My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 730 488: How About I Call You Hubby? (Part 2)
Jiangg Yao pouted, clearly not agreeing with him.
After all, this was home. Even though Chen Yuan wasn't very familiar with it himself, Liu He wanted him to treat it as a real home and not feel like a stranger. Thus, Chen Yuan took it upon himself to give the two sisters the grand tour.
He pushed the wheelchair while holding Ningning's little hand.
"The first floor is for dining and receiving guests. I used to live on the second floor, all by myself. There are a ton of rooms, and every night I'd feel this crushing loneliness, like I'd been abandoned by the entire world. My dad often didn't come home at night... Plus, after I transferred schools here, I didn't have a single friend. Pretty terrifying, right?"
"So what did you do at night?" Jiangg Yao asked curiously.
"Read novels."
"Wow, that really is lonely."
"Right, this was my room." Reaching the middle of the second floor, he opened the door.
A medium-sized bedroom came into view.
There was a desk, a bookshelf, and a balcony with its curtains only half-drawn. The sky-blue bedsheets gave it a cozy feel, and a soft carpet covered the floor.
The two sisters walked inside. Sure enough, they saw countless manga and novels on the bookshelf, while sports rackets and the like were placed on the other side of the desk.
With a SWISH, Chen Yuan pulled the curtains fully open.
Golden sunlight instantly flooded the room, revealing a picturesque green lawn and a sports court in the backyard.
Jiangg Yao's gaze was drawn to a diary on the desk. She picked it up for a look.
Line after line was written in a messy script. The ink had faded with age, but the words were still legible.
She couldn't help but read aloud, "In the end, the things that remain in the depths of memory are always the most ethereal. It's like how you remember a person, often not for their beauty. Many years later, you might even forget her face, but then by chance, on a bustling street, you catch a whiff of the perfume she used to wear... Even if you came face to face, you might not recognize her as she is today—"
On another page.
"A rainy night... an overpass... a Maybach? What is all this stuff?"
Chen Yuan listened for a moment before it dawned on him what she was reading.
"Whoa, what the—!?" He rushed over, snatched the notebook, and clutched it to his chest before shoving Jiangg Yao aside.
He hastily reached up and stuffed the diary onto a high shelf.
"Who is 'she'? What's this about perfume? Don't tell me it was some girl you had a crush on in Kyoto. Aha! And here you said you've never had feelings for any other girl your entire life," Jiangg Yao said, scrutinizing him.
"What crush? It's an excerpt I copied from some obscure author's book."
"An excerpt, huh..." Jiangg Yao said, as if seeing the light. "No wonder it sounded so artsy and pretentious. It's no surprise the author is obscure."
"Exactly," Chen Yuan quickly agreed.
'I'd completely forgotten about my cringey past of copying those quotes, and now Yaoyao had to go and dig it up.' He was utterly mortified and decided to usher the sisters out immediately. Besides, a guy's room wasn't that interesting to tour anyway.
This was also indirect proof that ever since he had moved out, nothing in the room had been touched.
The third floor, the fourth floor, and the storage room for collectibles.
They toured them all.
"That's about it, right? I'm getting tired just from looking. This house is way too big; it's no good. I'd get lonely here too. Young Master, we'll have to get a smaller place in the future... Otherwise, if we get into a fight and someone hides, they won't find the body until it starts to stink."
Chen Yuan didn't quite understand how Jiangg Yao, who was sitting in a wheelchair and being pushed the entire time, could be tired.
But he chose to respect her feelings.
"The tour is almost over. There's just one last place to see. After that, it'll be about time for us to head out for our engagement photoshoot."
"We're going to the shoot now? I thought it was tomorrow."
"Today," Chen Yuan said, leading the two sisters into the elevator. He pressed the symbol button at the very top of the panel.
「A few seconds later.」
The three of them arrived on the top floor.
"This was my favorite place when I was a kid." A gentle breeze drifted by, and Chen Yuan squinted slightly. "It's a great spot to soak up some sun and enjoy the breeze."
