My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered

Chapter 248: The fall of the Twin cores

  • Next Chapter

The air atop the central plaza of the Chthonic Citadel was thick with the scent of ozone, burnt solar ash, and the metallic tang of unravelling space.

Where the towering, tens-of-thousands-of-miles-wide Primordial Twin Dominion had once stood, now hung only drifting embers of black star-fire and translucent shards of shattered soul-traps. The complete destruction of their supreme defense in a single fluid exchange had left the two remaining Void-Gods utterly reelings.

Moros the Soul-Feaster slumped against an overturned obsidian pillar, his tattered shadow robes torn and smoking. The writhing mass of screaming spirit-souls that formed his face had quieted into whimpering, terrified whispers. Beside him, Ignis the World-Burner knelt on one massive knee, his five-hundred-foot solar vessel shrinking rapidly down to a twelve-foot titan form as black plasma leaked continuously from a massive fissure across his chest.

"Impossible..." Ignis growled, his golden plasma eyes flickering weakly as he stared at Vince, who was casually stepping off the floating terrace onto the cracked marble plaza. "Our domain integration was flawless... Extreme heat and spectral death bound in perfect equilibrium... How did you force the loop to devour itself?!"

"Equilibrium requires absolute trust and shared intent," Vince said calmly, his dark coat rustling in the dying cosmic wind as he approached. "You two didn’t fuse out of unity. You fused out of terror. Moros feared my lotus absorbing his spirit, and you feared losing your territory. All it took was a single frequency shift from Barnaby’s lotus to expose the fault line between your divine authorities."

Barnaby walked close behind him, her eyes shining with a warm golden light. Her bloomed lotus core pulsed with an eager, melodic resonance that hummed through the bedrock of the asteroid city. Vetra rolled her heavy broadsword onto her shoulder with a sharp, satisfied smirk, while Lyrielle kept her bow half-drawn, her glowing arrow aimed squarely at Ignis’s head. High above, Elena’s spatial runes maintained an absolute lockdown on the surrounding void, preventing any spatial escape.

"You arrogant, mortal leech!" Moros shrieked suddenly, his skeletal hands clawing at the stone floor. "You think you can just come into our expanse, butcher our pantheon, and harvest our divine origins?! I will drag your spirit into the deepest abyss of the Styx!"

Driven by sheer, frantic desperation, Moros unleashed his final gamble. His entire gaunt form exploded into a dense, howling wave of ten million spectral ghosts—a tide of pure necromantic death meant to bypass physical defenses and rot the soul directly.

Vince didn’t even raise a hand.

"Vetra," Vince murmured softly.

"On it, Boss!"

Vetra leaped over Vince’s shoulder, her dark dragon-wings flaring wide as she swung her broadsword down in a wide, sweeping arc.

"Dragon-Domain: Soul-Cleaving Inferno!"

A wall of roaring, dense crimson dragon-fire erupted from her blade, sweeping across the plaza. The high-heat dragon flames didn’t just burn; infused with the sovereign domain aura from Vince, they thoroughly cleansed the spectral wave. Moros’s ten million screaming ghosts were instantly vaporized into harmless white smoke.

The crimson blade cleaved straight through Moros’s shadowy form, pinning the screaming Void-God to the obsidian floor.

"AAAGGGHHH—!" Moros howled as Vetra planted her foot firmly on his chest, pressing the edge of her sword deeper.

"Stay down, ghoul," Vetra sneered, her eyes gleaming with cold amusement.

Ignis gritted his teeth, his solar aura flaring one last time as he gathered every remaining drop of his compressed star-fire into his right fist. "If I am to fall... I will take this entire sector with me!"

Ignis lunged forward, intending to detonate his core in a suicidal explosion.

Before he could take two steps, Lyrielle released her bowstring.

THWIP—!

A streak of condensed silver-and-gold light pierced straight through Ignis’s right shoulder, pinning his arm to the stone wall behind him and completely severing the neural line channeling his core energy.

Vince walked smoothly up to the pinned titan. He raised his right hand, his fingers curling into a claw as his dark amethyst eyes flared with cold, absolute authority.

"Domain Extraction: Sovereign Reclaim."

A dark golden vortex manifested directly over Vince’s palm.

Inside Moros’s chest, the black, soul-dripping Soul-Styx Core was forcibly pulled free, tearing away from his fading form with a sickening crunch. Simultaneously, from deep within Ignis’s fractured chest, the blazing, golden-black Void-Solar Core was dragged out into the open air.

"NO! MY DIVINITY—!" Ignis screamed as his solar body began rapidly breaking down into inert ash.

"CURSE YOU... CURSE YOU, SOVEREIGN—!" Moros choked out before his shadow robes collapsed into empty dust under Vetra’s blade.

The two high-tier domain cores floated above Vince’s palm, swirling around each other in a frantic struggle for stability. Vince turned his gaze toward Barnaby.

"Barnaby."

"My Lord," Barnaby replied, stepping forward with a radiant smile. Her lotus flower expanded, its pristine gold petals opening completely to welcome the two wild energies.

Vince pushed both cores directly into the heart of the lotus.

BOOOOOOOOOOM—!

A blinding wave of harmonious golden light erupted across the entirety of the outer Null Expanse. The dark, jagged dark-matter storms that had plagued the western sectors for ten thousand years suddenly ceased. The violent ambient energy smoothed out into a pristine, dense ocean of pure, high-grade mana.

As the fifth and sixth cores integrated into the lotus, the white-marble citadel above began to undergo a miraculous transformation. The marble turned into shimmering celestial jade, and the outer boundary of Vince’s domain expanded exponentially—reaching past the outer sectors and locking down the entirety of the unmapped Null Expanse under his supreme rule.

Elena looked down at her floating monitors, her eyes wide with quiet awe.

"Vince... all six outer sectors are fully integrated," Elena reported softly. "The Null Expanse is officially unified under your absolute domain. There are no remaining Void-Gods."

Vince drew Barnaby close, admiring the absolute purity of the fully bloomed lotus hovering beside them. He looked out across his newly conquered, tranquil domain.

"The outer boundary is secure," Vince said softly, his voice cold and resolute. "Now... we prepare for Phase Four."
