Chapter 470: Soul Soldier In the Requiem Stronghold
Fwoosh!
Just like that, the Soul Soldier jumped from the God of Soul’s hand, its form descending toward the ground below.
But it didn’t immediately rush toward the ground, instead, it turned its gaze toward the group of servants of the gods, its eyes cold and calculating.
And then, without warning, it attacked, moving with terrifying speed.
BOOM!
It summoned its Soul Sword, and without hesitating swung it, killing around thirty of them from this single strike alone, their bodies disintegrating into particles that scattered into the wind.
"!!!"
The rest of the servants of the gods except the servants of soul were shocked and quickly backed away, their confidence shattered by the sudden display of power.
Even they hadn’t expected this thing to do that, their expressions filled with disbelief and fear.
[God Servants Remaining: 26.]
The Soul Soldier couldn’t fly even with its incredible physique, so after attacking, it was forced to follow the laws of gravity and fell down, its form plummeting toward the earth.
But unlike every other monster before, which appeared outside the stronghold and simply aimed to attack it, the Soul Soldier was different, its intelligence far greater than anything they had faced.
Indeed, he turned his gaze toward the players below, then turned it toward the Requiem Stronghold, as if weighing its options carefully.
And between the two, the choice was obvious, its gaze lingering on the stronghold with clear intent.
Fwoosh!
The Soul Soldier used his sword as leverage and boosted himself to the left, meaning that instead of dropping into the battlefield where the players were waiting...
"HE’S GOING INSIDE THE STRONGHOLD," Granite shouted, his eyes wide with panic, "HOLY SHIT!"
"Damn..." Cavin groaned once more as he rushed forward, "Alert everybody, this is bad."
Meanwhile, back with Leon’s group...
"This is our chance to escape," Violet spoke, her voice calm, "If you want to, that is."
But Leon simply gazed at the falling Soul Soldier with wide eyes, his attention fixed on the creature.
Because as it got closer, more parts of its panel were unlocked for him to see, the information revealing itself piece by piece.
And below the level was the talent, and it read:
[Talent: Soul Protection (S-Level)]
Leon knew at that moment he needed to do anything to acquire this thing, his heart racing with desire.
And at that moment...
BOOM!
There was a terrifying explosion in the middle of the Requiem Stronghold as the Soul Soldier landed in the middle of the Requiem Plaza, the very same place where the Requiem Guild had first announced the start of the Level 6 Monster Tide.
The Soul Soldier looked around for a split second, its eyes scanning the area, most of the players and natives around it running in terror.
And then, without any warning, it attacked.
SLASH!
It swung its sword, sending a crescent slash that tore through several buildings and killed hundreds of players and natives instantly, their bodies falling to the ground in heaps.
"H-HOLY SHIT!"
"Run...!"
Chaos erupted instantly, and the Soul Soldier had only appeared a few seconds ago, its presence alone enough to cause panic.
Of course, it didn’t stop, as it continued attacking over and over, killing hundreds, then thousands of people, as well as destroying buildings everywhere with each swing of its blade.
Some players and natives obviously tried to fight back, but they didn’t stand a chance against the overwhelming power of the creature.
"STAY BACK EVERYONE," a tall man from the half-giant race moved forward, his voice booming across the plaza, "I can block it for a few seconds, and even if I die, I still have a Resurrection Stone!"
The man had around 13 million combat power, which wasn’t a lot compared to the Soul Soldier, but still, even a few seconds could be enough to save many lives.
He rushed forward, swinging his fist at the Soul Soldier, who blocked it with a shield it summoned in hand, the impact sending shockwaves through the air.
"H-Haha!" the man trembled from being so close to the monster, "T-Too bad for you, you can’t kill me!"
The Soul Soldier tilted its head... then it laughed.
A rumbling laugh that echoed through the plaza, and in a fraction of a second, it pushed the man and swung its sword.
But unlike every other time, this time, it didn’t aim at the physical side of the players and natives.
Instead... it simply attacked his soul, bypassing all physical defenses.
SLASH!
There was no visible damage on the half-giant man’s body even though the swing connected, and yet, he still fell, his eyes going blank.
But his body didn’t turn into particles, it simply lay there, lifeless.
Because Resurrection Stones were only able to restore a physical body, the soul was something impossible to fix if broken beyond repair.
Noticing that the half-giant’s body didn’t turn into particles, most of the people around realized that something was wrong, their faces pale with fear.
But alas, the Soul Soldier didn’t care, as it simply continued his onslaught on the Requiem Stronghold.
BAM!
Dozens of magic rays were aimed at it, and spells flew from all directions, but the Soul Soldier could block and dodge all of them with ease, its movements fluid and precise.
And even those that hit it didn’t even do anything, their attacks bouncing off its armor harmlessly.
The stat difference was simply too high for any of the others’ attacks to matter, their efforts futile against such overwhelming power.
"W-Where are the Requiem Guild members, they’re the only ones who can fight this thing!"
"How did they even allow it to enter the stronghold!"
The Soul Soldier’s rampage continued for a few more minutes, and that was enough to annihilate almost everything in the Requiem Plaza, leaving nothing but rubble and flames in its wake.
Tens of thousands of players and natives died, with the others fleeing in terror, and every building in a near kilometer radius was either destroyed or in flames,.
The Soul Soldier seemed eager to continue to the next district, satisfied by the destruction it had caused.
But right as it was about to move, something stopped it.
SMASH!
The Requiem Guild had finally arrived, Cavin’s fist slamming directly into the Soul Soldier’s shield, the impact forcing the creature back several steps.
And unlike every other time, this time around, the Soul Soldier actually was forced back by the attack, its eyes glowing with a powerful light, recognizing a true threat.