On the rooftop, four Baroque-style domes surrounded a sprawling platform. In the center lay a massive swimming pool, its turquoise water shimmering as it reflected the golden sunlight. Sun umbrellas and lounge chairs were arranged around it.
"Wow..." the two sisters gasped in unison, their eyes slowly widening.
The domes also provided cover, making the pool invisible from the outside and ensuring excellent privacy.
'What a design, just reeking of money... Only someone who didn't care about the cost could build a rooftop pool like this.'
"The photos you could take here would be incredible!" Yaoyao exclaimed.
In the distance was a dense skyline of skyscrapers, set against a clear, azure sky.
If this were a dating sim and not real life, then Chen Yuan's relationship with Ningning and Yaoyao would have just hit a major milestone: visiting each other's homes.
A rare achievement badge, successfully unlocked.
The next and most crucial step would naturally follow: the 100% completion route.
...
"We're getting engaged..."
"I hope we'll be together forever, grow old together, and never be apart..."
"This is the happiest day of my life."
Jiangg Yao and Jiangg Ning quietly read the notes tucked into the frames on the wall.
An entire wall was covered in them, plastered with the hopes and dreams for the future left behind by newly engaged and married couples.
The family banquet was scheduled for the evening, and since the engagement photoshoot was a major undertaking, the trio had arrived in the morning. They planned to have lunch at the studio and follow the scheduled workflow, which should have them finished by evening. That way, everyone's time would be managed efficiently.
The studio was also very busy, and it had taken a great deal of effort to secure this VIP appointment.
The three of them had set out half an hour ago and had been at the studio for less than five minutes. Their personal coordinator and photographer hadn't arrived yet, so the front desk staff brought them desserts and coffee, inviting them to wait and look around.
And that was how they ended up in front of this wall.
"Just from looking at this wall, getting married seems like such a happy affair. Everyone is smiling in their photos. It's really beautiful..."
"What are they supposed to do, cry?"
"You'd be surprised, but plenty of people do cry at their weddings. That's just how girls are. We cry when we're proposed to, we cry when the ring is put on, and we'll definitely cry when we marry the person we love."
To Chen Yuan's surprise, Jiangg Yao gave him a completely serious answer.
Jiangg Ning's red lips parted slightly as she took a sip of her latte, then she pointed to the photos.
"The makeup and styling are pretty good."
"Let me see... Sis, you're right. Each makeup style gives a completely different vibe."
"What kind of look are you thinking of choosing later?"
"I want to try a dark, gothic style. You know, like a Black Swan queen. Then we'll have Young Master kneel beside me to offer me my crown... Whew, just thinking about it is thrilling."
"That's a good idea," Ningning said, much to Chen Yuan's surprise. "As for me, I want to try a more aesthetic style. Or maybe a British-inspired look?"
"Hey, doesn't my opinion count?" he protested.
"Chen, has no one told you? During a wedding photoshoot, the husband is just a prop," Jiangg Ning said with a blink.
The day-long, exhausting shoot hadn't even begun, but Chen Yuan was already feeling the pressure.
'A single session takes more than four hours, with constant changes of clothes, makeup, and scenery. It's even more exhausting than going shopping.'
'The poor guys in those photos had undoubtedly all been through this same ordeal.'
But Chen Yuan's fate was even worse. He wasn't just posing with one person; with both Ningning and Yaoyao, his shooting schedule was doubled.
Given the unique situation.
The staff at the Italian bridal studio had already explained that because of the special circumstances, both fiancées would have their shoots done simultaneously. He would have to finish with one and immediately rush over to the other. It was the only way they could possibly finish within a single day.
As he was mulling this over,
Jiangg Yao, who was beside him, suddenly tugged on his sleeve, motioning for him to lean down.
"What is it, Yaoyao?" he asked.
"Starting today, I'm not going to call you 'Young Master' anymore. How about I call you 'hubby' instead...? See, that's what all the little notes say..."
"Okay... my dear wifey," he whispered back.
"Hubby~"
"I'm here..."
"What are you two whispering about?" Jiangg Ning turned to them, her expression puzzled.
