Nightmare Assault
Chapter 516: Clever Brother Kui Yi
Based on the video, Director Qi didn’t stop when he arrived at the hospital. Instead, he rushed into the hospital as if he saw someone important. He didn’t hide behind a tree to call anyone. Therefore, the person who called Jiang Cheng was a ghost.
Yu Yu saw everything from upstairs. She knew that the ghost was with them. That was why she didn’t dare to pick up the phone but sent them a video message instead. This was not good.
“What are you looking at?” Kui Yi walked over curiously.
“Nothing.” Jiang Cheng naturally put the phone away. He saw from the corner of his eye Lin Wan ‘Er and Director Qi standing behind him. Director Qi rubbed his arms and kept looking around, like a scared man.
“Is there no news from Yu Yu and the rest?” Kui Yi frowned. “Now that the ghost is missing. It might have gone after them.” Kui Yi knew that without him or Jiang Cheng, Yu Yu and Cao Yang would die if they encountered the ghost.
Jiang Cheng looked up and said evenly, “Do not be scared. I’ve lured the ghost away. It is now looking for Director Qi outside the hospital.”
Kui Yi was anxious. “I know, but I still feel something is not right.”
“Don’t scare yourself.” Jiang Cheng walked forward to tap his shoulder. He consoled him. “You are very safe now.”
“Let’s hope so.” Kui Yi rubbed his chest. Jiang Cheng didn’t hold back earlier. If he didn’t train normally, he would have fainted already.
“Brother Jiang.” Director Qi’s trembling voice came from behind. “Do you mean a few others are currently in hiding?”Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes. He knew the ghost’s intention. It wanted to use the travellers to find all the survivors and catch them all at once. It looked like this ghost didn’t have any special powers to locate people, or else it wouldn’t have to do this.
This was good news for the travellers. However, he didn’t know what kind of special power the ghost had.
It was too dangerous to travel with a ghost. Jiang Cheng needed to find a chance to shake it off before locating Yu Yu and Cao Yang. Those two had been hiding at the hospital for a long time. They should have other clues. His gaze wandered around before settling on Kui Yi.
Kui Yi approached Director Qi. He also knew that protecting Director Qi was the key.
“Kui Yi.” Jiang Cheng walked over and said, “We need to keep going up to find Yu Yu and Cao Yang.”
“Okay.” Kui Yi nodded.
“You don’t get it.” Jiang Cheng continued, “We will bring Director Qi upstairs. You will wait for us down here. After all, the ghost is disguising itself as you. I fear Yu Yu and Cao Yang will not show up if they see you.” Then, Jiang Cheng reached over to grab Director Qi. However, Kui Yi was quicker than he was. He yanked Director Qi’s wrist and pulled him over.
“Brother Jiang.” Kui Yi smiled. “It’s very inconvenient for you to bring Director Qi with you. How about I stay behind to protect Director Qi? You can come back to find us once you find Yu Yu and Cao Yang.” Kui Yi scoffed internally. He knew what Jiang Cheng was planning. If they led Director Qi away, would they come back for him? Of course not!
They wanted to abandon him. Once the ghost realised it had been tricked, it could return to the hospital. Kui Yi was not dumb. He was not going to be tricked so easily. With Director Qi by his side, he had control of the situation. In that case, the travellers, including Jiang Cheng, would eventually have to return to him. Even though he couldn’t win Jiang Cheng in a fight, he was definitely more cunning than Jiang Cheng.
He looked at Jiang Cheng with sincerity, but his eyes were filled with mockery. His hand, which held Director Qi’s wrist, tightened.
“Mr Kui Yi.” Director Qi winced from pain. He pleaded, “I think I should follow Brother Jiang…” Before he could finish, Kui Yi turned to glare at him. Director Qi instantly shut up.
“Brother Kui Yi, what are you doing?” Jiang Cheng hid the annoyance in his eyes well. His tone was flawless. However, the expression shift didn’t escape Kui Yi’s eyes.
Kui Yi confirmed his judgment. He smiled. “Brother Jiang, I don’t get what you’re trying to say. We all know that Director Qi is a burden. It’ll be inconvenient to bring him with you. In that case, I will volunteer to protect him.” Kui Yi chuckled, “Brother Jiang, you won’t disappoint my kindness, right?”
“Are you sure you want to do that?” Jiang Cheng sighed. His tone softened, as if in surrender.
“Of course!”
“Alright then.” Jiang Cheng glanced at Director Qi unwillingly. Then, he turned.
“Fight with me?” Kui Yi scoffed. He turned and realised Director Qi was glaring at him creepily. Kui Yi was furious. After all, Director Qi was the reason why they were being chased by the ghost. He raised his hand to slap Director Qi’s head. “What are you glaring at? When this is over, you’ll have much to learn!” Director Qi suffered the slap and said nothing. He continued to look at Kui Yi.
After Jiang Cheng and Lin Wan ‘Er turned the corner and escaped Director Qi’s line of sight, Jiang Cheng paused to sigh in relief.
“Why did you leave the ghost with Kui Yi?” Lin Wan ‘Er asked, “I don’t think he’ll survive this time.”
Jiang Cheng glanced at Lin Wan ‘Er, who was leaning against the wall. “How did you tell?” When Yu Yu sent him the video, he remembered Lin Wan ‘Er was standing very far away. Did she figure out something was wrong with Director Qi? That shouldn’t be.
“Have you forgotten who taught you those tricks?” Lin Wan ‘Er pulled her hair behind her ear. She had a charming smile.
Jiang Cheng, “...” She was right. When he tried to set up the trap for Kui Yi, she probably figured out everything. She read from his mannerism that something was wrong with Director Qi.
“Where are we going now?” She asked.
“Wait a minute.” Jiang Cheng took out his phone to send Kui Yi a short message. “My dear, clever and brilliant Brother Kui Yi, can you check this video message that I’m sending you?”
