Pokémon: My Online Friend Is Cynthia
Chapter 257: An Invitation From New Island
Chapter 257: Chapter 257: An Invitation From New Island
As they watched, Cynthia suddenly asked, "Do you think this actress called Diantha is pretty?"
But Cynthia did not hear Julian answer.
She turned her head and saw that Julian had actually fallen asleep against the sofa.
This film...
It was pretty good, right?
Was it really boring enough to make Julian fall asleep?
Cynthia pushed Julian gently.
"If you’re this tired, go back and sleep. We can watch the film another time."
Julian rubbed his face.
"Sorry. I received twenty challengers today, so I’m a bit tired."
Cynthia’s eyes widened.
"How many?"
Julian nodded.
"You heard right. Twenty. It’s fine. Not that tiring."
The corner of Cynthia’s mouth twitched.
"Some Gym Leaders receive two challengers a day and still dare to say they’ve worked hard."
"You received twenty in one day and still say you’re not that tired. You really are ridiculous."
Julian picked up a grape and popped it into his mouth.
"I’m fine. Let’s keep watching."
Cynthia forcibly pulled Julian up.
"No. You’re going back to sleep! I’ll ask Caitlin to watch the film with me."
Julian could only obediently listen to Cynthia and go back to sleep.
Cynthia arrived at Caitlin’s door and knocked.
"Miss Caitlin, the cutest girl in the world, may I come in?"
"Come in."
Cynthia entered and discovered that Caitlin was sitting in front of a computer, seriously looking through information on Psychic-type Pokémon.
"You’re choosing your first Pokémon?"
Caitlin nodded.
"Do you have any recommendations?"
Cynthia touched her chin.
"I’m not very good at this side of things. You can ask Mr Darach, or Julian."
Caitlin thought for a moment.
"Then I’ll ask both of them, combine their suggestions, and choose one as my starter Pokémon."
Cynthia nodded.
"Do you personally have a Psychic Pokémon you especially like?"
Caitlin found a picture of Gothita and smiled.
"This little one looks adorable. I quite like her."
Cynthia was a little surprised.
"I thought you’d like Gardevoir."
Caitlin waved her hand.
"Gardevoir is far too common. There’s no individuality at all. I’d rather be like Julian and train a Gallade."
Cynthia did not know what to say.
"Forget it. Come watch the film with me first."
...
After waking up, Cynthia came to the dining room and smelled a familiar fragrance.
Someone brought her a serving of breakfast. Cynthia turned her head.
"Julian, why are you the one making breakfast again?"
He smiled.
"I slept too early last night. After waking up, I wandered around the airship for a bit and happened to meet Mr Darach."
"So I had him take me to the kitchen, and I made some breakfast myself."
"Where’s Caitlin? Isn’t she coming to eat breakfast?"
Cynthia took a bite of fried egg.
"Because of her Psychic ability and her temper when she wakes up, no one rushes Caitlin to get out of bed for breakfast. Everyone just waits until she wakes naturally."
Julian shrugged.
"Fair enough."
Julian also sat down to eat breakfast. Darach walked over and said, "Young Master Julian, we’ve already arrived at Old Coast Pier. After breakfast, you may go down to bring your sister aboard."
"However, we cannot return immediately. We need to visit Saffron City and ask a friend of mine to lend us an unowned Alakazam to assist Lady Caitlin in training."
Julian nodded.
"No problem."
After Cynthia and Julian drove the flying car down to Old Coast Pier, Caitlin finally arrived late for breakfast.
"Mm. Darach, has your cooking improved?"
Darach smiled and said, "Young Master Julian made breakfast."
Caitlin looked around.
"Where are those two? Did they go on a date?"
"We have already arrived at Old Coast Pier. They went down."
Caitlin sped up her eating.
"Prepare the flying car. I want to go down and take a look too."
...
Maylene had not expected her brother to descend from the sky in a flying car together with Cynthia.
During the time she had left Veilstone Gym to travel through Kanto...
What exactly had happened at home?
Not only the flying car, but the huge flying fortress in the sky also left the group staring wide-eyed. Ash asked in surprise, "Maylene, is your family this rich?"
Maylene spread her hands.
"If my family were really this rich, would I need to worry about food expenses?"
Paul coldly stabbed the point home.
"Who told you to not only eat a lot yourself, but also overestimate yourself and catch a Snorlax?"
Maylene clutched her head with both hands.
"Stop. My head hurts."
Paul was the one cooking, yet she was the one complaining.
Misty looked at Julian as he stepped out of the flying car, and her expression immediately turned lovestruck.
"So handsome!"
Ash curled his lip.
"What’s the use of being handsome? A real Trainer still has to prove themselves through battling."
Maylene blinked.
When she left home, had her brother been this handsome?
Brock also saw the stunning blonde beauty beside Julian.
Brock was just about to step forward and perform his usual confession routine when Cynthia’s gaze swept over him. Brock instantly felt a chill run through him.
Misty was a little surprised.
Brock had actually not gone up to confess.
Was this still the Brock she knew?
It made Misty unconsciously rub her right hand, wanting to pull Brock’s ear.
Paul glanced at Ash and smiled.
"Julian isn’t just handsome. He’s also very strong trainer."
Julian smiled and said, "Maylene, how have you been recently?"
She smiled.
"Pretty good."
Julian looked around.
"Aren’t you going to introduce your friends?"
Maylene hurriedly introduced them.
"This is Misty, provisional Gym Leader of Cerulean Gym in Cerulean City, also known as the tomboyish mermaid."
Misty smiled shyly and waved.
"Hello."
"This is Brock. His cooking is delicious. He’s the Gym Leader of Pewter City and a tough, dependable man! He likes older girls and gets rejected by one roughly once a day."
Brock immediately looked like all the life had been drained from him and collapsed to the ground.
"This is Ash. He likes battling. No matter how powerful the opponent is, Ash dares to charge up and fight them."
"Although he’ll lose, Ash’s brave spirit is worth learning from."
Ash stomped in frustration.
"What do you mean I’ll lose? I’m on a twenty-win streak, alright?"
Paul snorted disdainfully.
"Is beating those casual Trainers by the roadside something to be proud of?"
"As a professional Trainer, winning twenty casual battles is less useful than spending an afternoon properly training your Pokémon."
Ash gritted his teeth.
"You!"
Julian spoke to smooth things over.
"Battling and training are both important. A Trainer needs to focus on both."
Ash nodded in agreement.
"Julian’s right. Can you have a battle with me?"
Julian smiled and nodded.
"No problem. Let’s make it one-on-one. We’ll battle on the open ground over there."
Ash sent out his Pokémon first.
"Pikachu, I’m counting on you!"
Julian thought for a moment and felt this Pokémon was the most suitable.
"Go, Electabuzz!"
Electabuzz appeared, and his powerful presence made Pikachu’s gaze turn serious.
Just as Brock was about to announce the start of the match, a Dragonite carrying a postal satchel flew over from the direction of the sea at incredible speed and stopped beside Julian.
It took out an invitation and handed it to Julian.
