Chapter 801:A Tailsman?
Chapter 801: 801:A Tailsman?
Lancelot and Rathlos were about to move forward and attack when they suddenly paused. Their eyes turned toward Dorian, who had taken out a strange piece of parchment from his robe. The parchment looked old, and strange symbols were drawn across its surface. They didn’t look like any normal magical symbols, and for some reason, just looking at them gave both of them a strange feeling of deja vu.
Lancelot’s expression immediately became serious. His body instinctively tensed, and his hand tightened around his weapon. After countless years of fighting, his battle-hardened senses had saved his life more times than he could count. Right now, every one of those senses was screaming at him to stay away from that parchment.
Rathlos also stopped moving and stared at the strange parchment. He couldn’t explain the feeling, but something about it felt familiar, almost as if he had seen those symbols somewhere long ago. He couldn’t remember where, but the strange sense of familiarity only made him more cautious.
Garron frowned when he saw the two of them suddenly stop.
"Why are you stopping?"
He looked toward the two of them and then glanced at Dorian before his expression hardened.
"It’s an opportunity to breakthrough!"
Without waiting for their response, Garron rushed ahead. His figure shot forward at tremendous speed as he raised his weapon and prepared to strike Dorian down before he could use whatever was written on the parchment.
Garron had hardly moved forward when Dorian tore the paper.
The moment the parchment was torn apart, a bright flash of light exploded from it and illuminated the entire battlefield. The sudden light was so intense that everyone instinctively narrowed their eyes.
Then, from within that light, a huge sword attack suddenly shot forward.
The attack was condensed to an unbelievable degree. There was no wild energy spreading around it, and there was no wasted power. Everything was concentrated into that single sword attack, which tore through the space in front of it.
Garron’s pupils shrank.
A chill ran through his entire body.
He had barely enough time to react when a strange force suddenly pulled his body backward.
It was Rathlos.
Rathlos had already moved the moment the sword attack appeared. He grabbed Garron and pulled him away while rapidly retreating from the incoming attack.
"Run!"
Rathlos’s voice was unusually serious.
The other Transcendent Knights accompanying them also reacted quickly and tried to escape. Some managed to move away in time, but others weren’t lucky enough.
The sword attack passed through them.
There was no struggle.
Their bodies were instantly torn apart by the condensed sword force, and the attack continued forward without slowing down.
The next moment, a huge sight of devastation surged through the heavens and earth.
The sword attack tore through everything in its path. The ground beneath it split apart as an enormous line of destruction spread into the distance. Mountains were cleaved in half, forests were flattened, and huge chunks of earth were lifted into the air before being swept away by the force of the attack.
The land continued breaking apart as the sword force moved forward. Deep cracks spread across the ground like countless giant scars, while dust and broken stones were thrown high into the sky. Even the clouds above were sliced apart, leaving the sky divided by the enormous path carved by the attack.
The force continued for hundreds of kilometres before finally weakening.
For a moment, the entire battlefield fell silent.
The bright light slowly receded, and everyone finally saw the result.
A huge valley had been cleaved through the land, extending for several hundred kilometres. Everything that had once stood in the path of the sword attack had been destroyed. There was nothing left except broken earth, shattered mountains and a massive scar stretching across the horizon.
The entire allied force was horrified.
Countless people stared at the enormous valley with pale faces before slowly turning their eyes toward Dorian.
Even Dorian had a sombre expression on his face as he looked at the destruction caused by the parchment.
Cedric looked at him with a deep frown.
"Did you just waste a tailsman?"
"What do you mean waste? This is already difficult to deal with. Aiming while tearing it isn’t easy," Dorian retorted.
His expression remained serious as he looked at the destroyed land in the distance. Even he seemed to understand just how terrifying the attack had been.
Dorian immediately took out another strange parchment from his robe. His fingers tightened around it as he prepared to tear it apart, but before he could do so, something suddenly shot toward him with tremendous momentum.
Dorian didn’t dare to be negligent. His body moved on instinct, and he immediately dodged to the side. The object passed dangerously close to him and blasted across the ground, sending dust and broken stones flying in every direction.
For a moment, nobody understood what had just passed them. The figure continued rolling across the broken ground before finally slowing down. As the dust began to settle, Cedric, Valen and Dorian managed to get a clear glimpse of it.
Their eyes widened in horror.
"Thissss...."
It was none other than Garrick.
The once proud head of the Cravik family was now in a sorry state. His clothes were completely torn apart, and his body was covered in wounds from head to toe. Blood covered his face, while one of his arms hung weakly at his side. His hair was covered in dust, and his body was swollen from the brutal beating he had received.
There were bruises and deep cuts all over him, and several bones could clearly be seen out of place. His breathing was extremely weak, and his body barely moved as he lay among the broken stones.
It was hard to believe that this was the same Garrick who had been fighting Ethan moments ago.
"Garrick!" Cedric roared.
He immediately turned around, and his expression changed when he noticed something else.
The barrier was gone.
The enormous barrier that had surrounded the Capital had completely disappeared, and above the ruined city, Ethan slowly floated out from within the Capital.
His clothes were slightly damaged, but his expression remained calm as he looked down at them.
"ETHHHAAAAANNNNN!" Cedric roared in fury.
His voice echoed across the battlefield as he glared at Ethan with bloodshot eyes.
"Why are you hell bent on taking us down?"
He clenched his fists tightly before continuing.
"I don’t think I have offended you in any way."
"Offend? Hahaha!"
Ethan suddenly laughed.
A twisted, eerie and sinister smile appeared on his face as he looked at Cedric.
"You didn’t offend me but you pissed me with your work. Forcefully dragging people to slave and selling them away.."
His smile slowly faded as his eyes became cold.
