Chapter 471: Soul Soldier VS Requiem Guild [1]

  • Next Chapter

ROOOOOAR!

The Soul Soldier released another roar and readied itself to battle its opponents, its stance shifting to a more defensive posture.

All around it, all nineteen requiem guild members surrounded it, each of them ready to attack at once, their weapons drawn and their eyes fixed on the creature.

"Be careful," Cavin spoke, his voice steady, "Don’t act yet..."

Even though Cavin hated what was happening, there was still a faint smile on his face, because to him and Empress, this didn’t change what was about to happen, their plan still intact.

"We planned for an attack to defeat any opponent in this Monster Tide," Empress spoke, her voice calm and confident, "This thing doesn’t change it, we’ll kill it in one strike."

"What was it again?" Granite asked, his brow furrowed.

"It also has a soul," Cavin replied simply, "So... me and Empress will strike its soul with everything we have, ending it before it can cause any more destruction."

That was their masterplan, and it would surely work against any opponent in this Monster Tide.

In fact, it might work against anybody in the Higher Domains, such was the power of their combined assault.

And so without waiting, Cavin and Empress rushed forward, channeling the entirety of their power for this attack, their bodies glowing with energy as they prepared to unleash their ultimate strike.

...

Meanwhile...

"Are you sure we should stay here?" Celeste asked as she gazed at Leon, her voice filled with concern, "This doesn’t seem like a good idea..."

"Yeah, the Soul Soldier might attack this building at any point," Violet mumbled, her eyes scanning the horizon nervously.

After noticing that the Soul Soldier had gone to the Requiem Stronghold, Leon had almost immediately grabbed Violet, Celeste and Emilia, and teleported them inside using the World Map, his instincts screaming at him to act fast.

Of course, he didn’t know exactly where the Soul Soldier had landed, but after teleporting, it was quite easy to figure out because of the commotion, the sounds of destruction echoing through the streets.

Thanks to that, the four of them were now standing on a building outside of the Soul Soldier’s destruction zone, their vantage point giving them a clear view of the chaos below.

Though it was extremely close, meaning that it allowed him to see everything clearly, but if the Soul Soldier attacked just a few meters more, the building would be hit and they would be in danger.

The streets were now empty, everything was abandoned, with most people seeking refuge or exiting the Requiem Stronghold entirely to escape the carnage.

"By the way, this is a Monster Tide, and they called it the "Final Wave", so why is the Soul Soldier the only monster present?" Emilia asked, her brow furrowed, "That doesn’t seem logical at all."

"This..." Leon scratched his chin as he realized it as well, "Who knows, maybe there’s more to come."

The vortex above them was still roaring with power, so Leon felt like it wasn’t over just yet, that something else was waiting to happen.

But even if the Soul Soldier was the only monster present, it didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

After all, if the Requiem Guild lost to that thing, this entire Higher Domain would surely fall, and perhaps the other ones too, the destruction spreading like a plague.

Leon was able to check the Soul Soldier’s full panel from there, as well as its appearance, his eyes scanning every detail.

---

[Soul Soldier (Monster Tide Boss)]

[Level: 100]

[Talent: Soul Protection (S-Level)]

[Combat Power: 34,000,000]

[Details: A monster created by the God of Soul himself and empowered by his divine essence, its abilities are beyond anything you can find in the Higher Domains. Its soul was strengthened to withstand powerful soul-based attacks.]

---

Leon’s jaw was wide open as he saw the Combat Power of that thing, his mind struggling to comprehend the number.

It surpassed everything he had seen yet, including the Hunter’s combat power too, which was saying something given how powerful the Hunter was.

Though for some reason, Leon had the feeling that if the Soul Soldier and the Hunter fought, the Hunter would still win easily, his experience and skill far surpassing the monster’s raw power.

The Soul Soldier was a towering figure clad in shining silver armor that reflected the light like a mirror, its surface unblemished and pristine.

In one hand, it held a massive sword with a heart-shaped emblem etched into the blade, and in the other, a shield bearing the same emblem, both weapons radiating power.

Its head was a visor from which its silver glowing eyes could be seen, cold and unfeeling.

But the most terrifying part was its chest, because there was a massive space with a mouth in it, and in the middle of that mouth was a silver heart glowing and floating, pulsing with light.

It was the soul of the Soul Soldier, directly revealed in front of everybody.

Regardless, the Soul Soldier’s Combat Power meant that its stats, skills and weapons were all top-tier, meaning that almost no one here could even hope to challenge it.

In fact, Cavin, Empress, and the entire Requiem Guild would lightly struggle to kill it, as it would take a lot of sacrifices to bring it down.

But that was precisely what their "plan" was, the one that they had been waiting to use since the start of the Monster Tide, the culmination of all their preparation.

...

Back to the Requiem Plaza...

Empress and Cavin gazed at the Soul Soldier’s soul, visible directly in its chest, this was their goal, the way to end this battle immediately with a single decisive strike.

The two of them rushed forward, their bodies moving with incredible speed, and began their assault on the Soul Soldier.

Cavin’s fists slammed into its shield with the force of a meteor, the impact sending shockwaves through the air that cracked the ground beneath them.

Empress’s spear thrust toward its exposed joints, aiming to find a weakness in its armor, her movements precise and calculated.

But the Soul Soldier was faster than they expected, its sword swinging in wide arcs that forced them to dodge and weave, its shield blocking their attacks with ease.

Every time they thought they found an opening, the Soul Soldier would counter, its blade cutting through the air where they had been standing moments before.

The other Requiem Guild members threw everything they had at the creature, their attacks coming from all directions, a barrage of spells and blades that should have overwhelmed any normal opponent.

But the Soul Soldier easily dodged, blocked or tanked their attacks, its movements fluid and precise, its body absorbing blows that would have killed lesser beings.

It was like fighting a wall that could hit back, their efforts seemingly futile against its overwhelming power.

Then, with a sudden burst of speed that caught everyone off guard, the Soul Soldier slashed three of the Requiem Guild members, its blade cutting through their bodies in a single sweep.

Their forms turned into particles as their Resurrection Stones were used up, leaving nothing behind but fading light and the echoes of their final breaths.

Cavin’s eyes widened with rage as he watched his companions fall, his fists clenching with fury, his teeth grinding together.

He turned to Empress, who nodded, understanding what he was about to do without a word needing to be spoken.

She rushed toward him and planted her spear into his arm, the weapon turning into silver shards that spread across his limb, boosting his power exponentially, the energy crackling around him like lightning.

"Here we go," Cavin groaned as he readied himself.
