Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 306: Ch 305: Flower that Absorbs Mana
The plan felt solid until Kael started gathering materials for it. And then, problems started to arise one after another, starting with the very batch of flowers he was able to modify.
Since this world did not have the same species of flowers, he had to start from scratch...which was another mess. He decided to work with species of roses and violets, only to find out that they did not work as he intended.
It caused him to start looking for another species, only to run into the same problem.
Sigh
"What a messy situation this is turning out to be. I wish I had my inventory magic with me. That made these situations so much more convenient..."
Kael suddenly felt like he was hit with a bolt of lightning.
"Right...inventory magic...Was I truly under so much stress that I did not even recall it until now? What the hell was I doing until now?"
He questioned, rubbing his forehead.
But since he finally recalled that he had inventory magic, he also had access to his research and other materials.
He could also get hold of the magic-absorbing flowers and make them bloom. He also had magical amplifiers that would boost his magic and make it even more potent.
Of course, this all depended on whether he was able to muster enough magic to open his inventory.
Kael tried to reach for the deep dimension where he kept his things, but what felt like a small shelf with exactly what he needed now felt like a huge dimension where he struggled to even reach.
"This is bullshit! I put this stuff in here, so I should be able to get it out as well. Why is it such a hassle to find things here?"
He questioned, trying his best to catch anything in his hand. But he only felt his hands brushing against something before he was pulled back.
Kael kept pressing himself against that dimension until his whole arm disappeared in there. But he still could not grab hold of what he needed.
"Mother, are you trying to find something? Want me to help?"
Elena suddenly appeared behind Kael, giving him a small heart attack. He clutched his chest before looking at her with a startled expression. But once he noticed it was Elena, he calmed down.
"Oh, it’s you...I don’t think I need help for now. But if I do, I will tell you."
His inventory was private, and Kael would rather not have anyone else rampage through it...even if that someone was Elena.
"I see. I guess I better leave you to it. Although..."
Elena did not even finish speaking when Kael felt himself being tugged toward the inventory. The stronger forces inside his inventory were trying to pull him in. He also felt something rough against his hand that definitely felt alive.
’Shit! I forgot I used it as a second living space sample bag.’
The rough monster skin against his hand made Kael quickly pull back, only to have the monster try and follow through.
But thanks to Elena’s quick action, the monster retreated back in time.
This time, Kael managed to grab the seeds that he needed and pull them out.
Kael stared at the seeds in his palm for a few seconds before carefully placing them on the nearby table. He then turned toward the inventory dimension, making sure that nothing else was trying to crawl out before finally closing it.
"Alright. That should be enough."
"You nearly got eaten. What did you put in there?"
Elena pointed out casually, causing Kael to look at her with an annoyed expression.
"I was not nearly eaten. I was just surprised. And I only put whatever I needed in there."
"You put monsters in there? Since when were they essential for you?"
"It was a minor inconvenience, and I needed fresh ingredients. I promise it made sense at the moment."
Kael tried to brush off her words, but Elena only smiled at him.
"I see. If that is what you want to call it, then I suppose I will not argue. After all, it is not every day that I get to save you like this."
Kael decided not to respond and instead focused on the seeds in front of him. He carefully examined each one before separating them into different groups.
"These should work better. If I remember correctly, their absorption properties are much stronger than the flowers I was experimenting with earlier."
He began preparing the soil while Elena watched him from the side, clearly interested in what he was doing.
"Kael, do you have any idea how to grow them?"
"I should be able to. I would need to modify them to suit this environment."
Kael answered without looking up.
"More specifically, I am trying to create a flower that can absorb corruption and convert it into harmless magical energy. If I can make enough of them bloom around an infected area, they should be able to slow down the corruption’s spread."
"That sounds difficult."
"It should not be...in theory. But we all know magic tends to do whatever it wants. Besides, as long as it’s not impossible, I should be able to get some results."
And that became the start of Kael’s sleepless nights. One turned into two and then four until a week passed.
Kael slept when he had the time to and ate when he got his hands on food. Otherwise, it was a quiet affair since both Elena and Leon had been put to use.
And after a whole week, Kael’s first flower bloomed. Now, it was only a matter of testing it, and Leon chose to volunteer himself as the sacrifice.
Leon stood in front of the flower with a surprisingly calm expression, despite knowing that there was a chance something could go wrong.
"You are certain this is safe?"
Kael glanced at Tyson, who asked this question before nodding.
"Not entirely. That is why we are testing it on you first."
Leon’s expression immediately turned bitter.
"Somehow, that does not make me feel better."
