Pampered by My Secret Husband

Chapter 1395 - 1397: She Won’t Obediently Listen

He was talking about his mental state.

Sophie Sullivan’s marriage hit him hard; fainting at the wedding clearly showed he’d suffered a severe shock.

It wasn’t that anyone was afraid he’d do something stupid because of it, just that they were afraid he’d never get past this emotional knot.

William Guillen slowly sat up, leaned against the head of the bed, drooped his head, and gave a bitter little smile. "I’m not going to die..."

Not good, not bad—just like this.

Thomas Shannon raised his hand and patted his shoulder. "Have Auntie Guillen and Uncle Guillen run into any trouble lately?"

"Why are you asking that?" William Guillen’s eye color darkened with understanding. "Don’t tell me she’s about to make a move?"

These two days, Mr. Guillen and Mrs. Guillen had both come to see him, even Alexander Guillen had come, but William Guillen felt too ashamed to face them and drove them all away.

He hadn’t had a chance yet to ask them if anything had happened recently.

Thomas Shannon nodded lightly. "My mother’s accident—eight or nine times out of ten, it was her pulling strings in the dark. She might be getting ready to act."

"You’re worried she’ll come after us too?"

Thomas Shannon only smiled without answering. After a long time, he said in a low voice, "After so many years, it’s time to bring this to an end. As long as you’re all safe, I can be at ease. Got it?"

First it was Bay King, now it’s his mother; he’s very worried the next ones will be William Guillen and Sophie Sullivan.

Tricking Sophie Sullivan into coming was, on one hand, because he missed her; on the other, because he was worried about her safety.

With her by his side, Thomas Shannon could finally feel a bit of calm.

William Guillen raised his hand and wiped his face, pulling himself together. "Thomas, whatever happens, be extra careful."

"Mm."

The two of them chatted for a while, then Thomas Shannon got up and left the ward.

Leaving the ward, Thomas Shannon strode quickly out. Charlie River and the man in black came up to him. "Young Master, Young Madam went to see Miss Zane."

Thomas Shannon’s brows knit, a flash of displeasure rising in his eyes. "When did she go?"

"When you entered the ward, Young Madam headed out."

Thomas Shannon’s thin lips pressed tightly; so she’d had it all planned from early in the morning. He knew she wouldn’t just obediently listen.

...

Moores’ Villa.

After the wedding, Autumn Johnson moved into Harrison Moore’s home.

Mr. Moore and Mrs. Moore were actually quite easy to get along with. After all, they both knew exactly how this marriage had come about; since the wedding had been completed without a hitch, they didn’t have much to complain about.

If there was one thing they weren’t satisfied with, it was probably that their daughter-in-law was too cold—so cold it didn’t feel like they were a family.

More like she was looking at enemies.

On weekdays, Autumn Johnson spent most of her time in the bedroom. She was sitting on the balcony reading a book when a servant knocked and came in. "Young Madam, a Miss Sullivan who says she’s Sophie Sullivan has come to visit. Would you like to see her?"

"Sophie Sullivan?" Autumn Johnson instantly snapped the book shut in her hand and stood up. "Where is she?"

"Miss Sullivan is at the doorway, you..."

Before the servant could finish, Autumn Johnson tossed the book aside and quickly walked out.

Maybe she was walking too fast; going down the stairs, she bumped into Taylor Moore.

Her body was knocked off balance, falling backward, but Taylor Moore, quick-eyed, reached out his hand and caught her as she fell back. His strength was a bit too much, and he accidentally pulled her straight into his embrace.

Feeling the breath of an unfamiliar man, Autumn Johnson’s whole body went rigid. She lifted her head and saw Taylor Moore’s handsome face, then retreated a few steps with indifference. "Thank you, little brother-in-law."

"You’re welcome, sister-in-law." Taylor Moore smiled, not taking it to heart at all.

Autumn Johnson nodded to him, then quickly went down the stairs, passing by him.

Seeing Sophie Sullivan standing at the doorway, surrounded by men in black, Autumn Johnson threw her arms around her in excitement.
