Polluted Zone Live: The Useless Guide Stole the Show!

Chapter 41: Miss Bunny Found a New Gun

  • Next Chapter

Summer still wasn’t sure if this was just her old program pushing her to save people, or if it was something she truly wanted to do.

Maybe it was both.

Either way, she didn’t think it mattered that much right now.

As long as she wasn’t throwing her own life away just to save someone else, then she could live with it.

A moment later, Summer had already taken off again while the comment section was still busy arguing over how much of her performance came from the gear and how much came from her own skill.

At this point, she barely even had time to breathe because there was no chance to stop.

More polluted creatures were crawling out from below, and this time, it wasn’t only earthworms.

A giant centipede slowly climbed up the side of the crack, its black shell covered in glowing purple veins.

[Warning! Warning!]

[Mutated Centipede Detected!]

[Distance: 701 meters]

[Threat Level: B-Rank]

[Pollution Concentration Continues to Rise.]

[Mutation Speed Increasing.]

[Warning: Nearby Polluted Creatures May Experience Rank Evolution.]

Then another warning appeared.

[Warning! Warning!]

[Mutated Cave Spider Detected!]

[Distance: 221 meters]

[Threat Level: B-Rank]

Summer’s face immediately twisted in disgust when she spotted the giant spider not far from her.

"Fuck! Why did it have to be a spider?!" she complained.

Out of all the creatures that could have crawled out of that crack, of course it had to be the one she hated looking at the most.

She quickly turned toward Ilya. Far from her, he was still fighting on the other side of the battlefield.

Summer narrowed her eyes. Earlier, Ilya had clearly said he wasn’t allowed to help her during the evaluation, but he had also said she could use any weapon available to her.

Any weapon.

Summer slowly looked at Ilya again and a small smile appeared on her face.

Well... nobody said the weapon had to be an object.

[Why is she smiling like that?]

[She looks kinda creepy tho.]

[Creepy? That’s an edit material there!]

The giant spider suddenly let out a sharp screech behind her. Without thinking any further, Summer immediately turned and started running, not away from Ilya but straight toward him.

"Summer?" Ilya noticed her coming and frowned.

"Don’t mind me!" Summer shouted with a smile on her face.

After that, Summer ignored him completely. The spider was right behind her, its eight long legs stabbing into the broken ground as it chased her.

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap!

The sound alone made Summer want to run faster.

"Damn it, I hate spiders!" She jumped over a pile of rubble and continued straight toward Ilya.

At the same time, Ilya was fighting two mutated earthworms. One of them even rushed at him from the front.

Ilya raised his arm, and his metal arm seemed to charge with golden energy.

Summer’s eyes immediately lit up when she saw that. After that, she changed direction at the last second.

At the last second, she suddenly changed direction.

"Move a bit!" she shouted.

Ilya looked at her in disbelief. "You’re the one running toward me!"

Summer activated Burst Step.

[Burst Step Activated.]

Her body shot forward in an instant, and the giant spider kept chasing her without slowing down.

As the earthworm lunged at Ilya, he swung his arm, and a sharp wave of golden energy flew across the battlefield.

Summer immediately dropped to the ground and slid beneath it.

Unfortunately, the spider behind her wasn’t so lucky.

Slash!

The golden attack cut straight across two of its front legs.

SCREEECH!

The spider crashed onto the ground. Summer rolled once before quickly getting back onto her feet.

Ilya slowly turned toward her, looking completely stunned. "Did you just use me?"

Summer smiled without looking guilty at all. "You said I could use any weapon."

For a moment, Ilya had no idea what to say.

In all his years of training people, this was the first time a trainee had ever treated him like part of the equipment.

"I am not a weapon," he finally said.

Summer simply shrugged. "You looked pretty weapon-like just now."

[HAHAHAHAHAHA.]

[She used Captain Noctis as equipment!]

[NEW ITEM UNLOCKED: S-RANK ILYA NOCTIS.]

[Special Effect: Extremely expensive. Also kinda grumpy now—oh, wait, he’s not even angry!]

[He looks kind of proud!]

[Hell yeah, Summer! You just unlocked your potential Sugar Daddy #3!]

[Can you stop pushing all the sugar daddies toward her? I want one too!]

[Then be Summer! Summer is a state of mind. Tomorrow, I will be Summer!]

[These people are nuts. I’m quitting the moderator team!]

On the other hand, Summer saw the giant spider trying to push itself back up with the legs it still had left.

But before it could fully stand, Summer reached out and grabbed Ilya’s metal arm.

Ilya looked down at her hand, then at her face. "What are you doing now?"

Summer ignored him and quickly studied the metal surface.

Her fingers moved along the side of his forearm until she suddenly felt a small raised piece near his wrist.

Click.

The moment a thin panel slid open, Summer’s eyes lit up. She muttered, "Oh, you have this too..."

Inside were several small buttons and a narrow slot that looked suspiciously like a firing chamber.

Ilya let out a soft sigh when Summer used his metal arm as a firing device, and it certainly worked even better than her rifle because she didn’t have to deal with the recoil at all.

[You killed ×1 B-Rank Mutated Creature: 12,000 Credits]

[Ilya, man up! You just got bullied by a bunny!]

[Captain Noctis, blink twice if you need help.]

[I don’t think he needs help. He looks like he’s exactly where he wants to be. He isn’t even trying to move his arm at all!]

And honestly, they weren’t wrong.

Ilya actually seemed amused by what Summer was doing. He didn’t even complain when she grabbed his arm again and aimed it toward the earthworms wriggling in their direction.

"Do you ever run out of ammo?" Summer asked casually.

Ilya answered just as casually, "I can use my blood to make my own bullets."
