Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 341: Ch 340: Easy Solution - Part 1
The sun had started to rise, and the shops that were closed minutes ago were starting to open. This was a scene Kael was used to seeing since he had been born in this world, and the street lights did not bother him.
But it was a new sight for Seraphina, and she looked fascinated by everything she saw around them.
"Is this world living up to your fantasies of another world?"
Kael asked Seraphina, who flinched and pouted at his question.
"I do not have fantasies of another world. There is no need for you to tease me like this."
She assured him, and Kael let out another laugh.
He had known her for years now, so he was also aware of her love for books. And the kind of books she preferred the most were fantasies about another world.
Of course, hers were more... romantic type than Kael liked, but he knew she enjoyed these stories a lot.
And Seraphina knew as well that her hobby had been discovered. But she still pretended she had no idea what Kael wanted to tell her.
"Well, are you sure you don’t find this world fascinating? I recall one of those stories that you liked—"
"Alright, fine. But this world is really different from the one I imagined. I initially thought that a world without magic would be a barbaric one that does not have much to offer. But it feels different..."
"It feels more advanced than our own, right? I had the same feeling when I first came here. And I also wondered how a world without magic could feel more advanced in nature."
Kael agreed with Seraphina, and that put her mind at rest. She did not know how to express her feelings and thoughts, but she had a lot of them.
However, Kael had gone through the same situation as her, so he knew what she wanted to say without her actually saying it.
"Initially, I wanted to replicate some of this technology in our own world to advance it as well, but then I realised that no one would have any idea how these principles worked, and I am not good enough of a teacher to teach it. And perhaps, that’s the difference between our worlds."
Here, anyone could study anything and gain knowledge, but that was not the case back in their original world. You had to be born with a specific talent to pursue it.
And the common people, who should be interested in technology, decided that they would rather not bother with it when survival was a more pressing matter.
"Well, that’s just the fundamental difference between the two worlds, so what can we do about it? Let’s just buy the vegetables we are here to buy and get going. Also, who knows what will happen in our world from here on? Maybe someone will finally take the initiative and build technology to advance the common people’s lives."
Just because the corruption had been defeated did not mean that their world was safe. Both big and small problems would keep arising as time passed, and normal people would keep living as oppressed as they ever had.
It was unfortunate, but that was the kind of life that was destined for the people of their former world.
"Ah, we are here. Let’s buy what we need from here and get back home. I am hungry, and I want to eat something nice."
Kael pointed out, but the second he asked for the price of things, he realised it was too late.
That way, Seraphina saw a real haggle for the first time in her life. And she had no idea whether she should be terrified or amazed at the way Kael handled things.
After a lot of shouting and pushing and pulling, they finally ended up bringing home cheaply acquired food that she cooked.
It almost felt like they were all back in Kael’s home, living a normal life. The lack of magic was not even a problem anymore due to the new mana-dense air, and a spell made the air feel fresh and cosy.
’Ah, this feels so nice. It’s almost as if I can stay here forever and not worry about a thing—’
But all good things need to come to an end, and their free time was no exception.
The one who disturbed them was none other than Officer Tyson. He looked drained, and his eyes looked at Kael before he grabbed the mage.
"We need help and a lot of it. The masses are out of control, and factionalism has started to appear everywhere. We can no longer handle it with our current strength."
Well, that was bound to happen sooner or later. There was only so much the government and the agencies could do before people started to push their luck.
"Alright, it seems like it is time for us to step in. Leon, would you and Iris like to go ahead and establish public order?"
"Hey, this isn’t a joke. How can two people do anything—"
"With magic. Don’t worry. Leon knows what he’s doing. Right?"
Kael looked at Leon, who seemed a little annoyed that he had to help, but he ultimately nodded.
"I can get the situation under control for now. But don’t expect me to keep doing this again."
It was easy to see that Leon was only willing to help because Kael had asked him to. But Officer Tyson was willing to take anything at this point. He was just too tired to care.
"Alright, fine. Just help us establish order first. But darn! The government is not going to last at this rate. We are all in deep waters here."
He complained, and it was a valid fact. The public did not trust the government.
It almost felt like a novel where the incompetent government was taken over by a guild and caused an uprising.
"..."
"You had the same idea as me, right? Kael, can you—"
"It seems like too much work."
"Don’t worry. We will do the work. You just focus on setting it up."
