My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 639 347: Trial Celestial Star Potion
Su Chen completely stepped out of the tower and glanced in the direction of the Prison King. As for that guy... he would deal with him later.
As for the palaces outside the tower, there were plenty of them. Now that he had an identity, Su Chen wasn't in a hurry. He tried to find the differences between these palaces to see if there were any other clues or markings.
After strolling around and doing a rough count, he found that there were over a hundred palaces scattered about that could be opened.
Each had slight differences in appearance and size, but Su Chen didn't find any distinct markings that could truly classify them.
To be safe, he specifically chose the largest and most magnificent palace among them.
At a rough glance, the palace before him covered hundreds of square meters. Four giant metal pillars supported the towering structure, and its doors stood three meters tall.
Su Chen placed both palms flat against the doors. As expected, he faced no resistance this time. The doors pushed open with extreme smoothness, swinging inward accompanied by a faint, rumbling RUMBLE.
However, what appeared before Su Chen was a pale purple Energy membrane. Rippling like water, it completely engulfed the doorway.
After a brief moment of thought, Su Chen stepped forward. He could clearly feel the Energy layer brushing over the surface of his body.
A faint wave of dizziness washed over him. The moment his feet touched the ground, a fierce gale carrying a sky full of yellow sand blew right into his face.
Su Chen narrowed his eyes and noticed that the Residual Fire on his body's surface had faded. He thought, "It automatically fades upon entering the trial. This fire from that Residual Spirit definitely has something to do with this place."
He let the storm hurl the sand and gravel against his body. Before him was a seemingly endless desert, and the wind speeds were incredibly staggering.
The gravel caught in the gale had transformed into powerful weapons capable of severing limbs.
"Just looking at the intensity of this sandstorm, let alone a Tier Five, even a weaker Tier Six Professional wouldn't be able to withstand it," he muttered to himself.
Su Chen reached out his hand. The gravel battered against his palm with a crackling CRACKLE, bursting into mists of dust.
At that exact moment, his gaze suddenly froze. The sea of sand beneath his feet surged like a crashing wave, and the billowing dust rushed toward his face.
An arc of Red Gold lightning erupted from the ground, propelling Su Chen high into the sky in an instant.
The wind howled in his ears. Below, the sea of sand had been torn open, revealing a giant scorpion entirely covered in thick, golden Scale Armor.
Its stinger, shaped like a crescent moon, was slowly retracting. A wisp of dark purple poisonous mist condensed at the tip, slowly dripping down. When it struck the desert below, it emitted a bone-corroding SIZZLE.
The scorpion's armor flowed with the color of molten gold, and thread-like streams of light wound between its scales. The tail alone was a hundred meters long.
The moment Su Chen caught sight of this giant scorpion, he understood. So, it was this kind of trial.
He was very familiar with this. It boiled down to one single word: fight!
But immediately after, the giant golden scorpion on the ground blurred and shrank into a three-meter-tall, burly humanoid figure. His muscles were knotted like iron, and his gaze was dark and freezing.
"Is this a Professional?" Su Chen's eyes flashed slightly. "A beast-transformation Professional, and the transformation is extremely complete at that."
More importantly, this didn't seem to be a projection or anything similar; the killing intent in his eyes was far too real.
"Wait..." Su Chen attempted to communicate, but the other party gave him no chance.
Although he had taken human form, the stinger on his back slashed out like a poisoned scimitar. A blinding point of white light condensed at the tip as it whipped forward, seemingly tearing through space. The airflow whipped up by the tail joints let out an ear-piercing SHRIEK.
Su Chen furrowed his brows slightly. His body flipped like a kite in the wind, effortlessly dodging the stinger's strike. He still intended to communicate, hoping to glean more information. However, the man had absolutely no intention of talking. Moving with extreme speed, he stomped the ground and launched himself into the air, kicking up a storm of dust. His hands transformed into giant scorpion pincers as they tore toward Su Chen.
"Tsk..." Su Chen frowned. His right fist smashed down like a cannonball. Without even using any abilities, his knuckles collided with the giant scorpion's pincer. An explosive BOOM like muffled thunder erupted high in the sky, carrying the faint, subtle sound of shattering bone.
Spiderweb-like cracks spread across the pincer's carapace. The man's body was viciously swatted downward by the blow, kicking up a chaotic gale. The moment he landed, he reverted back into the giant golden scorpion and swiftly burrowed into the sea of sand, disappearing from sight.
