RE: LORD OF TIME

Chapter 128: Prelude to Chaos (Part 2)

Cracks in Time....

Cracks in Time was a dimension with no concept of light, darkness, space, distance, time... Nothing existed in this dimension.

This entire dimension was filled with countless layers of illusionary mirrors, with each mirror representing a different node of time.

Some nodes led to the future, some to the past, while some represented the current time.

Moving throughout these countless mirror-like layers were creatures known as Time Devourers.

There were worms, similar to the one that had attacked William right after he broke through to the Star Warrior level.

There were Time Devourers in the shape of tigers, lions, bears, snakes, ants... There was no definite shape for these creatures, and all of them looked different from one another.

These Time Devourers moved freely within the Cracks in Time, without becoming confused or being affected by the rules of this dimension.

But once someone other than a Time Devourer somehow entered this dimension, they would immediately feel the terrifying power of the rules of the River of Time that was connected with this dimension.

Time Devourers were creatures that were born within the Cracks in Time to maintain its stability, ensuring that no one could interfere with the timelines by traveling into the future or the past.

Inside the Cracks in Time, even a Star Warrior-level Time Devourer had enough power to fight against people of a higher rank than itself.

But most of these low-level Time Devourers only acted on instinct and followed the orders of higher-level Time Devourers to patrol throughout the Cracks in Time.

Unlike these low-level Time Devourers, higher-level Time Devourers were more sentient, and their intelligence was no lower than that of other races, such as humans.

At this moment, all of these sentient Time Devourers were in a state of panic because the entire Cracks in Time dimension was showing signs of instability, with all the layers of mirrors trembling violently.

"What is going on? I have never seen the dimension become so unstable before."

A tall, bear-like Time Devourer, who was nearly as tall as a mountain spoke in a rumbling voice as it looked at the layers of mirrors that were trembling violently.

"There is something wrong with the timeline. Someone is messing with it... And in a way that has never happened before."

A small bird, no bigger than the palm of a hand spoke in a serious voice as silver ripples spread out from its tiny body, stabilizing the area around them.

"I just had a thought exchange with the others. It is not just our area that is experiencing this anomaly."

A tall monkey with bulging muscles covering its entire body spoke. "Other than a few realms, the Cracks in Time in almost all the realms are showing signs of instability."

The expressions of all the Time Devourers became even more grave upon hearing this.

"Even when that God of Time tried to mess with the timeline, there wasn’t such a reaction. Could it be that someone even more powerful than him somehow escaped our detection and has entered a different timeline?"

The bear asked with a deep frown on its face.

"Impossible..." The small bird shook its head.

"Aevion was already an exception. He could survive the annihilating power of the River of Time because of his unparalleled mastery over the Rules of Time. There is no way someone other than him could sneak into a different timeline without any of us noticing."

The other three Time Devourers fell silent upon hearing the small bird.

"Then, is it possible that this is his work again?" The lion asked in a hesitant voice.

"He is already dead..." The small bird spoke in a low voice. "His death has already been confirmed by Big Guy."

All of them remained silent at her words, as they also knew about this.

But other than Aevion, the God of Time, they couldn’t think of anyone who could cause such a great disturbance across the entire Cracks in Time.

"By the way, have any of you found the source of the recent disturbance that occurred in the Cracks in Time of the Vermilion Realm?"

The small bird suddenly asked.

"No..." The giant bear shook its head. "We are still looking for clues, but we still haven’t found anything."

"Is it possible that this chaos is related to that disturbance?" The monkey asked while scratching its butt.

"It shouldn’t be. Although that disturbance was not small, it was nothing compared to—"

"I think you should look at the Cracks in Time of the Vermilion Realm before speaking."

The lion stopped the small bird midway through its sentence, staring far ahead, its deep yellow eyes glowing with a hazy light.

The small bird was confused by the lion’s words, but as it followed its gaze and looked toward the Cracks in Time of the Vermilion Realm, its small body stiffened, and a look of disbelief appeared on its face.

"How is this possible?" The small bird screamed, its body trembling slightly.

At this moment, the entire Cracks in Time of the Vermilion Realm was trembling violently, as if it were experiencing a massive earthquake.

The layers of mirrors within it were filled with cracks, as if they could collapse at any moment, while new layers of mirrors were slowly emerging, representing completely new realities compared to the previous ones.

"What is going on with this realm?"

The giant bear asked while rubbing the back of its head.

The other three Time Devourers remained silent, not responding.

After a moment of silence, the small bird took the lead and spoke.

"Let’s go and check it out."

The others nodded, and they were about to leave when a faint voice suddenly echoed inside their heads.

"You all don’t need to act this time."

All four Time Devourers stopped when they heard the voice and looked at each other, confusion appearing in their eyes.

Though they were confused, they did not dare to go against the voice that had just sounded in their heads, and they did not go to the Vermilion Realm to investigate.

Deep within the Cracks in Time, an enormous figure of a whale-like creature swam within a flowing river.

The river flowed amid the layers of mirrors, appearing as if it existed, yet at the same time, did not truly exist in reality.

The whale-like creature turned its head in the direction of the Vermilion Realm, and a sigh escaped its mouth.

"My old friend, just what kind of monster have you chosen as your successor..." It muttered before diving into the river.

"If he continues to cause ruckus like this, it won’t be long before he is discovered."
