One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1378 - 1375: Reunion
Princess Juliette's comforting words to Igor weren't just simple consolation. After all, while Igor and his team were undertaking their mission, they weren't idle; their actions never ceased.
Princess Juliette and her allies each took action, pulling in all the observing powers on Bayes Avenue. They didn't resort to threats or inducements, but simply reasoned with them, and these factions understood the gravity of the situation and made what they felt were the right decisions.
"Everything will be fine," Princess Juliette said. She was kind and upright, optimistic, always so full of hope for the future.
Igor lay on the chair formed by the plants, knowing that the future wasn't something he could decide. Regardless of circumstances, he absolutely couldn't be pessimistic. Everything now was something Kadi had fought for them, and if he treated it with pessimism, he'd be dishonoring Kadi's decision.
The future might be good, but it's something they have to strive for themselves.
Strive to overcome difficulties, defeat that enemy, and restore peace to the world.
Igor closed his eyes; his body wouldn't allow him vigorous activity. Resting was the most important thing now.
Just as Igor closed his eyes, Xiso's fingers moved slightly beside him, clearly showing signs of awareness.
Xiso was enduring in the dark chamber, exhausting what little energy he had. From the moment Igor and Kadi formally clashed with Kuyi Tulan, he lost consciousness and couldn't hold on, passing out.
Now he finally regained awareness. His awakening wouldn't be far off, all occurring silently, with Princess Juliette's healing having a very positive effect.
However, the slight movement of Xiso's fingers didn't attract Igor and Princess Juliette's attention, because both were preoccupied with other thoughts.
They were also silently awaiting Xiso's awakening, knowing Xiso would certainly come around.
The news that Xiso had been rescued quickly spread, and the Kangen Family swiftly retreated. Although Bayes Avenue was small, it had its power distribution. The Alchemy Workshop was hit hard, and other organizations dared not move lightly. Now the whole of Xinbal was in chaos. Various powers didn't know which side to join.
The organizations reliant on the Alchemy Workshop were on edge, unsure how to deal with the current situation. Continuing to rely on the Workshop might lead to being harshly attacked by other forces, but severing ties with the Workshop made it difficult to find other support. This dilemma left these organizations on pins and needles. It's a pity such organizations don't have enough strength to secure a foothold in such a place teeming with fish and dragons.
The Kangen Family followed their original plan, swiftly retreating, each having their escape route. Beforehand, they declared to the public that they'd separated from the entire Kangen Family, so the family's original home quickly became a hollow nest. No one knew where the Kangen Family members dispersed to.
Bayes Avenue in Xinbal always hid numerous secrets, unknown alternatives for any ancient family.
Meanwhile, the people from the Alchemy Workshop hurried to the test site, feeling that what transpired there was most important, unable to consider anything else for now...
The two Hunters sent by Prince Charles to assist Igor came up empty-handed. Throughout, they never managed to spot Igor, finding not a trace, making this quite a rare occurrence.
The Kangen Family members learned of Xiso's rescue and were exceptionally excited. But this battle had drained much of their energy, so they had to retreat to rest, for they'd face even fiercer battles later on.
Yet one person still didn't rest because her care for Xiso surpassed everyone else's.
She was Bigas, heading toward Princess Juliette's garden at that moment.
Bigas was no stranger to Princess Juliette's garden, and it didn't hinder her steps. The plants seemed to know this moment belonged to Bigas and cleared the path for her.
Bigas had just stepped down from the battlefront, filthy all over, but she didn't care, too rushed to tidy her appearance, her eagerness to see Xiso making her forget everything irrelevant.
To her, regardless of how Xiso looked, he was her love, she wouldn't abandon him, and Xiso reciprocated the same way.
Bigas walked step by step into Princess Juliette's garden's depths, where Xiso lay, with Igor and Princess Juliette by his side.
"You've come, Bigas!" Princess Juliette smiled at Bigas.
Bigas was thrilled, now seeing only Xiso, uninterested in anyone else.
But upon seeing Xiso's state, she was stunned, having never imagined Xiso would return to his original appearance!
This shocked her, but Bigas, experienced in the world, quickly reacted to the situation. She wiped her face, adjusted her attire, wanting to present her best self when greeting Xiso.
Igor and Princess Juliette felt a hint of awkwardness, realizing they should avoid intruding.
"Let's leave this place to them. After all, it's their reunion moment!" Igor said, trying to stand, his weak body yet to fully recover.
"You're right, we should give them some private space." Princess Juliette quickly supported Igor, and they walked away, leaving it all to Bigas and Xiso.
Bigas wiped tears from her eyes, then turned to bow to Igor and Princess Juliette: "Thank you!"
This surprised Igor and Princess Juliette, seeing the proud Bigas lowering her head...
They didn't know how to respond.
"Thank you for everything you've done for Xiso!" Bigas said again, noting she might never bow, but for Xiso, she'd give up everything.
"Um, it's what I should do, Senior Xiso, he..." stammered Igor, unsure what to say.
"Alright, let them have their time together. Let's go elsewhere," Princess Juliette didn't dwell much, leading Igor away.
Xiso gradually regained sensation as Bigas stayed by him. The first person Xiso would see upon opening his eyes would be Bigas, surely a delight.
This reunion was truly special, and Princess Juliette had indeed put in much thought...
