Pregnant’... they need a lot of care. You shouldn’t have let her work so hard on healing others in her current state."
Hearing those words, Farim’s mind went blank, and his jaw almost fell on the floor from sheer shock!
"P-pregnant!?"
Seeing that reaction, Bela finally understood the situation.
"So you didn’t know either? Wait, could it be that she was keeping it secret from all of us so that she could keep working as a healer for longer?"
"Sigh, this idiot disciple of mine... doesn’t she know that for a pregnant awakener using too much mana during pregnancy can be dangerous for the child’s well-being? Sigh... I must scold her when she wakes up..."
Bela walked over to the stunned Farim’s side, patted the fellow on the shoulder and spoke,
"Congratulations, you are about to become a father."
"Don’t worry, I have already checked the situation; currently she’s only in the first stages of pregnancy, so the child won’t be affected much by this current recklessness of hers..."
"But she must not do this reckless thing again in the future until after a few months of the child’s birth. For now, she’s only exhausted due to loss of too much mana; if she rests and recovers, things will be fine..."
Bela caressed Meena’s sleeping face lightly and spoke,
"She’s my lovely disciple, and I care about her a lot. I advise you hurry up and marry her as fast as possible. An unmarried woman getting pregnant would bring the scrutiny of the society..."
"Although times have changed and no one would dare to mistreat a powerful healer like her... for her and the child’s well-being, I would still advise you to not waste time and settle the matter properly..."
"Being undecisive is never a good choice in these kinds of matters."
Seeing that Farim could not find words to speak, she decided to give the other party some time to organise his thoughts.
"I should go back to the meeting; you stay by her side for now, and once she wakes up, ask her about what she wants to do in the future."
"The good thing is that the war has ended for now, and we will all soon head back to the human empire; you can both find enough time to marry and settle down."
With that said, Bela left the office to give the two some personal space.
Once Bela left, Meena, who was pretending to be unconscious, suddenly opened her eyes and looked straight into Farim’s eyes.
Sensing that gaze, Farim snapped out of his daze and immediately hugged Meena tightly in his arms.
"You really made me worried back there. You shouldn’t have exhausted yourself like that... when I heard you had fainted... I..."
A gentle smile appeared on Meena’s face as she patted Farim’s back and spoke.
"Idiot, I am not going anywhere... well, I guess it’s my fault that I didn’t tell you anything beforehand..."
"Hehe, congratulations; you are going to be a dad."
Hearing those words, tears appeared in Farim’s eyes as he kissed Meena on the forehead.
"You really know how to surprise me; I almost fainted from hearing this you know..."
"It’s good news. Thankfully, the war is over too; we can go back home and settle down; we can start a family."
At those words, Meena giggled a bit and asked,
"Are you perhaps proposing to me right now? If you are, your marriage proposal is quite hasty and lacking in preparations, isn’t it?"
"But well, I always knew that you were the straightforward type, so I guess it’s me who’s to blame for not telling you about it all from the get-go..."
Meena looked into Farim’s eyes as she smiled and spoke,
"Although the proposal is kind of lacking, I don’t particularly hate it... I accept! I will marry you, Farim."
Hearing those words, Farim’s eyes brightened and he nodded with tears.
"Good, this is good... hehe... I love you, Meena."
Farim and Meena had both spent years together and had survived various life-threatening situations; their bond was already strong enough, so they had no need to beat around the bush about various sensitive topics like marriage.
With a simple talk, they both decided to get married.
The good news was that the academy had already graduated them years ago due to the war becoming longer and longer.
Although the two of them were only twenty years old and just young adults, in this chaos-filled world where millions could die in a matter of minutes, it was better to marry early and settle down, as no one knew when this short life would meet its end suddenly.
In the next few days, aside from the guards left to help the dark elves recover, the rest of the human armies retreated back to the human empire, and Bela and the others personally escorted Farim and Meena back home.
The two of them bought a home in a secluded but beautiful location and married each other with great fanfare!
Allen personally came to act as the marriage officiant and verbalized the vows of marriage for the two.
Sitting on the balcony of their newly bought house, Meena looked at the distant mountain scenery and suddenly spoke.
"By the way... we haven’t thought about a name for the child... I have been meaning to tell you, but I wanted our child to have a new surname!"
Hearing those words, Farim’s eyes lit up.
"That’s a wonderful idea! If it’s a boy, then Arthur; if it’s a girl, then Mona! As for the surname, how about we both combine our names to make a new one?"
Meena also nodded her head at that question.
"Truthfully, I don’t want our child to inherit the surnames of the two of us because we both know what we had to go through due to these surnames..."
The two of them had already spent more than five years together, and they knew what kind of past they both had.
In terms of parents and families, they were both unfortunate people; even Meena had suffered great loneliness due to her mother’s strict nature.
She did not want her children to inherit this misfortune.
"Hmm... a surname that would sound domineering and gentle at the same time..."
Farim’s eyes lit up as he suddenly spoke out,
"I got it... If it’s a boy, then Arthur Rex! If it’s a girl, then Mona Rex! The word ’Rex’ means ’King’! A king can be both domineering like me and gentle like you!"
A happy smile appeared on Meena’s face after hearing those words.
"Good, I like that name."
What the two of them did not know was that unknowingly they had founded a new family!
They had both become the founders of the Rex Family that would go on to become the greatest and most powerful family in the entire human empire!
People like Ashtel Rex and Link Rex would be born in this family in the future and would act as the pillars of support for the nation in times of need!
Farim and Meena had planted the first seeds that would in time become the origins of the mighty Rex family!
