Chapter 76: Naruto’s Tears

At this moment, Minato and Kushina weren’t the only ones listening to Kurama.

Naruto was also listening to him.

He couldn’t help but tear up when he heard Kurama’s confession.

"Damn you, fox!"

He cursed and hugged Hinata.

Hinata didn’t know why Naruto was crying, but she silently wrapped her arms around him tightly.

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid fox!"

Naruto kept cursing him while crying. He was truly foolish.

How could there be an unlimited amount of Six Paths Senjutsu?

Six Paths Senjutsu Chakra was created by merging Six Paths Chakra with nature energy.

Sure, Kurama could absorb nature energy, but it didn’t have Six Paths Chakra. Even if it did, it would’ve been limited.

More importantly, it would be the Ten-Tails absorbing Nine-Tails Chakra, not the other way around.

He should’ve realized there were certain risks and mechanisms to achieve this.

Or rather, he did. But he didn’t think much about it since Kurama hadn’t told him about the Karma thing.

At this moment, the last trace of resentment that Naruto held towards Kurama disappeared.

This was not Naruto from the future, Naruto who had suffered the loss of his mentor, the destruction of his village, and learned to grow up.

This was Naruto who had barely started his ninja career.

He was just a kid trying to be a Hokage early, just so that he could stay home with his children in the future.

He was a kid who prioritized family and love over the grand peace and ending of the cycle of hatred.

Because when future Naruto sent those memories, he made the memories in a way that would affect current Naruto but not overtake him.

That meant Naruto’s control, understanding of power, and choices that future Naruto made would be clear to past Naruto.

But the past Naruto wouldn’t transform into the future Naruto.

So, Naruto still had a small trace of hatred towards Kurama, especially after living with his parents in his psyche for a month.

The only reason why Naruto was even able to put aside this hatred was because of future Kurama and the fact that his father chose to die.

The former had more impact, but the latter did affect him.

So, this last bit of hatred was not enough to consume him, but it did exist.

Just like how this Naruto hated Obito was passion. Of course, he understood that the future Naruto hadn’t chosen to forgive Obito.

He simply chose to accept Obito, who was aspiring to become Hokage, and sacrificed his life for them over forgiving him.

He simply chose to break out of the cycle of hatred and look at Obito’s death from a different perspective.

Naruto once held a kunai in his hand and prepared himself to take Haku’s life.

Naruto once directly said to Gaara that he would kill him if he attacked his friend and the village.

Naruto only forgave Nagato, and he did that because of Jiraiya.

He told Sasuke that he hated the villagers, wanting them to die sometimes.

Naruto never cried for Hiruzen.

This moment perfectly highlights early Naruto’s mentality. He wanted to become Hokage, only to change the perspective of the village towards him.

He wanted to feel alive.

That’s all the reason why he wanted to become Hokage.

So, a kid who could cry for their enemies (Zabuza and Haku) felt only a little bit of sadness towards Hiruzen.

For Naruto’s entire life, Hiruzen was portrayed as a kind old man who was always there to help Naruto.

But maybe deep down, Naruto understood that Hiruzen wasn’t the kind of person he showed he was.

That’s why Naruto broke down in tears when Jiraiya died, even though they only stayed together for three years.

Hiruzen had twelve years.

Of course, Hiruzen was busy most of the time, but for twelve years, he should’ve at least made some impact in Naruto’s heart.

But he didn’t. The only thing that Naruto did during the funeral was ask why people sacrifice their lives for others.

Because he didn’t fight Gaara for the village. He fought Gaara for Sakura and Sasuke.

And also because he wanted to prove that his conviction, his mentality that was the complete opposite of Gaara’s, was right.

Naruto always fought to prove others wrong. That’s a beautiful thing about his journey.

So, Naruto was never a guy who would just forgive everyone else. So, the Past Naruto would be no different.

He still had that hatred inside of him, hatred towards the village, hatred towards Kurama, hatred towards Obito, Madara, and Black Zetsu.

He even had anger towards his father.

But Naruto never let it out. In twelve years of his life, he had cried so much that his tears would only come out if he felt true pain.

Watching Haku die, losing Sasuke, and losing Jiraiya were the only things that made him cry.

Until the last moment when his father was returning to the Pure Land.

When he heard the truth from Kurama, Naruto didn’t just hear his words.

He checked his own chakra.

Just as Kurama said, his Chakra was entering the seal, reaching Kurama.

After all, just as Otsutsuki could devour the Ten-Tails, the Ten-Tails could also devour Otsutsuki.

So, Kurama wasn’t lying. He was just hiding the fact.

From those memories, Naruto understood that the Ten-Tails didn’t have an awareness or identity like the Divine Tree people.

If Kurama had transformed into the Ten-Tails, he would’ve been no different, losing his mind completely and becoming a tamed Ten-Tails.

Taming was the reason why future Kurama chose to do this.

Even Otsutsuki couldn’t tame Ten-Tails. They could only let it eat their fellow Otsutsuki, transform it into a Divine Tree, and make a Chakra Fruit.

But if it could be tamed, Ten-Tails powering Naruto would be immensely strong, stronger than Kaguya and Hagoromo.

That being said, Naruto was happy that Kurama didn’t disappear. As his tears dried, he mumbled.

"That stupid fox! He made me cry again. I am going to use Thousand Years of Death Jutsu on him one day."
