Chapter 40: Sect members identification
Time passed quickly. The sun blazed high above, bathing the entire world in oppressive heat.
On one of the mountain peaks of the Bloody Rose sect, the disciples were still competing. By now, the positions of elders had all been decided, and others were currently battling for the spots of core disciples.
Since everyone else was at the QI Gathering Realm, there were no restrictions, and everyone was allowed to fight to become one of the fifty core disciples of the Bloody Rose sect.
Gu Chen didn’t find the fights of the QI Gathering Realm disciples to be too interesting but he still watched anyways since there was nothing else to do.
At the moment, a young girl with long red hair that was held up into two ponytails was currently fighting another young woman who seemed to be in her late twenties.
Both were beauties, but the red-haired girl still had her youthful charm, small face and large eyes that held crimson pupils. Her body was developing quite well, and she had very long and slender legs.
She looked very cute and made one instinctively want to pat her head. However, her fighting style didn’t match her appearance at all!
Her opponent used dual blades and could control the ground around them as they fought. However, this red-haired girl was only using her fists to fight!
Most shocking was that she wasn’t losing. Gu Chen didn’t recognise the fist technique that she was using; the girl was able to summon an illusory image of a giant ape whenever she attacked, and her fists were covered in lightning.
While the force of her punch hadn’t reached the Foundation Establishment Realm, it was beyond what these QI Gathering Realm cultivators could handle.
She swiftly defeated one opponent after another, and soon, she secured five wins and earned a spot as a core disciple.
Gu Chen’s expression only changed when Feng Shuran called the name of the girl and announced that she was now a Core disciple of the sect.
The red-haired girl was actually Ting Ting!
’Interesting,’ Gu Chen thought to himself with a slight smile. No one could tell, but thanks to the system, he knew that Ting Ting was born with blocked meridians and shouldn’t be able to cultivate.
Yet, she was able to defeat all her opponents with relative ease. She should already be at the 7th or 8th stage of the QI Gathering Realm from what Gu Chen had observed.
He was really curious about how the girl had done it.
He didn’t act right away, deciding to continue watching for now.
After Ting Ting’s fight, others continued fighting for the remaining spots.
The positions of core disciples were soon all taken. Next was to choose those who would be inner disciples and those who would be outer disciples.
The remaining women who didn’t make it as core disciples gathered on one side of the platform and looked as the sect master came down. They were already aware of how this would be decided and could only pray that they were lucky enough to be amongst the half who would become inner disciples.
Standing on the concrete platform, Feng Shuran stared at them with a calm face for a bit before slowly lifting her right hand and pointed it at the center of the crowd. A gentle force was released and divided the crowd from that position, separating the crowd into two different groups.
The disciples were silent; all of them had hopeful expressions as they waited for the sect master to speak.
Feng Shuran stared at them for a few seconds before turning her head towards the group on the right and said.
"Those of you here will be the inner disciples of the Bloody Rose sect from now on." After saying that, she turned to face the group on the left and added. "The rest of you are now outer disciples."
Waves of various emotions resounded through the air as the disciples expressed themselves through sounds from their mouths. Some of them were happy while some were dissatisfied.
However, they didn’t dare to refuse Feng Shuran’s decision and could only grumble while cursing their luck.
Feng Shuran stared at them for a while before reminding them about the six-month tournament that would be held in the sect twice every year. During the tournament, outer disciples could challenge inner disciples, and if they won, they would be promoted, while the loser would become an outer disciple.
Hearing this, the new outer disciples cheered up a bit. They had forgotten about this tournament earlier. Thanks to the sect master, they were reminded that their current position was temporary and they could change it.
Seeing that the mood of the disciples had improved, Feng Shuran nodded and returned to the sitting area. She stood at the edge and looked at all the members of the Bloody Rose sect.
"Now that the structure of the sect has been established, there are other things you all need to know." Feng Shuran voiced out.
The women on the ground all looked at her with extreme focus, not wanting to miss any word from the sect master’s mouth.
Feng Shuran started speaking. Starting with the uniform of the elders. Elders of a sect shouldn’t be using the same uniform as disciples; it would make the sect look disorganised when they went out.
Feng Shuran had decided that the elders would all be using white robes, and the only difference would be the colour of their waist sash.
The different colours of waist sashes were red, yellow, blue, green, orange, brown, and purple.
The first elder was the only one allowed to use a red waist sash, and the outer elder used purple.
As for the disciples, all of them would keep using the purple robe, and the way to tell who was an inner sect disciple or core disciple would be their sect tokens.
Speaking to this point, Feng Shuran waved her right hand, and a small pouch appeared in the air before floating over to Quin Xuxu. Inside were the different tokens for members of the sect which she had prepared some time ago.
She ordered Quin Xuxu to distribute them to everyone later, and aside from the elders, everyone else must have their token with them at all times.
The tokens of the elders were made from pure gold and had a bit of Feng Shuran’s qi inside; this would make it impossible to duplicate.
Tokens of core disciples were made from green jade, while the ones carried by inner disciples were made from silver.
As for outer disciples’ tokens, they were made from a special red wood that was difficult to break.
While all of the tokens were of various colours and materials, they all had two similarities. One was Feng Shuran’s qi stored within them; the other was the carving of a rose flower on the surface of all the tokens.
Quin Xuxu received the pouch and cupped her hands, saying that she would give them out as instructed.
Feng Shuran nodded and faced everyone again; she wasn’t done.
After a while, she was finally done. The women on the ground were currently all looking at Feng Shuran with sparkling eyes.
How could they not? What Feng Shuran had talked about last involved spirit stones!
Cultivators naturally needed spirit stones to aid in their cultivation, and every sect would give out certain numbers of spirit stones to their members.
The Bloody Rose sect wasn’t any different, and Feng Shuran had already made plans for that. The numbered elders would receive twenty spirit stones and a bottle of grade 1 to 5 qi-replenishing pills every year according to their position.
The outer elder and mission elder would only receive twenty spirit stones every year.
Core disciples would receive ten spirit stones every year, and inner disciples would receive five. As for outer disciples, they would only get one hundred gold coins and one spirit stone every year.
If they wanted to earn more spirit stones, they should work hard and become inner disciples.
Aside from the distribution of spirit stones, any disciples who were on the verge of breaking through were eligible to get a bottle of qi-replenishing pill from the sect.
Lastly, Feng Shuran talked about the allocation of residences, as everyone can’t stay anywhere they liked.
Outer disciples were given two of the five mountain peaks; they could pick any of the houses on these two mountains and make it their home.
The inner and core disciples were given one mountain peak each. Outer disciples were not allowed to enter any of these peaks without permission, and inner disciples were not allowed to enter the mountain of core disciples without permission.
The last mountain peak belonged to the numbered elders, and only the other two elders were allowed to enter. However, they couldn’t live there. The outer elder was to live on either of the two mountains belonging to outer disciples, while the mission elder would stay on the mountain peak allocated to the core disciples.
Although the two elders felt this was unfair, it was the sect master’s decision; none of them dared to argue.
