RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 129: Blood Of Progenitor (Part 1)
Vermilion Realm, City of Vance...
The moon shone brightly above the City of Vance, looking like a round pearl that adorned the night sky.
Twinkling, small stars surrounded it from all sides, making it look even more glorious.
The people of the city were enjoying the beautiful night view when suddenly—
Rumble!
Black clouds began to gather high in the sky, with the sound of rumbling thunder echoing across the entire city.
Thunder! Thunder! - - - -
In just a few seconds, the clear sky was surrounded by black clouds as streaks of lightning moved between them like snakes.
In Sun and Moon Academy, Norman, who was lying like a log inside his villa, suddenly felt a heart-palpitating sensation and was jolted awake.
Thunder! Thunder! - - - -
The sound of rumbling lightning reached his ears, making him feel as if his heart was about to explode for some reason.
In fact, it wasn’t just Norman who felt this. Every single individual who possessed a certain level of strength felt this heart-palpitating sensation.
Compared to them, people with weaker powers did not feel anything, and the rumbling of the lightning wasn’t any different from normal lightning to them.
Norman’s figure disappeared from his villa, and he appeared on its rooftop, looking at the rumbling black clouds with a serious expression on his face.
"What is this strange feeling?" He muttered under his breath, feeling that his heartbeat was much faster than normal.
Generally speaking, his body had long since broken free from its shackles, and even if his heart were to be destroyed, he wouldn’t die immediately. He would only be seriously injured.
But right now, even this slight increase in his heartbeat gave him a very uncomfortable feeling, making him feel confused.
He stared at the lightning moving between the black clouds, and the frown on his face deepened.
Just then, another figure appeared beside Norman.
Norman glanced sideways and saw a man who looked to be in his early fifties standing beside him.
The man was nearly two meters tall and had shoulder-length purple hair. His eyes were similar to his hair, purple in color, and faint lightning flickered within them from time to time.
The man was none other than Duke Charles, the principal of Sun and Moon Academy.
"Old man, you are the best when it comes to lightning. Do you know what’s going on?" Norman asked as he continued to stare at the black clouds.
"I don’t know why you call me old man when you are not much younger than me..." Duke Charles shook his head and spoke with a chuckle.
"Don’t bullshit," Norman immediately retorted. "You are a freaking old fossil who is over four hundred years old. Don’t compare me to yourself."
"Aren’t you also over three hundred years old?" Duke Charles replied with a smile. "At our current age, this small difference in our age doesn’t matter anymore, right?"
"Heh..." Norman sneered when he heard Duke Charles’s words but didn’t bother to bicker with him.
"Forget about it. Just tell me if you know what’s going on."
Duke Charles looked at the rumbling black clouds, and his expression turned serious.
"From what I can feel, it seems like the rules of the world itself want to strike down someone. But they are unable to act for some reason, causing all the law lightning to rumble in the sky without being able to descend."
"Wants to strike down someone..." Norman’s expression changed slightly. "Is this related to those stupid cults? Those bastards are always trying to do something that violates the rules of the world."
"It’s possible." Duke Charles nodded. "They might be trying to summon a Heretic God here, causing the rules of the Vermilion Realm to react."
Norman’s expression turned even more serious at the mention of a Heretic God.
"Then why are you standing here doing nothing? Let’s go and search for those bastards..." He looked at the black clouds in the sky. "These clouds are focused above the City of Vance, so it’s very likely that those people are trying to summon that Heretic God somewhere in the city."
Duke Charles remained silent at Norman’s words and looked at the clouds with a frown. After a moment, he spoke in a low voice.
"Why do you think the law lightning isn’t striking down and is merely gathering in the sky?"
"That..." Norman frowned, and a look of confusion appeared on his face. "Do you know?"
Duke Charles rolled his eyes at his question.
"If I knew, why would I ask you?"
"Stop acting like a senile old man and just speak out your thoughts," Norman said irritably while rubbing his forehead.
Duke Charles didn’t respond to his words and remained silent.
However, Norman could feel vast soul power spreading out from Duke Charles’s body, slowly enveloping the entire City of Vance.
"Using soul sense to search for the culprit is useless. There are many noble mansions here in the city, and your soul sense can’t possibly break through the protection of every single one of them..." Norman spoke in a low voice. "If I were to conduct a ritual to summon a Heretic God in the City of Vance, I would definitely choose a place with a powerful concealment array."
Duke Charles knew Norman was right, and he couldn’t pry into every mansion.
It wasn’t that his soul sense wasn’t strong enough to bypass the security arrays of those mansions.
But doing so would definitely make all the nobles unhappy.
Soon, Duke Charles’s soul sense covered the entire city, but he didn’t sense any aura of a summoning ritual from anywhere.
He thought for a moment before speaking to Norman.
"Let’s wait for some time. I don’t know why the law lightning isn’t striking down the culprit, but if a Heretic God is really being summoned, it will definitely act. Once the law lightning acts, we can immediately find the location."
Norman sighed and nodded as he also knew normally searching the entire city would take a lot of time.
"That’s the only thing we can do."
Duke Charles stopped using his soul sense, but when his soul sense passed through Mist Mountain, he felt a violent aura coming from it.
His soul sense paused there for a moment, but when he carefully sensed the unstable and violent aura from within Mist Mountain, his expression turned a bit strange because he recognized the aura.
’Is she having another episode?’ He thought to himself, but didn’t pry deeper, as he knew that if he dared to spy on her, that woman would come to fight him immediately.
As for thinking that she was trying to summon a Heretic God, Duke Charles didn’t even consider it, as he knew her very well.
"Well, considering her foul mood, if a Heretic God appeared right now, she might be the first one to jump out and fight it."
He muttered with a chuckle and shook his head.
