Polluted Zone Live: The Useless Guide Stole the Show!
Chapter 42: Thanks for the Spear!
Summer widened her eyes in admiration. After shooting down a few more earthworms nearby, she looked back at Ilya. "Seriously? You can make more than just bullets?"
"Pretty much anything," Ilya said. "As long as it’s metal."
Summer thought about it for a moment, then asked, "What about a spear? Can you make one? I kinda want to see you do it."
Ilya tilted his head slightly, and a small smile appearing on his face. "A spear? That’s easy."
Ilya raised his metal arm, and then a thin line of blood appeared across his palm, but instead of dripping down, it floated above his hand.
Summer watched closely as the blood slowly changed color, turning from dark red into shining silver.
The metal stretched longer and longer. First, the shaft took shape and then the sharp spearhead formed at the end.
In just a few seconds, a full spear rested in Ilya’s hand.
Summer stared at it with wide eyes, then clapped a few times. "That’s actually so cool."
Ilya gave her a small smile. "It’s not that hard."
Summer immediately reached out and took the spear from him. Surprisingly, it was lighter than she expected.
She turned it in her hands once, then ran her fingers over the smooth metal surface.
"Nice balance too," she muttered to herself.
Summer gave the spear a small spin. Before Ilya could say anything else, Summer suddenly turned around and started running.
"Thanks for the spear!" she called out, waving at Ilya without showing any remorse at all.
[She really said thanks and LEFT.]
[Captain Noctis just got used as a weapon factory.]
[First his arm, now his blood. What’s next?!]
[Well, how about *censored* *censored*]
[Lmaoo, sister, control yourself!]
Ilya, on the other hand, only chuckled in response. Honestly, he had already guessed from the beginning that Summer was just looking for an excuse to get a new weapon from him.
But technically, he hadn’t broken any rules.
He had only made the spear because Summer said she wanted to see him do it and there was nothing in the evaluation rules saying she wasn’t allowed to take it afterward.
Instead of getting annoyed, Ilya actually found the whole thing impressive.
This was the first time he had ever trained someone this shameless and somehow, it was also the most fun he’d had with a trainee in a long time.
While Summer ran off with the spear, Ilya turned his attention back to the people around him.
"Everyone who can still move, head toward the collapsed building on the east side!" he shouted. "Stay away from the crack and don’t split up!"
A few Sentinels immediately started helping the injured Guides move toward the safer area.
Ilya stayed behind them, cutting down any polluted creature that got too close.
On the other side, Summer finally caught up with Saddie.
Saddie glanced at the spear in her hand. "Where did you get that?"
Summer pointed behind her with her thumb. "Captain."
Saddie stared at her. "He just gave you a spear?"
Summer shrugged. "Something like that."
Saddie’s mouth dropped open. "No way! He never gives weapons to people he just met! I had to wait five whole years!"
"Saddie. Saddie. Focus," Summer reminded her. "It’s just a makeshift weapon. It’s not that serious."
Turns out, it actually was.
The spear fit Summer so well that it almost looked like part of her own body.
Unfortunately, even though Summer still remembered exactly how to use a spear, her current body just wasn’t strong enough.
That was why she usually had to jump first before driving the spear down into a mutated creature’s head.
Even so, she was still able to kill at least two B-Rank mutated creatures and three D-Rank ones.
After killing the last one, she pulled the spear out of a centipede’s skull, then gave it a quick spin to shake off the blood.
[Warning! Warning!]
[Mutated Mole Detected!]
[Distance: 122 meters]
[Threat Level: A-Rank]
A few seconds after the warning appeared, the ground nearby suddenly started shaking.
With a loud crash, a giant mutated mole burst out of the dirt not far from Summer.
The mole let out a deep growl and charged toward them. Summer tightened her grip on the spear. "Saddie, left!"
"Got it!" Saddie quickly moved to the side and fired several shots toward the mole’s face.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bullets hit, but most of them only bounced off its thick skin.
Summer clicked her tongue. Of course.
She waited until the mole got closer, then rushed forward as well.
At the last second, she jumped. Using the height to add more force, Summer raised the spear over her head and drove it straight down toward the mole’s skull.
Clang!
Her hands shook from the impact, and the spearhead barely went in.
Summer’s eyes widened. "What the hell is this thing made of?!"
The mole shook its head violently, almost throwing her off. Summer quickly tightened her grip on the spear, making sure it didn’t come loose.
A second later, Saddie shouted from behind her, "Move!"
Summer didn’t know what Saddie wanted to do, but she still let go of the spear and jumped away.
Right after that, Saddie came running in. She planted one foot on a broken piece of concrete, jumped high into the air, then twisted her body.
Bang!
She kicked the end of the spear with all the strength in her legs. The spear suddenly sank deeper into the mole’s skull, making the creature scream.
Saddie grabbed the shaft, spun around it, and climbed onto the mole’s body. While trying to keep her balance, she pulled the spear backward, forcing the mole to lift its head.
"Fire at its neck!" Saddie shouted.
Summer didn’t even need to think twice before lifting her rifle and firing.
BANG!
The mole struggled for a moment, but slowly lost its strength until it stopped moving completely.
After making sure the mole was really dead, Saddie jumped down from its body. She took several deep breaths, but before she could even catch her breath, another scream from the other mutated creatures echoed around them.
"Damn it, there’s no end to them!" Then Saddie shrugged it off. "Well, that means more Credits for me!"
