The butler said, "I guess he’s gotten used to having you around all the time, and now that you’ve suddenly ignored him, he’s feeling a bit jealous."

"Ha," Melody Thorne couldn’t hold back a laugh.

She called Leon Rivers directly, "Is Jared Quinn with you?"

Leon Rivers glanced at the man sitting furthest inside, "Sister-in-law, have you been too strict with Jared recently, causing him to lose all personal freedom? Look at him, he’s getting unhappier by the day. Sometimes men need a bit of freedom too; you’ve got to let go, otherwise, he’ll feel overwhelmed and suffocated!"

Melody Thorne was silent for a second, "Are you saying I’ve been too strict with him, and that’s why he’s unhappy?"

"Ah," Leon Rivers glanced again at the man across from him, and a long leg kicked over at him.

Leon Rivers quickly dodged, and the call was already hung up, "Jared, are you trying to murder me for my money?"

That almost hit him where it hurts!

Harold Chapman chuckled indifferently, "Leon Rivers, you’re really capable of messing things up. Didn’t you notice that Jared’s in a bad mood because his sister-in-law has been too busy lately to spend time with him?"

Leon Rivers "..."

He squatted down and silently called Melody back.

When Melody Thorne arrived, the three men were drinking, and no one seemed to notice her.

Melody quietly sat down next to Jared Quinn, just watching the three men drink, and made herself a glass of juice.

Two hours passed, and the three men were still drinking, drinking while playing cards.

"I want to play too," Melody Thorne grabbed the cards from Jared Quinn’s hand.

She lost two or three times but won several.

"Are you guys incapable of getting drunk?" Melody Thorne curiously eyed their glasses, taking a sip from Jared Quinn’s. It tasted like ordinary wine, nothing too strong.

"Sister-in-law, don’t you get it? This isn’t called drinking, it’s called savoring life," Leon Rivers winked at her.

"Then you guys take your time; I’ll just wait here for you," Melody Thorne pulled Jared’s arm over and leaned on him to sleep.

"You have that much time?" Jared Quinn finally reacted, turning his head to look at her.

"When don’t I have time?" Melody Thorne laughed, resting her chin on her hand, "If it weren’t for the Hawthorne Family’s matters, I’d have time every day. Our wedding is soon, so I want to get the Hawthorne Family’s issues resolved during this time, then we can go abroad for our honeymoon, right?"

"Is that what you’re thinking?" Jared’s expression softened slightly.

"I’ve always thought that. If we can’t resolve things during this time, we won’t be able to go abroad then, right?" Melody Thorne’s tone was like coaxing a three-year-old child.

"And I also plan not to bring Timmy and little Chia, just leave them at home, okay?" Melody Thorne continued to coax.

Leon Rivers silently turned his head.

Since when did the man who held Ardenia’s economic lifeline need a woman’s coaxing?

"Mhm."

Yet Jared Quinn just fell for it easily, coaxed just fine.

Leon Rivers "..."

"So you’re not angry anymore?" Melody Thorne continued.

"Mhm."

Leon Rivers "..."

This is probably the most easily coaxed man in the world; Jared, where’s your dignity?

"Then shall we go home?" Melody Thorne smiled.

"Let’s go," Jared Quinn got up and took her hand, leading her outside.