Su Chen had wanted to talk, and he also wanted to test the exact difficulty of this trial, so he hadn't gone all out from the start. After that brief exchange, he now had a rough idea.
"The intensity isn't low. This guy's strength is probably even greater than a Tier Six Star Amber Professional. I reckon only a Divine Dawn could go toe-to-toe with him, and winning would still take some effort.
"I don't know if all the palaces have this level of intensity, or if this large palace I chose just has a slightly higher difficulty."
He looked down, his brows slightly furrowed. "However, this guy has no desire to communicate. Or perhaps, while he looks like a living person, he is essentially just a projection or a puppet?"
BOOM!
The ground ruptured. A rising pillar of sand churned like a raging tide as the giant golden scorpion exploded from the dust. Wrapping itself in a sky full of sand, its body flickered in and out of the storm, radiating chilling killing intent.
"Sigh..." Su Chen breathed out. It seemed there was no point in trying to talk to this guy—or rather, this guy wasn't a living person at all.
Instead of retreating, he advanced. Sinking his stance, he cast the shadow of the Reflected Great Venerable upon himself.
His Secret Artifact elevated his power. Crimson flames abruptly ignited around his right fist, and pale golden lightning crackled down his arm. His muscles pulled taut like steel cables.
Without any flashy wind-ups, he simply took one step forward. The wind from his punch whipped up a searing gale, howling as it tore through the air. Crimson fire and golden lightning condensed around his fist, transforming into a pillar of light that threatened to rip heaven and earth apart before crashing heavily into the giant scorpion's chest.
CRACK!
An ear-piercing sound of shattering bone exploded outward, like a heavy hammer smashing through colored glass.
The golden carapace fractured like a spiderweb under the Energy impact, sending fragments flying. The giant scorpion's six legs spasmed in midair, its joints twisting into unnatural angles. Its chest cavity was completely blown through, and dark red blood sprayed out, dyeing half the sky crimson.
Su Chen's fist force pierced straight through. Carrying a berserk residual momentum, it viciously slammed the massive beast back into the ground, cratering a scorched, bottomless pit as the surrounding gravel shot dozens of meters into the air.
Before the giant scorpion even landed, Su Chen had already retracted his fist. Seeing the fresh blood spilling from the shattered Scale Armor, he raised an eyebrow. "Is it actually alive?"
This place had likely existed for quite a long time. How could a lifeform of this caliber possibly survive for so long?
"Or was it sealed away using special methods, meaning these lifeforms weren't activated until I entered?"
Su Chen's eyes flickered as he descended. Just as he was about to get closer for a careful study, he watched the giant golden scorpion's body disintegrate, turning into fine sand and vanishing without a trace.
"This..." Su Chen paused in his tracks.
At the same time, a virtual screen appeared before his eyes—
"Congratulations on passing the trial. Rating: S. Reward obtained: Celestial Star Potion."
Ripples formed in the empty space before him, and a silver, tube-like metal object only as thick as an index finger emerged. It had transparent glass windows on both sides, allowing him to clearly see the indigo liquid surging within.
"This trial has ratings? And the rating affects the reward?"
From the text on the virtual screen, Su Chen had already deduced quite a bit of information.
"As for this reward..." Su Chen couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Potions only had so many uses. He wasn't lacking in anything that boosted development efficiency. As for healing injuries or restoring Physical Strength, he needed those even less.
Better than nothing. He reached out and grabbed the Potion in front of him. Just then, text surfaced on his interface—
[Celestial Star Potion: Produced by the Abyss Holy United Organization. Concocted using fallen celestial stars as the core material. Effective on Tier Six Professionals. Randomly elevates the Main Profession development progress by a minimum of 5% and a maximum of 15%. Can only be used once per person.]
Huh?
A brilliant light exploded in Su Chen's eyes. He almost thought he had read it wrong.
Directly elevating Profession progress—not just boosting development efficiency!
He swallowed hard. Main Profession progress was arguably the hardest thing to raise; Talents and Potions could typically only boost the efficiency of its development.
He had almost never seen anything that could directly elevate development progress. It was only during a Holy Profession metamorphosis that it would be slightly stimulated as a byproduct.
But that was a Holy Profession. Even for him, it required a long period of preparation, let alone for anyone else. It simply couldn't be treated as the norm.
Did this Sun Tier really come from the Abyss Realm?
If that place even had Potions that directly promoted Profession development, just what level had their civilization reached?
