Chapter 521: Distract

The front was tapered. This was a woman’s nail.

“Whose is that?” Kui Yi frowned. “Is it Yu Yu’s or Lin…” Kui Yi stopped himself. He suddenly recalled that the pretty woman with the surname Lin shared an unusual relationship with the man beside him. He should shut up. He knew that people from Deep Red had crazy tempers.

Jiang Cheng reached out to slowly push the door open. He was not nervous because he knew what kind of person Lin Wan ‘Er was. If only one could survive between Lin Wan ‘Er, Cao Yang and Yu Yu, he knew the survivor would be Lin Wan ‘Er.

The door creaked softly, but it was amplified by the silence. Kui Yi looked around nervously. The room was dark. He could barely pick out a bed. There was a grey silhouette near the wall. It should be a medical device. The moment the door opened, a revolting smell of blood wafted out.

The flickering lights in the corridor suddenly stabilised. When Kui Yi took a good look inside the room, his face paled. The floor, bed, machines, walls and ceiling were covered in blood. This was like a picture from hell.

A slippery feeling came from his feet. Every step left behind sticky trails. It felt like more than one person had died there. There was a headless corpse in the bed. The white nurse's outfit was soaked with blood. The arm dangled down weakly. This was clearly Zhao Ru’s body. It matched what Yu Yu told him.

Other than that, Jiang Cheng turned to glance at the corner. There was a black iron cupboard. The door had been torn apart. A dead body was draped over the cupboard. The body was incomplete. It looked barely human. The floor around the corpse was littered with bone chips and broken meat. After the person was dragged into the room, the victim suffered long torment before dying.

“It’s Yu Yu,” Kui Yi whispered. She was probably assaulted by the ghost in the corridor. The girl reacted quickly and went to hide in the iron cupboard. That was clear from how the door was torn apart. Regardless, her death was inevitable. She had a worse death than Zhao Ru. Zhao Ru had only a single wound. The flesh around the neck was torn through. Perhaps pairs of sharp teeth bit it off.

They checked the room quickly. They couldn’t find any trace related to Lin Wan ‘Er, Cao Yang and Director Qi. However, Jiang Cheng found a rope made from a shredded bedsheet under the bed.

“What is that?” Kui Yi was curious.

“Director Qi should still be alive.” Jiang Cheng tossed the rope. “The ghost probably detained Director Qi by tying him up and trapping him inside Room 624. However, when the ghost chased after us, Yu Yu’s team found Director Qi and saved him. Unfortunately, Yu Yu was killed when the ghost came back.”

Kui Yi scratched his chin. “No wonder the ghost suddenly left us alone. It probably sensed that Director Qi had escaped.”

“That makes sense,” Jiang Cheng concurred. It was good news that Director Qi had been rescued. The imminent quest was to find the survivors.

As they left Room 624, the door of the adjacent room opened slightly. Kui Yi noticed this instantly.

“Calm down.” Cao Yang leaned out and said in fear, “It’s me.”

Kui Yi’s face was pale. He thought the ghost was lying in ambush. “Why are you here?” Jiang Cheng frowned. “Where are the rest?”

“Who do you mean?” Cao Yang almost cried. “The ghost chased after Miss Lin and killed her. Then, it came back to kill Yu Yu.” The large man trembled as the horrors returned. “You didn’t see that ghost. My God. Its shoulders were covered in many heads. There were five… no ten of them! I was so scared!”

“Impossible!” Jiang Cheng strode forward to grab Cao Yang by his collar. He almost lifted the man up. “Lin Wan ‘Er can’t be dead. You’re still alive. How can she be dead?”

This scared Cao Yang. He quickly explained, “Brother Jiang, I know you are close to Miss Lin, but I’m not lying.”

“Where is her body?”

“Maybe you can let him down first.” It was Kui Yi who became the mediator. Neither of them dared to offend Jiang Cheng.

“It’s like this. At first, Yu Yu and I were hiding nicely. Then, Miss Lin came to find us and told us that you were delaying the ghost. She said that Director Qi should still be alive. The ghost hid him away. Therefore, we started to look for him. Eventually, we found him under the bed in Room 624. He was unconscious and tied up, but he was still alive!

“However, as we tried to wake him, the ghost came up!” Cao Yang said agitatedly. “We couldn’t escape with an unconscious Director Qi, so Miss Lin volunteered to distract the ghost. She told us to wake Director Qi and escape.”

“Rubbish!” Jiang Cheng countered, “The ghost’s target is Director Qi. How could she possibly distract the ghost when you had Director Qi?”

As Jiang Cheng was about to explode, Cao Yang added, “It’s true. I don’t know why. The ghost went with her. Right!” Cao Yang remembered something. “Miss Lin cut her wrist. Perhaps the smell of blood lured the ghost away. It’s there.” He pointed at the floor where there were drops of blood. They trailed all the way to the corner of the corridor.

“So, you suspect that Miss Lin is dead, but you have no evidence, right?” Kui Yi kept shooting daggers at Cao Yang.

“Yes, but how can Miss Lin survive on her own? She is definitely dead,” Cao Yang stammered. He was sure.
