Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 897: Uninhabited Star System No. 000128
Within a radius of twenty light-years, besides the inhabited star systems, there were also uninhabited ones.
An uninhabited star wasn't devoid of life. Rather, it referred to a star system unsuitable for human habitation.
Every inhabited star system occupied by the human race had been transformed by powerful human experts.
Alongside inhabited planets, each contained resource planets that supplied the humans with the materials they needed, ensuring their cultivation proceeded far more smoothly.
Uninhabited star systems, however, came into being for many different reasons.
Some formed naturally, while others were the result of later events.
During the great wars of the past, countless inhabited star systems of the human race were devastated and reduced to ruins.
Those beyond restoration eventually became uninhabited star systems.
Some of these war-torn star systems even gave birth to strange and dangerous phenomena.
The human race's experts eliminated some of these dangers while deliberately leaving others behind.
Over time, these uninhabited star systems became training grounds where the younger generation could undertake missions and temper themselves.
The mission Lin Moyu accepted this time took place in the real world.
Although it was also a level 2 mission, level 2 missions within the Human Emperor Network carried no real danger. At worst, one simply failed the mission. Consequently, their rewards were only about half those of real-world missions.
Lin Moyu's current mission was a perfect example.
Despite being only level 2, it offered a reward of 100 points.
While there was some risk, level 2 missions were intended for people below the 6th tier Transcendent God realm.
No matter how dangerous they were, the threat was limited.
After accepting the mission, Lin Moyu searched for information on the Vermilion Bird Ininhabited Star System No. 000128.
The Human Emperor Network provided a vast amount of information free of charge.
Only classified materials required payment, with access determined by one's authority level.
Vermilion Bird Uninhabited Star System No. 000128 lay five light-years from Inhabited Star System No. 98.
It had once been a thriving star system inhabited by lifeforms resembling fire elementals.
During a massive war, however, the entire star system was destroyed.
Its star exploded into countless fragments, engulfing the star system in a sea of flames.
The inferno raged for more than ten thousand years before gradually subsiding.
Even then, the flames never completely died out.
From these lingering flames, a rare material known as Starfire Metal was born.
Starfire Metal contained the power of the law of fire and was an exceptional material for forging equipment.
The objective of this mission was to collect at least ten catties of Starfire Metal—roughly the volume of a fist.
Finding the metal itself wasn't especially difficult.
The real challenge came from the Starfire Beasts that accompanied it.
Every piece of Starfire Metal had companion Starfire Beasts guarding it, and obtaining the metal required killing the Starfire Beasts first.
The mission records also carried a special warning.
Within the Vermilion Bird Uninhabited Star System No. 000128, one had to be extremely wary of Starfire.
Starfire was a remnant of the ancient stellar explosions.
Though countless years had passed, it still burned throughout the star system.
It could inflict tremendous damage on both the body and the soul, making extreme caution essential.
After memorizing all the relevant information, Lin Moyu exited the Human Emperor Network.
He located the nearest teleportation formation and spent 1 point to travel to the Vermilion Bird Uninhabited Star System No. 000128.
Teleportation fees were the same in reality as they were within the Human Emperor Network.
Any destination within ten light-years cost 1 point.
As countless streams of light flashed past his eyes, Lin Moyu felt as though the stars themselves were racing past him.
A teleportation speed of one light-year per second was unimaginably fast.
The immense pressure generated by the teleportation enveloped his body.
It was so intense that only Transcendent Gods could withstand it.
Only now did Lin Moyu understand why those below the Transcendent God realm couldn't obtain level 1 authority or use the teleportation formations.
The pressure alone was enough to crush a half-step Transcendent God into dust.
The Transcendent God realm truly marked the threshold.
Teleportation in the real world also differed slightly from that within the Human Emperor Network.
Inside the network, teleportation imposed no such burden.
Five seconds later, the teleportation came to an end.
Lin Moyu stepped out of the formation.
The humans had constructed a massive teleportation platform on the outer edge of the Vermilion Bird Uninhabited Star System No. 000128.
From there, travelers had to make their own way into the star system.
The star system stretched before him.
It appeared close enough to touch, yet the actual distance was unimaginably vast.
Lin Moyu unfurled his Deathwings and poured soul force into them, flying toward the star system at full speed.
A few minutes later, however, he was forced to stop.
Despite flying at maximum speed, he had covered only an insignificant fraction of the distance.
At this rate, it would take him at least ten days of nonstop flight just to reach the star system.
Lin Moyu couldn't help recalling an old saying: “Looking at a mountain can run a horse to death.”
Now, he was looking at the planets, and they were about to fly him to death instead.
Without hesitation, he summoned the Godslaying Fortress.
The fortress had shrunk into the form of a tower, looking exactly like the Thunderlight Tower.
Entering it, Lin Moyu connected with its core through his soul and continuously poured soul force into it.
Layers of crackling lightning enveloped the fortress.
In the next instant, it turned into a bolt of lightning and shot into the starry sky with a piercing whoosh.
Watching the star system rush toward him, Lin Moyu was astonished by its speed. It far surpassed his Deathwings.
"No wonder Antares insisted I bring the Godslaying Fortress. Who would've thought it'd be this useful for traveling?”
After a quick estimate, he concluded that the Godslaying Fortress was roughly a hundred times faster than his Deathwings.
At this pace, it would take less than two hours to reach the star system.
Soul force flowed continuously from him to sustain the fortress, but inside his soul, the talent tree gently swayed.
Its drooping branches brushed against him as an endless stream of soul force poured back into him, replenishing every bit he expended.
Although the fortress consumed soul force rapidly, the talent tree restored it even faster, easily keeping up with the drain.
With his current soul force, Lin Moyu couldn't fully unleash the Godslaying Fortress's full combat power, but using it as a means of transportation posed no problem at all.
Wrapped in crackling lightning, the Godslaying Fortress streaked through the pitch-black starry sky.
Less than two hours later, it entered the Vermilion Bird Uninhabited Star System No. 000128.
The fortress slowed to a stop.
The moment Lin Moyu stepped outside, an intense wave of heat washed over him.
"What incredible heat... At least ten thousand degrees."
The star system had no stars. Without stars providing heat, it should have been unimaginably cold, yet it was scorching hot, saturated with dense fire element.
Scattered throughout the space were planet fragments.
Lin Moyu could clearly sense terrifying heat still raging within them.
Their charred, blackened exteriors completely belied the infernos hidden inside.
When the star had exploded, the resulting flames had raged for ten thousand years, reducing the entire star system to the devastated wasteland before him.
Lin Moyu selected the largest nearby planet fragment and flew toward it.
Though only a third of the original planet remained, it was still enormous. It was even larger than the small world he had come from.
One could only imagine how colossal it had been before its destruction.
A planet of this size was very likely to contain Starfire Metal.
As for the Starfire Beasts that guarded it, Lin Moyu paid them little mind.
Even Transcendent God realm Starfire Beasts posed no threat to him.
Just as he was about to land, a soul-echo rose abruptly, "My friend, wait a moment."
Lin Moyu turned toward the source and saw three figures flying in his direction.
They had apparently been on the far side of the planet fragment, hidden from his view until now.
The two newcomers, a man and a woman, hadn't concealed their basic information. Both were 4th tier Transcendent Gods.
