Nightmare Assault
Chapter 518: Fragile
There were human heads of varying sizes. Some were the size of basketballs, and others were the size of cups. They looked like tiny boils. Most of them were kids, but there were also young men. The female faces were twisted, as if they wanted to crawl out of the ghost’s body.
Jiang Cheng spotted a familiar head. It was a lady’s head. The brows were furrowed. The mouth fell open as if she couldn’t believe she’d be killed. After all, her murderer was her biological mother. This was Zhao Ru’s head.
Not long ago, Yu Yu sent the message to say that they had found Zhao Ru’s decapitated body inside Room 624. The ghost transferred the woman’s head to its body. The ghost probably consumed the head and had it regrown on its body. The detail was not important.
Seeing this, the children's missing heads finally had an explanation. Was it a ritual or the power of the ghost? Jiang Cheng had no clue.
As Kui Yi ran over, Jiang Cheng pushed a bicycle out from the corner. Then, he rammed it into the ghost. Kui Yi leapt over the bicycle. The bicycle was sturdy, and Jiang Cheng didn’t hold back. Even so, it only stopped the ghost for a while. Thankfully, it was more than enough. Jiang Cheng turned and ran. Kui Yi gritted his teeth and followed him.
Eventually, they lost the ghost. The footsteps disappeared. Jiang Cheng pulled Kui Yi into a room to hide. Neither of them dared to open the light. They hid together in the dark.
“Have… we lost it?” Kui Yi gasped for air. However, he didn’t dare to be too loud.
Jiang Cheng glanced through the gap in the door. He frowned. “Unlikely.”
“Why?” Kui Yi was startled.
“I feel like it has purposely let us go. With its speed, it definitely could have caught up to us.” Jiang Cheng saw the ghost’s speed when it was chasing after Kui Yi. When he used the door, Kui Yi’s entire physique was enhanced. It was more than just his arm. A normal person would have been killed already. Well… their heads would be taken away. With that in mind, Jiang Cheng thought of Fatty. If Fatty were there, Jiang Cheng would have scared him.
Jiang Cheng revealed Fatty’s information to the middle-aged man. Jiang Cheng couldn’t find the forces behind Fatty, but the middle-aged man could. It was clear that the mysterious party wanted Fatty to spy on Jiang Cheng. However, Jiang Cheng had no idea why they sent someone so dumb. If Jiang Cheng wanted to, Fatty would have died so many times already.
However, based solely on the result, the other party had succeeded. The real reason Jiang Cheng chased Fatty away was not that Fatty was a threat but because Jiang Cheng’s feelings towards Fatty began to change. It changed from initial wariness to trust.
Jiang Cheng didn’t know why, but when Fatty first appeared in his studio, he sensed something was wrong with him. Jiang Cheng allowed him to stay on purpose. He wanted to figure out what Fatty was up to. However, he failed to get any clues from Fatty. If anything, he was slowly being changed by Fatty! That was the thing that truly frightened Jiang Cheng!
At first, it was not that obvious. However, recently, he noticed it more clearly. He became more sentimental and had more friends. The world that once felt so aloof seemed to have changed. It felt like an abandoned child, realising the world was not as cold as he assumed. This sounded good, but it was not great for him.
The more a person became attached to something, the weaker they’d become. Fatty brought colours to his world, but he also made him weak. He felt anger at Xu Yi’s death and voluntarily hugged the lost Nan Jing. However, they were mere pedestrians in his world. It was unimaginable.
Perhaps that was what the people behind Fatty wanted to see! They wanted to use Fatty to destroy him!
When Jiang Cheng realised that, he felt fear for the first time. The slow and dumb Fatty instilled fear in him. Waiting for death was not his personality, so he instantly made a move. There was nothing more direct than killing the annoying Fatty. Since Fatty was the one who constructed Jiang Cheng’s connections to this world, he had to kill him.
With the goal in mind, he just needed to find the perfect time.
1 am… If he killed Fatty during that period, he would have plenty of time to deal with the body. He could send the corpse to the landfill outside the city. Jiang Cheng had arranged everything in his mind. He just needed to make a move. He hadn’t killed anyone in the real world, but it didn’t mean that he didn’t know how to do it. It merely meant that the need hadn’t arisen.
He opened his eyes at 1 am. He sneaked barefoot to the living room. He stood before Fatty’s sofa bed.
Fatty was so defenceless that the saliva leaked out of his mouth. He mumbled something like “you can’t run away from me…” Then, he giggled.
Jiang Cheng suddenly felt overprepared. Fatty had no sense of alertness. He was someone who could fall asleep in a nightmare. He could snap his neck easily. There would be no pain and noise.
He would open for business in the morning. No one would realise Fatty was gone, other than the people behind him.
Jiang Cheng stood there for a long time without doing anything. In the end, he turned back into the kitchen and returned with a knife. The blade glinted coldly.
A knife would work.
Even though cleaning up would be more annoying, at least he wouldn’t need to touch Fatty’s body.
