Chapter 62: Celebrity’s vlog

Sean looked at Dion with obvious mockery on his face. "What do you think? Do you think I dare, Dion Sexa?"

"Sean... tell me, what exactly do you want?"

"You have to compensate me for the mental distress I suffered earlier."

"How much?"

Sean glanced at the table, then climbed down and picked up a small, beautifully decorated jar on top of it. He slowly opened the lid.

"That’s for your mother," Dion stopped him, holding Sean’s hand.

Sean frowned. "Are you going to fool Mom again with a jar of candy?"

Dion held on to the jar, with no intention of explaining himself.

SLAP! Sean smacked the back of Dion’s hand hard.

Dion looked at him. It didn’t hurt, but when he saw the look in his son’s black eyes, he eventually withdrew his hand anyway.

"Ha!" Dion waved his hand in resignation.

Sean took a packet of candy, opened it, and popped the contents into his mouth. The candy wasn’t rare or expensive. Hana often bought it for him, Kevin, and Zahn whenever she received her salary. Although he and Zahn were usually the only ones who finished it, Hana never left Kevin out of his share.

After tasting the candy, Sean carried the luxurious jar over to the sofa and put it in his own backpack.

"Sean! You!" Dion exclaimed. "Do you know I had that candy specially made for Hana? Give the rest back. It’s for your mother!"

Sean lay down on the sofa, paying him no attention. It does taste a little different. This... is slightly better quality.

"You’re not short of money. You can order more after this," he said casually.

Dion could only let out a harsh breath as he watched his only son behave so shamelessly. He slowly massaged his temples before reaching for the phone beside him.

"Order another jar. Decorate it the same way as the one just now."

Dion’s secretary, who was standing on the other side of the room, immediately nodded. "Yes, sir."

He promptly transferred the money to the candy factory owner’s account.

If Hana saw the number of zeros the secretary had just entered, she would be utterly shocked.

The candy was somewhat similar to the kind Hana used to buy for her children. The difference was that a single piece that once cost only ten dollars was now being sold for many times that amount.

One thousand dollars for a single piece of candy!

"Take me to find Mom this afternoon," Sean said. "That’s the price you have to pay for the mental distress you caused me."

Dion glanced at Sean, who was now lying exhausted on the sofa.

"Hmm. I’ll take you after you’ve rested."

"Don’t deceive me. Don’t ever think I don’t know about your dirty plans." He pointed at the stack of documents he had given Dion earlier. "I’ve already sent all that information to Kevin. Besides, I’ve also told my secretary to spread it all as soon as I carry out my move later."

A faint smile appeared on Sean’s face as he watched Dion’s expression grow darker with every word he said.

"My secretary is the most loyal person to me, and he’s smart enough to know what to do. If I don’t contact him within the time frame we agreed on, he’ll automatically publish all those problems. Every single one of them," he stressed.

After saying that, Sean turned over and promptly closed his eyes.

He had been extremely busy over the past few days. He had even slept for only two hours at the hotel earlier. His rest was already far below what a child his age needed.

Dion stared sharply at his son.

Is this really my son? He even dares to threaten me using my own past.

"People were right," he muttered. "Sons are their fathers’ sworn enemies. The moment they learn to walk, they start competing for their wives’ affection."

After calming his anger, Dion stepped outside for a moment before returning with a thick blanket. He covered Sean, who had already fallen asleep, then moved to his desk chair.

His fingers began moving swiftly across the keyboard again until a video without sound appeared on the computer screen.

Dion continued watching the footage sent live by one of his trusted subordinates, a skilled infiltrator capable of sneaking into even the most inaccessible places.

The video showed the luxurious residence. Guards stood at every corner, making the security around the house appear extremely tight.

Brandon’s private residence.

The place Brandon was most likely using to hold Hana captive.

After half an hour had passed, Dion finally gave up. He slammed the laptop shut because the footage had revealed absolutely nothing about Hana’s whereabouts. It was more like a celebrity’s vlog showing off the condition of his house.

Dion massaged his temples while glancing at Sean, who was still asleep.

For the first time in his life, he was beginning to believe his son’s words while also doubting his own abilities.

Am I really as stupid as Sean says I am?

Dion stood up, took a bottle of high-quality whiskey from the cabinet behind him, and drank straight from the bottle.

On the other side of the Melvin Continent, Brandon’s expression darkened as he listened to Shad’s explanation.

Although Shad was still lying in a hospital bed, his fingers moved quickly across his laptop. After finishing his investigation, he turned the screen toward Brandon, who was standing beside the bed.

"Here are the results," Shad said.

"You’ve been fooled. Someone from Karua City infiltrated your company’s security system. The way they infiltrated and attacked it was exactly the same as the method used when someone hacked into Miss Laila’s system to steal her information," he explained.

"How many shares did he end up taking?" Brandon asked.

Shad took a deep breath before pulling the laptop back toward himself. His fingers moved extremely fast, even faster than Kevin’s.

Not long afterward, he turned the screen toward Brandon again.

"Twenty percent. He took all the shares you released to the public today."

Brandon stared at the laptop screen in disbelief. He snatched the device from Shad’s hands and checked the data himself.

Are the people I’ve hired all this time really nothing but the worst of the worst?

"Who did it? Track him down for me!" Brandon ordered, his face darkening.

Shad shook his head. "I can’t detect him. I already tried a while ago, when he infiltrated Miss Laila’s database. I could only determine his whereabouts, and even then, only his general location. The program he used was his own creation. Its security system is many times more advanced than mine at the moment."

Brandon furrowed his brows. "Do you have any guesses about who it is?"

Shad nodded. "It should be him. Someone who has a close relationship with the person who left me injured like this."
