Just then, Sophia Wood had just seen off Isla Lane and Charlotte Shaw and returned to the restaurant. Earlier, she was thinking she would quietly ask Alice Turner about her situation after dinner.

But as soon as she got back, she heard her daughter mention she had plans for the evening, and she couldn’t hold it in any longer, striding over to take her seat.

"You’re not allowed to see Benjamin Shaw tonight."

Sophia was just about to ask something when Christopher Turner spoke first with an absolute assertiveness, leaving no room for negotiation.

Hearing her dad’s overbearing command, Alice Turner furrowed her brows sharply, but unlike before, she didn’t confront him directly. Instead, she softened her tone and attitude, "There are some things I have to clarify with him. I don’t want to be entangled with him."

She originally planned to handle this matter quietly, but who would have thought that one call from that man would expose everything.

Did that man do it on purpose?

In her heart, Alice Turner gave Benjamin Shaw the middle finger, expressing her disdain and outrage at his behavior.

"Has Benjamin been harassing you? You just told me he hasn’t been bothering you." Sophia Wood looked worriedly at Alice Turner, regardless of whether Thomas Fisher was still around.

Hearing the Turner family’s conversation, Thomas Fisher’s expression changed to one less pleasant, "Alice! What is going on? Has he been pestering you?"

He and Benjamin had agreed to fair competition, and now that he and Alice were engaged, Benjamin shouldn’t have any more ideas, right?

"No! He hasn’t been harassing me, you all don’t have to be so nervous. I just want to talk to him in person to avoid awkwardness when we meet in the future." Alice Turner didn’t want them to know about the time she agreed to leave Thomas Fisher for Benjamin Shaw in order to get a divorce back then.

This matter, especially, must not be known to Thomas Fisher. He would definitely be angry if he knew, and she didn’t want to see him upset.

It’s not because she’s afraid of his anger towards her, but because she couldn’t bear to see him upset. He’s already endured so much being with her, she couldn’t add more to his burdens or let him make things difficult for himself because of her.

Hearing Alice Turner say Benjamin Shaw hasn’t been bothering her, Sophia Wood felt much more relieved, but she still disagreed with Alice Turner meeting Benjamin Shaw. "You divorced five years ago, what’s there left to say? Don’t meet him tonight."

Sophia’s stance was endorsed by both Christopher Turner and Thomas Fisher, with Christopher even directly adding, "Don’t go, there’s nothing more for you two to talk about."

Five years ago, Benjamin Shaw’s attitude towards Christopher Turner still left him resentful to this day. Now, with Thomas Fisher being so respectful to him as his future father-in-law, he was even more displeased with Benjamin Shaw.

Both men are excellent, but he had to choose a son-in-law who would be good for their family.

"Dad! Mom! You two can rest assured, I know what I’m doing. Your daughter is very measured in her actions." Alice Turner’s determination to meet Benjamin Shaw was unwavering. No matter what her parents said, she was going to keep the appointment tonight.

If she doesn’t clarify things tonight, she’ll have to find another time to talk with him in the future.

Rather than dragging it out, it’s better to clear the air sooner. It’s better for everyone that way.

"Uncle! Aunt! Please let Alice go, I trust her." Thomas Fisher, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke up.
