Chapter 1615: I'm Very Disappointed in You

On the third day, early in the morning, Alice Turner, Thomas Fisher, along with Anthony and Finn, and their arranged team flew back to Flame City in a grand entourage.

Before returning to the country, Thomas Fisher had already made phone calls to arrange accommodations and workspaces for the group, but Alice Turner said she’d check them out after getting there.

“Sis! Brother-in-law! You two should first go get the marriage certificate; I’ll handle the branch company matters, you just supervise me.”

Anthony didn’t want to delay Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner’s plan to get their marriage certificate. On the second day back in Flame City, he urged them to go get it.

Thomas Fisher was naturally happy about this, but he couldn’t just ignore Alice Turner’s feelings. He didn’t say anything proactively, instead quietly waiting for her opinion.

“Got it, we’ll get the marriage certificate first.”

Seeing the hopeful look in Thomas Fisher’s eyes, Alice Turner really couldn’t bring herself to say “let’s wait a bit longer,” so she nodded in agreement to go get the marriage certificate first with Thomas Fisher, intending to focus on work afterwards.

“Alice! You agreed, I’m so happy.”

Upon hearing Alice Turner agree, Thomas Fisher excitedly hugged her. If Anthony weren’t there, she’d really want to give him a big kiss.

But, for now, she’d let it be; he could hold back a bit.

Thomas Fisher’s excitement and happiness came to an abrupt end when he went home to get the marriage certificate; he couldn’t find the household registration book.

“What are you looking for?”

Seeing Thomas Fisher rummaging through the drawers leaving a mess, Autumn York already guessed what was up, though she didn’t reveal it.

Thomas Fisher was quite straightforward, extending his hand to ask his mom for the household registration book, “Where did you hide the household registration book?”

The reason for not finding it was clear — his mom had hidden it.

“What do you need the household registration book for?”

Autumn York casually asked, but she was as clear as a mirror inside; she knew full well what Thomas Fisher was planning with it.

Seeing his mom calm and without a hint of surprise, Thomas Fisher confirmed his suspicion, “I’m going to get the marriage certificate with Alice; give me the household registration book.”

“I don’t agree.”

Autumn York was absolutely the authority at home, preserving vital documents like the household registration and property certificates. She worried that Thomas Fisher might pull such a move, so she had already locked the household registration book in the bank’s safe.

He was eager to get the certificate, but her opposition was firm.

Seeing his mom’s attitude, Thomas Fisher was both angry and impatient, “Whether you agree or not, Alice and I are getting married. Hurry and take out the household registration book.”

“Without my permission, you won’t get that marriage certificate.” Autumn York was extremely domineering, her words forceful, and her actions resolute.

“Mom!”

Thomas Fisher shouted at Autumn York in exasperation, with disappointment and anger in his voice.

Autumn York seemed oblivious, “At times like these you remember you have a mother. But when you ran off to the Derry Kingdom with that girl, did you spare a thought that you have a mom back home?”

The matter of Thomas Fisher following Alice Turner to the Derry Kingdom filled Autumn York with rage, and she had been waiting for a chance to vent. He just happened to walk into it.

“I’m very disappointed in you.”

Thomas Fisher didn’t argue any further with Autumn York nor did he continue pressing for the household registration book at home. He gave her a deep look, turned around, and stormed out of the house.

“I’m disappointed in you too.”

Autumn York was also very angry, shouting at the defiant figure walking away. Her only response was the sound of the door slamming heavily.
