Chapter 517: Targets

Kui Yi was startled when he received the message, but he still clicked on the video link. The video started to play. Kui Yi’s expression changed dramatically. When the video ended, he still hadn’t recovered. He turned his stiff neck. Director Qi stood right behind him. He was staring at him strangely. Time stopped in that moment.

When the four eyes met, Kui Yi could hear his own heartbeat. He didn’t even feel that way when he was with his girlfriend. He quickly put away his phone and smiled at Director Qi. “That was a misunderstanding. I was kidding with you. I didn’t hurt you, right?”

Director Qi’s eyes slowly moved upwards until his pupils disappeared. Kui Yi felt a chill run up his spine. Director Qi’s face started to twist. His bones and muscles moved. The strangest thing was that the man’s flesh under the coat also changed. Many round items wiggled under the coat. Soon, the buttons flew open, revealing many human faces. There were faces of various ages. All of them were screaming.

At that moment, Kui Yi believed there were more than ten ghosts within Director Qi’s body. And they were about to escape!

“Fuck!” Kui Yi couldn’t stand there anymore. He opened the door inside his body to summon the thing inside. Scales grew over his skin, and his arm expanded like a balloon. Kui Yi swung his fist. He aimed at Director Qi’s face. Director Qi’s face kept rotting. His lips fell apart. The rotting skin stuck to his face. An eyeball rotted inside the socket. The other was barely hanging on. How could this be a human?

This was a decomposing corpse.

With the smack, the face sank. Even the skull cracked. Smelly pus leaked out of the cracks. The other eye tumbled out. It was hanging by a few blood capillaries. The neck was snapped, but the face still stared at Kui Yi.

The ghost cackled.

The next second, Director Qi, with the broken neck, stalked towards Kui Yi. The latter screamed and ran to chase after Jiang Cheng.

The footsteps behind him became more insistent. One of the ghost’s steps was equal to eight of his. Thinking about what Jiang Cheng had done, Kui Yi wanted to slap himself. Jiang Cheng was so cunning. Was he not afraid of karma?“Jiang Cheng!” Kui Yi’s loud yells echoed in the empty hospital. “Come and save me. If the ghost eats the door inside me, you’ll die here too!

“Neither of us can deal with the door inside this ghost’s body alone. Who knew how many people it had already eaten?

“Xiang Nan’s door has been fully corrupted. It is now a mobile door. We are its targets! It is after the doors inside us!

“Brother Jiang!” Kui Yi heard the approaching footsteps. “Save me!”

Jiang Cheng hid behind the corner and watched Kui Yi closely. He told Lin Wan ‘Er to leave to find Yu Yu and Cao Yang. After all, there were things that he didn’t want her to know. Things were moving too fast. The real Director Qi had fallen into the hands of the thing behind Xiang Nan’s door.

There were only two potential outcomes.

First, Director Qi was dead, and the mission failed.

Second, Director Qi was still alive because the ritual hadn’t started. When the time came, the ghost would kill him to initiate the ritual.

Jiang Cheng couldn’t tell which situation it was. Regardless, he needed to do something to save Kui Yi. It was not because of camaraderie. What Kui Yi said saved himself. He was more experienced with door-related tasks. Plus, he mentioned that he had received a request to handle this. That proved that the person who approached him knew about Nan Huaili’s disappearance and its connection to the supernatural.

This was a brand-new domain for Jiang Cheng. He didn’t care about it in the past, but he had a door inside him then. From Kui Yi’s reaction, it appeared that Wu was extremely powerful when compared to other doors. This was a good thing for Jiang Cheng. He needed Kui Yi to be alive because he needed the knowledge in his head.

“Brother Kui Yi, here!” Jiang Cheng reached out with half of his body to wave.

When he saw Jiang Cheng, Kui Yi almost cried. He thought Jiang Cheng had escaped with Lin Wan ‘Er. He didn’t think the man had a conscience. He felt that he had misunderstood Jiang Cheng.

The creepy laughter came from behind him. Kui Yi’s ass tightened, and he ran faster. The thing that tailed Kui Yi had revealed its true self.

Aside from the tilted skull, many other human heads grew from its shoulders and neck. The skin was a green-ashy colour. It looked like eerie branches hanging off the barely-human body.

Every human head appeared to retain consciousness at the moment of death. Aside from the detached head, the other heads looked like they were in pain. Some widened their mouths to scream. Others cried tears of pain.

Two heads bit at each other, causing blood to leak out of the wounds.

The image was more than what words could describe. Even Jiang Cheng’s breathing halted.
