Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 338: Ch 337: New Actions
With Officer Tyson at the helm, the government launched their last large-scale magic. Of course, the governments of other worlds were informed of this as well.
Across the world, people who had only just awakened to their powers suddenly found themselves staring at a bright white light spreading across the sky.
The light was so intense that it covered everything for several seconds, leaving entire cities bathed in an unnatural glow before it slowly faded away.
At first, no one understood what was happening, but the moment they tried to use their powers again, they realised something had changed.
The flames that had been dancing around one man’s hands disappeared without a trace, while another person who had been able to lift a car with ease suddenly struggled to move it even an inch.
Those who had received weapons from the system watched as their weapons vanished, leaving them completely powerless.
Then, the blue screens appeared once again.
[System connection temporarily unavailable.]
[World-wide stabilisation protocol activated.]
[Awakened abilities have been temporarily restricted.]
Panic immediately spread among the awakened.
Some people desperately tried to reconnect to the system, repeatedly reaching toward the floating screens as though they could force the connection to return.
After all, normal people had had their first taste of power, and they did not want to lose it.
The government did not waste this opportunity.
Within hours, emergency broadcasts began appearing across television networks, phones, and public screens, informing everyone that the situation was under control and ordering the newly awakened individuals to remain where they were until further instructions could be provided.
Military forces were deployed around the larger dungeons, while police officers began securing the areas where monsters had appeared. Emergency shelters were established, medical teams were sent to the injured, and special departments were created to identify and register those who had awakened.
For the first time since the dungeons appeared, humanity managed to regain some semblance of order.
But not everyone was willing to accept the government’s authority.
There were awakened individuals who had already experienced the feeling of power and had no intention of giving it up simply because someone told them to wait. Some claimed that the government had no right to control them, while others accused the authorities of using the temporary loss of their abilities as an excuse to establish control over the awakened.
Groups began forming almost immediately after this happened to resist the government.
Some wanted to cooperate with the government, while others demanded freedom and insisted that the awakened should be allowed to make their own decisions. However, the government was not going to lose its power either.
The temporary peace created by the spell began to crack.
And at the same time, a large-scale dungeon opened.
The people who were eager to defy the government began to openly mock them while heading to the dungeon. But they soon realised how useless their confidence was.
Because no matter how much power they had gotten from the system, they were still not used to it and could not protect themselves. A few of them died before panic began to spread.
However, for Kael, this was an opportunity to see what had happened to this world. He decided to head inside the dungeon with Leon.
Of course, the people he was with had a problem with this. Lyra was especially vocal in her protest against allowing Kael to leave.
But there was only so much she could do to hold him back. He forbade her from coming with him, and when she protested, she was bound against the wall by his magic.
"You freak! I am not someone you can bind like this. I will break free and follow you—"
"Iris, Seraphina, I will leave her to you."
Kael handed her over to the other two people, which made her pout. She looked at the two who were tasked with keeping watch on her, but instead of helping her, they immediately turned their heads away from her.
"Hey, what are you doing? Are you not going to help me... hey!"
She called out, but both Seraphina and Iris pretended they could not hear or see her. They even diverted their gazes away from her. And that was when Lyra knew she had been betrayed.
...
"Leon, I will depend on you to clear this dungeon. Meanwhile, I will look for what happened here. Can you take care of the core?"
Kael asked, and Leon nodded.
"Do you want me to destroy it? Or bring it back?"
The ex-hero asked, and Kael paused before answering.
"I would prefer it if you brought it back, but if you cannot, then destroy it. It will be a problem if someone else starts experimenting with it since we don’t know what it is exactly."
Leon nodded before he quickly took off. Kael watched him leave with a sigh before he went back to his work. He closed his eyes and allowed the magic of this dungeon to flow into his body.
It itched a little, but he kept himself under control. And beneath the waves of this world, he could feel the barely present pulse trying to reach back to him.
It was not a pleasant feeling, but Leon still tugged at it hard to pull the root out. And after a while, he finally got hold of a pulse from where mana was flowing into this world.
[Connection established with the root. Information will start flowing into the system.]
[Information amount 1%... Information is overflowing. User’s body cannot keep up. Terminating process...]
The power flow was suddenly cut off, and Kael felt his hands shaking. This was a sign that he was pushing his body a little too much. But he could not stop now. He was on the verge of finding out the truth about this world.
But his body had not been able to handle it.
"Darn it. It looks like I will have to get more cores and reinforce this body. As for the side effects... I will deal with them later."
