Chapter 1607: You Two Need to Dial It Down

  • Next Chapter

Anthony arranged for Chinese food, just to ensure Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher could eat comfortably; he was fine with both Chinese and Western cuisine.

Alice Turner was feeling genuinely hungry, so during the meal, she temporarily put aside the odd dynamics between Thomas Fisher and Anthony, focusing on her food.

Thomas Fisher also pushed the events that happened upstairs out of his mind, accompanying Alice Turner with undivided attention to the meal.

However, Anthony couldn’t shake off the awkwardness of earlier events, but as time ticked by, he gradually began to forget.

"Jacob! After we finish eating, come with me to see your dad," Alice Turner swallowed her food and looked up at the person sitting across from her.

Anthony paused, chopsticks in mid-air, as he heard Alice Turner’s words. His gaze shifted from the food to her, "Are you going to say goodbye to my dad? Can’t you stay a few more days?"

When she mentioned seeing his dad, he knew she was planning to say farewell.

The thought of her leaving so urgently made him uncontrollably emotional.

"What’s up with you? Can’t bear to see me go, huh?"

Alice Turner, aware of Anthony’s sentiment, still voiced it directly. Her tone feigned ease.

After five years together, their friendship had grown profoundly deep.

Given his unique status, he didn’t dare to make friends easily; those he did were rare and sincere, and she was his only true confidant.

He cherished this hard-won friendship, akin to sibling ties.

Anthony’s eyes grew moist, but he stubbornly forced back his tears, "Of course I don’t want you to leave, do you really want to leave me?"

Learning from her, although he felt uneasy inside, he tried to appear relaxed.

"Hey, hey, hey! You two, ease up. Your fiancé is still here, does it feel like you’re ignoring me?" Thomas Fisher sensed the heavy mood between them and spoke up, aiming to lighten the atmosphere a bit, away from the gloom.

Anthony shot him a glare, "Ugh! It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, my sister and I wouldn’t be parting so soon; I dislike you."

He rolled his eyes several more times.

"Plenty of people dislike me; who do you think you are?"

Thomas Fisher mimicked the style of a certain comedic actor, replying to Anthony.

But Anthony had never watched that skit and didn’t realize Thomas Fisher was imitating a comedian. Still, Thomas’s tone and expression amused him.

"Look at you, all smug, as if you have admirers lining up for you." After laughing, he snorted at him mockingly.

"I don’t care if others like me; as long as your sister likes me, I’m good." As Thomas Fisher said this last sentence, he reached out to hold Alice Turner’s hand resting on the table. His tone and attitude turned serious in an instant.

Witnessing the scene across from him, Anthony’s lips curled up in a smile, "Sis! Your husband here is so shameless; if you don’t rein him in, he’s going to get carried away."

His teasing was playful, with no malicious intent, just cheerful banter among family.

"Let him fly as he wishes, as long as he remembers to come back." Alice Turner smiled at Thomas Fisher, then looked at Anthony, "Hurry up and eat; after the meal, we’ll go see the boss."
