The flowers shone around Leon, and the ex-hero started to suck their mana out in order to create a shield.

It blocked all the bullets, which meant that the first experiment was a success. So they moved on to the second one.

In this one, Leon blocked the attacks of a few artifacts easily, which meant that even that was a success.

And then it came time for the third and most important test.

For this one, Kael and Elena had created a special field using their magic so that the corruption would not be able to notice what they were doing.

Once the field was set up, Tyson let go of the sample of corruption he had been able to capture using an artifact. It rushed toward Leon, but the ex-hero gripped his sword tightly and cut through it easily.

With this, all three tests had been passed. But Leon was still frowning.

"Is something wrong?"

Kael asked Leon, quickly heading toward him to check what the results were.

Leon shook his head to show that nothing was wrong. But he also bit his lower lip, which indicated that something was wrong at the same time.

"The flowers were fine. But it took a lot of concentration to draw their power out. This world makes it too inconvenient to use mana. You should try a big spell yourself to check."

That was a good option.

Now that Kael knew that these flowers worked, he wanted to try using them to check their limits as well.

He started with the holy barrier, the most basic and useful spell that they would need, and instantly realized what Leon meant.

The flowers had a lot of mana, but extracting this mana required a lot of concentration.

The burden could be somewhat alleviated by opening a gate, but doing that would also give an advantage to the corruption.

In the end, they had no choice but to use these flowers the way they were intended.

"So, what do you think?"

Leon asked, and Kael sighed.

"I see what you mean when you say that these flowers are a problem. But I am sure I will be able to handle them when the time comes. I will create an advantageous field around us."

Kael promised Leon, who sighed and nodded.

"I see. That is one problem to take care of."

Leon looked relieved, and Kael started calculating the next part of their plan.

"Next, we need to look for a place we can bait the corruption out to. We will need a city because we will need a large surface area to put these flowers in. Moreover, plants and other life forms in a forest will interfere with the magic in these flowers."

This was another problem. After all, it was not like there were abandoned cities in the world...

"We have a few places we can try. Are there any requirements for how the city should look or feel?"

Tyson asked, and Kael shook his head.

"The more surface area we have, the better. Other than that, I don’t have any requirements. But it is going to take us a few months to get things ready."

Unfortunately, that was not a problem they could resolve on their own.

Tyson looked at Kael for a few seconds before letting out a long sigh and rubbing his forehead.

"I will try my best. Getting permission for something like this is not going to be easy, especially when we are talking about an entire city. But if this is really the only way to deal with the corruption, then I will see what I can do."

Kael nodded, feeling slightly relieved.

"Thank you. That should be enough for now."

With that, Tyson left the greenhouse, leaving Kael, Leon, and Elena to continue their preparations. Since they could not do much about securing a suitable location without the necessary permission, they decided to focus on what they could control.

For the next week, the three of them spent most of their time growing the flowers.

Kael handled the magical aspects of their growth, while Elena carefully observed their development and made sure that nothing went wrong. Leon, meanwhile, focused on testing how much mana he could draw from them without losing too much concentration.

It was repetitive work, but none of them complained.

They needed as many flowers as possible.

A single mistake during the final battle could mean the difference between defeating the corruption and allowing it to spread even further.

By the end of the week, the greenhouse had begun to look completely different. Flowers covered almost every available space, glowing faintly with the mana they had absorbed.

Kael was examining another batch when the greenhouse door suddenly opened.

Tyson walked inside.

He looked exhausted, but there was a satisfied smile on his face.

"I got it."

Kael immediately turned toward him.

"You managed to get permission?"

"Not just permission. I managed to get the entire relocation plan approved. We have a lot of space to use now."

Tyson placed a thick stack of documents on the nearby table.

"We have been given access to one of the abandoned cities, and the authorities are willing to move the homeless people and other living things out of the area temporarily. The moment you are ready, we can begin."

Kael stared at the documents before slowly smiling.

"Then I guess it is time to put our plan into motion."

Within the next few days, a large-scale operation was prepared, with hundreds of workers and specialized vehicles being sent toward the abandoned city to clear the area for their flowers.

The pots were moved not only in the parks, but also in the buildings and rooftops to cover as much area as possible.

To hide it from the corruption, Kael casted a giant spell around the place, sealing it inside until it was of use to him. Now, it was time to hide this place for months to come. And once the flowers bloomed, it would be time for the corruption to finally come to an end.
