Chapter 1502: Don’t Go Home and Make a Fuss with Her

  • Next Chapter

Alice Turner hadn’t expected Thomas Fisher to say that, to actually agree to her going to meet Benjamin Shaw that evening. She tightened her fingers around the hand he was holding, wordlessly expressing her gratitude—gratitude for his trust in her.

It wasn’t just Alice herself who hadn’t expected it; even Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood, the married couple, hadn’t seen it coming.

The two of them had thought Thomas would join them in opposing Alice, but instead he gave them an unexpected answer.

Because Thomas suddenly spoke up and agreed to let Alice go see Benjamin, Sophia and Christopher didn’t say anything more about it, leaving the power to decide and handle the matter to the two of them.

After that, it was as if the four of them had agreed in advance—no one brought up the evening again, and the four of them happily started eating.

Things had calmed down on the Turner Family’s side, but over at the Shaw Family, it was anything but calm.

After leaving the Turner Family home, Isla Lane called Alexander Shaw right away, telling him on the phone that whatever he was dealing with right now he had to drop immediately, and as soon as he did he was to come home.

Something huge has happened at home!

That was the last sentence Alexander heard Isla say over the phone. His brows furrowed tightly—something huge had happened at home! What major thing had happened at home?

Isla rarely called Alexander during his working hours, unless something very serious had happened at home.

Hearing her say there was a major issue at home, he didn’t dare slack off for a second. Still holding his phone, he immediately got up and left his office.

Once Alexander stepped out of the office, he told his secretary to postpone the senior management meeting scheduled for the afternoon; as for the exact time of the delay, he’d call later to inform them.

After giving his instructions, he strode into the elevator.

Alexander walked out of the elevator into the underground parking lot. Just as he was about to get in his car and head straight home, he suddenly saw Benjamin’s car driving in from the entrance.

He stopped in the middle of getting into his car and stood there, waiting for his son.

Benjamin saw his father too. Not knowing what was going on, he thought his father was heading out on some business. It never occurred to him that his mother had called.

He didn’t try to avoid him or skirt around; Benjamin parked the car, got out, and walked toward Alexander, who was waiting by his own car.

"Dad!"

As he walked over, he greeted his father, then, after saying hello, headed toward the elevator.

"Did your mom call you?"

Hearing Alexander’s question, Benjamin, who had been walking toward the elevator, instinctively stopped. He froze for a moment, then turned his head to look at his father.

"My mom called you?" He answered with a question.

"Your mom just called me and said something big has happened at home." The moment Alexander saw Benjamin, he suddenly put two and two together—when Isla had said something big had happened at home just now, it must have been because she knew Alice was back.

Seeing Benjamin like this now only made him more certain of his guess.

At that, Benjamin’s brows snapped together. "My mom is making a fuss over nothing. Don’t go home and... make a fuss with her."

He almost blurted out "don’t go home and mess around with her," but luckily he caught himself in time and changed his wording.

"Your mom is making a fuss over nothing? You know what big thing happened at home?" Alexander pretended not to understand even though he did, and deliberately asked Benjamin this, just to coax some information out of him.

Benjamin wasn’t stupid; there was no way he couldn’t see what his father was getting at, especially when his father’s intentions were that obvious. "Dad, stop pretending you don’t get it when you do. That’s not like you."
